Basic information and research results of the process combined rolling-extruding have been represented, which have been used to create new energy-saving technologies for obtaining of long deformed semi-finished products of small cross-section. It has been shown that such combined processing technologies may be applicable for the machining of low ductility and low-tech aluminium alloys with high metal yield and high productivity.

AbstractA new industrial revolution is on the verge in the energy domain considering the knowledge and skills acquired through the development of new energy technologies. Shale gas processing, unconventional oil exploitation, new exploring/drilling methods, mature renewable energy or in progress, all generated a wealth of knowledge in new technology. Therefore, this paper aims to analyse the positive and negative aspects of energy solutions, and to reveal the way to a world where a valid sustainable development, based on safe and rational premises, is actually considered. The paper also introduces suggestions for the energy system, which has a crucial importance in coping with the resource management of the future, where the economic, social, and environmental/climate needs of the post-crisis world should be suitably considered.

Innovations create both opportunities and dilemmas. Innovations provide new and purportedly better opportunities, but—because of their newness—they are often more uncertain and potentially worse than existing options. There are new drugs, new energy sources, new foods, new manufacturing technologies, new toys and new pedagogical methods, new weapon systems, new home appliances, and many other discoveries and inventions. To use or not to use a new and promising but unfamiliar and hence uncertain innovation? That dilemma faces just about everybody. Furthermore, the paradigm of the innovation dilemma characterizes many situations even when a new technology is not actually involved. The dilemma arises from new attitudes, like individual responsibility for the global environment, or new social conceptions, like global allegiance and self-identity transcending all nation-states. These dilemmas have far-reaching implications for individuals, organizations, and society at large as they make decisions in the age of innovation. The uncritical belief in outcome optimization—“more is better, so most is best”—pervades decision-making in all domains, but this is often irresponsible when facing the uncertainties of innovation. There is a great need for practical conceptual tools for understanding and managing the dilemmas of innovation. This book offers a new direction for a wide audience. It discusses examples from many fields, including e-reading, online learning, bipolar disorder and pregnancy, disruptive technology in industry, stock markets, agricultural productivity and world hunger, military hardware, military intelligence, biological conservation, and more.

The use of a double sided friction stir welding tool (known as a bobbin tool) has the advantage of giving a processed zone in the workpiece which is more or less rectangular in cross section, as opposed the triangular zone which is more typically found when conventional friction stir welding tool designs are used. In addition, the net axial force on the workpiece is almost zero, which has significant beneficial implications in machine design and cost. However, the response of these tools in generating fine microstructures in the nugget area has not been established. The paper presents detailed metallographic analyses of microstructures produced in 25mm AA6082-T6 aluminium wrought alloy, and examines grain size, texture and mechanical properties as a function of processing parameters and tool design, and offers comparison with data from welds made with conventional tools.

Based on the research from 2000 to 2020 in China Knowledge Resource Database (CNKI) as the data source, with the help of CiteSpace V and VOSviewer digital technology, a knowledge map is drawn on the number of articles, issuing organizations and keywords of underground space landscape in China. Visualization technology shows the relationship between the structure, evolution, and cooperation of underground space and landscape research, and intuitively shows the research hotspots and frontier dynamics of underground space landscape in China. The experiments results show that the underground space landscape was in its infancy before 2003, and then it began to develop rapidly. At present, underground space landscape research in China mainly focuses on hot spots such as landscape design, urban underground space, and public space. Through the visualized map analysis of the underground space landscape literature, it shows the use of new energy and new technology to create energy-saving underground buildings will become a new research trend.

Purpose: This paper shows the effects of using Minomi on the provision of long items in the plant area. In details it will be evaluated if the Minomi principle is usable for the provision of long item material at the manufacturing area and what improvements can be achieved. Definitions of the term Minomi and the term long item: The term long item is used in the logistic sector for all materials that are longer than 2.5 meters, require individually packing and have a relatively small cross section [1,2]. The term Minomi has not been clearly defined. In practise, the term Minomi is often associated with a system that does not use boxes for the material provision [3]. Findings: Through the case studies, it has been found that additional advantages can be obtained by using Minomi for the provision of long items than the other existing methods.

Some Facebook status messages get dozens of comments and "likes", while others are not interacted with at all. But is this social success just good luck, or are there certain features that can allow us to predict whether a status will be popular or not? This presentation examines a cross‐section of authentic Facebook status messages in an attempt to figure out what makes a status socially successful. Three types of status message are identified: the narcissistic status, the informative status, and the shared‐reference status. The narcissistic status is the stereotypical expression of emotion or mundane activity, where the audience is less important, and consequently less engaged, than the author. The informative status provides basic information about the user's current location or activity, which can allow him or her to be more easily contacted by friends, but does not tend to inspire much conversation. However, it is the shared‐reference status, which refers to an experience that the author shares with a relatively small group of friends, that inspires the greatest levels of dialogue in the form of comments and "likes." Further details to be discussed include the varieties of shared‐reference status and the relation of Facebook statuses to external perception of them and to real‐life rules of social interaction.
