Abstract The propagation and resonance properties of longitudinal leaky surface acoustic waves (LLSAWs) on bonded structures consisting of a quartz (Qz) thin plate and a Qz support substrate with different Euler angles were investigated theoretically. By using both an X-cut Qz thin plate and a Qz support substrate with optimal Euler angles, we obtained LLSAWs with a larger coupling factor, a smaller attenuation, and a lower temperature coefficient of frequency than those on a single Qz substrate. Furthermore, from the resonance properties simulated by the finite element method, the bonded structures were found to exhibit a large admittance ratio and a high quality factor, which could not be obtained when using a single Qz substrate; the bandwidth however was as small as 0.016-0.086%.

Abstract An experimental method is proposed to determine the frequency-dependent complex shear viscosity of liquids based on the quartz crystal microbalance with dissipation method. An AT-cut quartz transducer without metal electrodes is immersed in a sample liquid and the transducer is electrically coupled to the circuit through the dielectric response of the sample itself. After correcting for the apparent change in the resonance properties due to the dielectric coupling of the sample, our method is able to determine the viscosity of liquids of high polarity and low viscosity at frequencies as high as 3 GHz. The method was then applied to ethylene glycol and the viscoelastic relaxation in the GHz regime was observed. Furthermore, it was also applied to room-temperature ionic liquids to show that the dielectric correction of the resonance properties is valid for conductive liquids.

Abstract In this paper investigate the dynamic instability of a system of two self-oscillators with a strong resonant coupling. The analysis of influence of resonance properties of coupling on stability of synchronous modes was carried out. In the course of the computational experiment, it was possible to observe the different behavior of the system depending on the given initial conditions. The boundaries of destruction of coherent modes are determined.

We present the results of the experimental and theoretical study of the resonant properties and noise of a single cell of a receiving system based on cold-electron bolometers (CEB) with a double-folded slot antenna and coplanar lines. The system was designed to receive signals at 220/240 GHz frequencies with a 5% bandwidth. In measurements, we used the samples of the double-folded slot antennas with slot lengths of 162 um and coplanar line lengths from 185 to 360 um. Measurements of the resonance properties of CEB located at 0.3 K cryostat plate were carried out using a generator based on a high-temperature YBCO Josephson junction located inside the same cryostat at 4 K plate. This arrangement made it possible to obtain smooth amplitude-frequency characteristics with a clearly defined peak of a 15–21 GHz bandwidth at different frequencies. Based on these results, 2-D array of double-folded slot antennas with CEBs as 220/240 GHz LSPE channel prototype was calculated. The absorption efficiency of the array has reached 81% and 77% for 220 and 240 GHz channels, respectively.

Abstract The magnetostatic and magnetic resonance properties of the Y0.5Sr0.5Cr0.5Mn0.5O3 polycrystalline system have been experimentally studied. The intracrystalline ferromagnetic interaction turned out to be prevalent while the intercrystalline interaction appears to have antiferromagnetic character. We found that two absorption lines are observed in the spectrum in the magnetic ordering region at T < 80 K. The high-field line corresponds to the interacting parts of polycrystal related to the disordered shells and the low-field peak is system of ferromagnetic particles.

Abstract A new point of view on the appearance of S-, P- and R-striations in a positive column of inert gases is proposed, based on a dynamic analysis of the resonance properties of electron phase trajectories in spatially periodic fields. The positive column may be considered as a resonator containing a set of resonant modes. Like a tuning fork, being disturbed, it responds with one of the modes, in particular with of S-, P-, or R-modes or striations, depending on the discharge conditions. The dynamic approach eliminates the difficulties of the kinetic theory associated with the long length of the solution of Boltzmann equation, which is much greater than the length of the positive column.
