The 25%Bi2O3-30%B2O3-10%SiO2-35%ZnO (molar ratio, abbreviated as BBSZ) glass were successfully prepared by solid-phase method. The amount of BBSZ glass varied from 1wt% to 5 wt% was optimized and its effects on the sintering behavior, structure and magnetoelectric properties of the Co / Ti doped M-type barium ferrite were investigated by HP 4291B vector analysis, scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and VSM magnetometer respectively. The testing results show that the ferrite could be well sintered at 900°C with excellent performances when the 3wt% BBSZ is added. The initiative permeability and cut-off frequency are 13.5 and 800MHz, respectiveley, which suggests that this material is a candidate for application in the fabrication of chip inductors by the technology of low temperature cofired ceramics and ferrites (LTCC).

Synthetic perovskite powder (SPP) was synthesized by the solid-phase method using metatitanic acid (TiO2·nH2O) and calcium carbonate (CaCO3) as raw materials, and its structure, morphology, pigment properties and application in architectural coatings were studied. When TiO2·nH2O and CaCO3 were mixed and ground at a molar ratio of TiO2:CaO = 1:1, and then calcined at 900–1100 °C, SPP with a single perovskite phase was obtained. The characterization results displayed that the unit particle size of SPP was 50–150 nm, the aggregate size was 1–2 μm, and its particles were well dispersed. The SPP also had a whiteness of 90.5%, and an oil absorption of 35.03 g/100 g. The hiding power of SPP was 24.02 g/m2, which was 81.6% of pure TiO2 hiding power (19.60 g/m2). When adding SPP to prepare a building exterior wall coating, the contrast ratio of the coating film was 0.92, which met the requirements of the Chinese national standard GB/T 9755-2014 and was equivalent to adding rutile titanium dioxide. Thus, perovskite synthesized from TiO2·nH2O and CaCO3 by the solid-phase method significantly improved the pigment properties of TiO2 in the same proportion.

Abstract Mn0.68Bi0.32OCl mix-crystals for supercapacitor were successfully synthesized via a facile solid-phase method using Bi(NO3)3 and MnCl2 with molar ratio of 1:1 as precursors. The Mn0.68Bi0.32OCl mix-crystals were characterized by scanning electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, Brunauer-Emmett-Teller surface area measurements and thermogravimetry and differential scanning calorimetry, respectively. Cyclic voltammetry and galvanostatic charge/discharge technique were performed for the Mn0.68Bi0.32OCl mix-crystals in 1 M Na2SO4 aqueous solutions; the specific capacitance of Mn0.68Bi0.32OCl was about 203 F.g-1 at the current density of 3 A. g-1 with a long life time, owing to the high power density of Mn0.68Bi0.32OCl mix-crystals and the higher surface area, good conductivity, and high stability of the Mn0.68Bi0.32OCl mix-crystals.

It is always a goal of scientists to develop new techniques to identify the composition of mantle materials and understand geodynamic processes accurately. Ferropericlase (Mg,Fe)O is a prominent mineral in the lower mantel. It is a common practice in the research community to prepare ferropericlase using a solid-phase synthesis method or high-pressure experiment synthesis method. This conventional method contains a number of ambiguities a great deal of time is needed. In this paper, we have addressed the drawbacks of the conventional technique using a liquid-phase synthesis method to prepare ferropericlase. During the experiment, oxalic acid was added to a mixed solution of ferrous sulfate and magnesium chloride and mixed according to the molar ratio. The formed magnesium iron oxalate precipitate was sintered and reduced into the final sample. Furthermore, the final sample was analyzed using XRD and SEM. Compared to the solid-phase method, this coprecipitation method could produce ferropericlase with a shorter sintering time, lower sintering temperature, and a reduction in the amount of gas consumed. XRD and SEM results show that the liquid-phase method produced samples with better composition homogeneity.

Analogs of angiotensin II in which phenylalanine in position 8 was replaced with cymantrenylalanine or with its triphenylphosphine photosubstitution product were synthesized by the solid-phase method. On rabbit aorta strips, these peptides were found to be pure antagonists of angiotensin II. Their relative affinities are higher than most other analogs substituted in position 8 with bulky amino-acids.

In an attempt to determine some of the structural features in position 1 that account for V1 antagonism, four new analogues of arginine-vasopressin were synthesized and the effect of the modifications on the vasoconstrictor activity was checked using isolated mesenteric arterial vessels of rats. The protected precursors required for these analogues were synthesized by a solid phase method of peptide synthesis. One of the reported analogues, namely [1-(4-mercapto-4-tetrahydrothiopyraneacetic acid)., 2-O-methyltyrosine, 8-arginine]vasopressin appears to be a potent competitive antagonist of the vasoconstrictor effect by AVP.

Two {Met(0)6}deacetyl-thymosin β4analogs containing Phe(4F) or Tyr(Me) at position 12 were synthesized by the manual solid-phase method, and their anti-inflammatory effect on carrageenin-induced edema in the mouse paw was studied. Fluorination of the para-position of Phe12resulted in a marked antiinflammatory effect on carrageenin-induced edema in the mouse paw compared with that of our synthetic {Met(0)6}deacetyl-thymosin β4, but the other analog, {Met(0)6, Tyr(Me)12}deacetyl-thymosin β4, showed a marked reduction of the anti-inflammatory effect.

Al2O3-TiC-ZrO2ceramic composites (ATZ) were fabricated by hot-pressed sintering. The phases and microstructure of the composites were studied by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The relative density and mechanical properties (flexural strength, fracture toughness and Vicker’s hardness) of the composites were tested. The results show that the microstructure of the composites was the gray core-white rim. With the increase of sintering temperature, the relative density and mechanical properties of the composites increased first and then decreased. The composite sintered at 1705°C has the highest synthetical properties, and its relative density, flexural strength, fracture toughness and Vickers hardness are 98.3%,970MPa,6.0 MPa•m1/2and 20.5GPa, respectively.
