In the process of selecting manufacturing suppliers, most research works focus on the final decision making problem. However, the process is a dynamic and rapidly changing evolving one and it is necessary to gradually adjust and optimize multi-criteria parameters such as price, time and quality and so on. The objective of this paper is to propose an interval optimization model of multi-criteria parameters and introduce the distance metric of Euclidean distance and vector theories to construct the model. An adaptive genetic algorithm based on real encoding is applied to obtain the optimal solution. Finally, a practical example is implemented to verify the validity of the proposed model and approach.

Horizontal manufacturing collaborative alliance is a dispersed enterprise community consisting of several enterprises which produce the same kind of products. To correctly assign order among member companies of horizontal manufacturing collaborative alliance is one of the most important ways to improve the agility and competitiveness of manufacturing enterprises. For the order allocation problem, a bi-objective optimization model is developed to minimize the comprehensive cost and balance the production loads among the selected manufacturing enterprises. Non-dominated sorting genetic algorithm (NSGA-II) is applied to solve the optimization functions. The optimal solution set of Pareto is obtained. The simulation results indicate that the proposed model and algorithm is able to obtain satisfactory solutions.

Abstract In the article a combinatorial optimization model for group decision-making problem is proposed. The described model relies on extended simple additive weighting model. A distinctive feature of the proposed model is consideration of the importance of experts’ opinions by introducing weighted coefficient for each of experts. This allows flexible adjustment of differences in knowledge and experience of the group members responsible to determine most preferable alternative to be achieved. The numerical application is illustrated by an example for software engineering adopted from D. Krapohl. The obtained results show the practical applicability of the proposed combinatorial optimization model for group decision-making.

The aim of this paper is to use a bi-level linear programming technique with rough parameters in the constraints, for measuring the technical efficiency of local banks in UAE and Egypt, while the proposed linear objective functions will be maximized for different goals. Based on Dauer's and Krueger's goal programmingmethod, the described approach was developed to deal with the bi-level decision-making problem. The concept of tolerance membership function together was used to generate the optimal solution for the problem under investigation. Also an auxiliary problem is discussed to illustrate the functionality of the proposed approach.

Knowledge employee’s turnover forecast is a multi-criteria decision-making problem involving various factors. In order to forecast accurately turnover of knowledge employees, the potential support vector machines(P-SVM) is introduced to develop a turnover forecast model. In the model development, a chaos algorithm and a genetic algorithm (GA) are employed to optimize P-SVM parameters selection. The simulation results show that the model based on potential support vector machine with chaos not only has much stronger generalization ability but also has the ability of feature selection.

The use of driver behavior has been considered a complex way to solve road safety complications. Car drivers are usually involved in various risky driving factors which lead to accidents where people are fatally or seriously injured. The present study aims to dissect and rank the significant driver behavior factors related to road safety by applying an integrated multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM) model, which is structured as a hierarchy with at least one 5 × 5 (or bigger) pairwise comparison matrix (PCM). A real-world, complex decision-making problem was selected to evaluate the possible application of the proposed model (driver behavior preferences related to road safety problems). The application of the analytic hierarchy process (AHP) alone, by precluding layman participants, might cause a loss of reliable information in the case of the decision-making systems with big PCMs. Evading this tricky issue, we used the Best Worst Method (BWM) to make the layman’s evaluator task easier and timesaving. Therefore, the AHP-BWM model was found to be a suitable integration to evaluate risky driver behavior factors within a designed three-level hierarchical structure. The model results found the most significant driver behavior factors that influence road safety for each level, based on evaluator responses on the driver behavior questionnaire (DBQ). Moreover, the output vector of weights in the integrated model is more consistent, with results for 5 × 5 PCMs or bigger. The proposed AHP-BWM model can be used for PCMs with scientific data organized by traditional means.

Under the background of huge amounts of data in large-scale power grid, the active power optimization calculation is easy to fall into local optimal solution, and meanwhile the calculation demands a higher processing speed. Aiming at these questions, the farmer fishing algorithm which is applied to solve the problem of optimal distribution of active load for coal-fired power units is used to improve the cloud adaptive genetic algorithm (CAGA) for speeding up the convergence phase of CAGA. The concept of cloud computing algorithm is introduced, and parallel design has been done through MapReduce graphs. This method speeds up the calculation and improves the effectiveness of the active load optimization allocation calculation.

System resources allocation optimization through dynamic scheduling is key to improving the service level of bike-sharing. This study innovatively introduces three types of invalid demand with negative effect including waiting, transfer, and abandoning, which consists of the total demand of bike-sharing system. Through exploring the dynamic relationship among users’ travel demands, the quantity and capacity of bikes at the rental points, the records of bicycles borrowed and returned, and the vehicle scheduling schemes, a demand forecasting model for bike-sharing is established. According to the predicted bikes and the maximum capacity limit at each rental point, an optimization model of scheduling scheme is proposed to reduce the invalid demand and the total scheduling time. A two-layer dynamic coupling model with iterative feedback is obtained by combining the demand prediction model and scheduling optimization model and is then solved by Nicked Pareto Genetic Algorithm (NPGA). The proposed model is applied to a case study and the optimal solution set and corresponding Pareto front are obtained. The invalid demand is greatly reduced from 1094 to 26 by an effective scheduling of 3 rounds and 96 minutes. Empirical results show that the proposed model is able to optimize the resource allocation of bike-sharing, significantly reduce the invalid demand caused by the absence of bikes at the rental point such as waiting in a place, walking to other rental points, and giving up for other travel modes, and effectively improve the system service level.

A model is developed for the optimal design of storm water networks. The model uses a genetic algorithm (GA) as the search engine and the TRANSPORT module of the US Environmental Protection Agency storm water management model version 4.4H (SWMM4.4H) as the hydraulic simulator. Two different schemes are used to formulate the problem with varying degrees of success in reaching a near-optimal solution. In the first scheme, the nodal elevations and pipe diameters are selected as the decision variables of the problem which were determined by the GA to produce the trial solutions. In the second scheme, only nodal elevations are optimized by the GA, and determination of pipe diameters is left to the TRANSPORT SWMM module. Simulation of the trial solutions in both methods is carried out by the TRANSPORT module of SWMM4.4H. The proposed model is applied to some benchmark examples, and the results are presented and compared with the existing results in the literature.Key words: genetic algorithm, optimal design, sewer network, SWMM.

The main problems for Genetic Algorithm (GA) to deal with the complex layout design of satellite module lie in easily trapping into local optimality and large amount of consuming time. To solve these problems, the Bee Evolutionary Genetic Algorithm (BEGA) and the adaptive genetic algorithm (AGA) are introduced. The crossover operation of BEGA algorithm effectively reinforces the information exploitation of the genetic algorithm, and introducing random individuals in BEGA enhance the exploration capability and avoid the premature convergence of BEGA. These two features enable to accelerate the evolution of the algorithm and maintain excellent solutions. At the same time, AGA is adopted to improve the crossover and mutation probability, which enhances the escaping capability from local optimal solution. Finally, satellite module layout design based on Adaptive Bee Evolutionary Genetic Algorithm (ABEGA) is proposed. Numerical experiments of the satellite module layout optimization show that: ABEGA outperforms SGA and AGA in terms of the overall layout scheme, enveloping circle radius, the moment of inertia and success rate.
