Abstract. Green light emitting Mn2+-doped Zn2SiO4 (Zn2SiO4:Mn2+) phosphor nano-particles were synthesized by sol-gel method combined with a furnace firing from the sol-gel solution made with ZnO, MnCO3 and tetraethoxysilan. The influences of annealing temperatures on the microstructures and photoluminescent properties of the Zn2SiO4:Mn2+ phosphors were investigated. The structural details of the phosphors were examined through XRD and SEM. The photoluminescent properties of the Zn2SiO4:Mn2+ phosphors were characterized by excitation and emission spectra. The results indicate that the XRD patterns of the Zn2SiO4:Mn2+ phosphors exhibit a willemite structure (-Zn2SiO4). Green photoluminescence whose emission peak is located at 525 nm were observed from the synthesized phosphor particles under UV excitation. The photoluminescent mechanisms of the Zn2SiO4:Mn2+ phosphors were discussed.

Cd1-xZnxSiO3:0.01 Mn2+phosphor was synthesized by sol-gel method. It was characterized by excitation, emission spectra and XRD. The luminescent properties show the phenomenon of energy transfer from the tetrahedral coordinated Mn2+ion to the octahedral coordinated Mn2+ion after exciting by ultraviolet light, which boost the performance of the phosphor. With the increasing of Zn2+in Cd1-xZnxSiO3:0.01 Mn2+phosphor, it was observed the excitation spectra broadened and a red shift in the emission spectra, which emission peak moved from 580nm to 589nm.

The luminescent properties of Eu2+, Mn2+co-doped Ca2SiO3Cl2phosphors synthesized by the sol-gel method were investigated. The crystal structure, pattern and luminescence properties were characterized by the X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscope (SEM), and photoluminescence (PL) testing. The result showed that pure Ca2SiO3Cl2was prepared at 570°C for 8h in the active carbon weak reducing atmosphere. The phosphor particles showed Eu2+by the excitation spectrum located at 365nm found that spectra with an emission peak located at a 446nm and the other emission spectrum was dominated by the green peak located at 497nm. Due to the Eu2+center transfer energy to the Mn2+center that there be an emission spectrum peak located at 580nm. Three of emission spectrum peaks stacking to white light.

The paper discusses preparation and luminescent properties of Sr5SiO4Cl6:Eu2+ blue phosphor, which was synthesized by sol–gel method. The emission and excitation spectra, SEM, XRD and diffuse reflection of the fluorescent powder were measured. It was shown that the samples were single phase of Sr5SiO4Cl6 by the XRD patterns. The photoluminescence and excitation spectra of this phosphor were investigated. The phosphor excited by 278 nm light showed an asymmetric spectrum. The emission spectra can be separated into three distinct peaks located at 450, 480 and 540 nm, respectively. The influences of Eu2+ ions concentration on the emission intensity of Sr5SiO4Cl6:Eu2+ phosphors were studied in detail. The influences of different sintering temperature on the emission intensity were also investigated. The optimal sintering temperature was 750 °C. Effects of the amount of complexing agent were studied and a ratio of 1∼1.1 to that of the cation was the best. The particle diameter of the phosphor was studied by SEM. The potential applications were also discussed.

SiO2-Al2O3 xerogels with various Si : Al ratios were synthesized via sol-gel method (two kinds of synthetic procedures were used) and characterized by means of elemental analysis, XRD, thermogravimetry and IR spectroscopy. No losses of precursors were found during the synthesis and the introduced components are quantitatively transferred from the initial mixture to the composition of the formed samples. The position of the luminescence band in the 300–500 nm region depends on the wavelength of the exciting light, time of gel maturation and the drying temperature, which is the manifestation of the influence of the structure of units in xerogels on the luminescent properties.

<p>Pure phase Li2TiO3 nano-particles were synthesized by the sol-gel method and the structural properties were examined with X-ray diffraction (XRD) technique. The latter showed that these materials, heat treated at relatively low temperature 900°C during 4h compared to the conventional solid-state reaction which calcination temperature is about 900–1100°C for 10 h; crystallize in the monoclinic phase without the presence of secondary phases. The microstructure of the LT ceramic (sintered at 1100°C) were determined by SEM and a good crystalline nature was observed with an average of granular size 2 μm. Moreover, the impedance spectroscopy showed at a higher temperature of 500°C the low-frequency arc due either to the grain boundary or sample-electrode charge transport processes.</p>
