The actual operating parameters of the vertical pneumatic conveying of milled peat are determined by numerical methods on the grounds of the pressure differential in the pneumatic conveying pipeline section and flow rates known from experience. The assessment of the influence of the main operating parameters on the coefficient of relative slip of the air and solid phases is carried out.

Rotary seed sorters used for wheat processing show some functional advantages in eliminating persistent contaminants, especially due to the more aggressive treatment applied to the processed material. The objective of this paper was to design a new constructive subassembly that would increase the performance of rotary sorters used for extracting various contaminants from seeds. By testing a pilot stand that reproduces the operation of a professional equipment and developing mathematical models that fits the main operating parameters, it was possible to identify the new characteristics needed to improve cylindrical sieves and to optimize the functioning of this equipment.

Applicable configuration alteration of the electrodeionization (EDI)process commonly for pure water production was carried out to treat dilute nickel wastewater in this paper. The effects of major operating parameters such as applied voltage, dilute and concentrate stream flow rates on the performance of EDI process were investigated systematically. The results showed that, with the feed water containing 50mg·L-1 Ni2+ and pH of 5.7, the dilute resistivity of the EDI could reach higher than 1.0MΩ·cm which gave a Ni2+ rejection more than 99.8% while the Ni2+ was concentrated as high as 1564mg·L-1 in the concentrate stream by optimizing the operating parameters. It was indicated that pure water production and concentrating of heavy metal ions could be simultaneously accomplished via EDI technology just in one process, valuable heavy metal and water resource could be recovered as well.

In the article, a drying scheme in a tower grain dryer has been developed, equations for the conservation of energy and material balance for grain, equations for mass transfer and heat transfer between the drying agent and grain have been drawn up. On their basis, analytical dependences of changes in the temperature and moisture content of grain, moisture content and temperature of the drying agent along and in the width of the drying channel were obtained, depending on the operating parameters (the value of rarefaction in the drying channel, the speed of grain movement along the drying channel, the speed of movement of the drying agent, the initial temperatures of the grain and drying agent, initial moisture content of grain, as well as initial moisture content of drying agent). Their analysis facilitates the work in choosing the optimal mode. The developed analytical dependences of changes in the main drying parameters (moisture and temperature of grain, moisture content and temperature of the drying agent) along the length and width of the drying channel in tower dryers with suction air flow make it possible to link the main operating parameters, which facilitate the choice of rational drying modes.

Aim at the actual operating condition of Su Cuo buried oil pipeline, the simulation model of this pipeline operation was built by the simulation software of TLNET to simulate the running states of pipeline in different operating conditions. With the target of saving energy and reducing consumption, the operating parameters of this pipeline with different throughput and different seasons were optimized, and the optimization results can be used to guide the pipeline operation.

The high salinity oil wastewaters contained high salt, chloride, total hydrocarbon concentrations with COD and TSS. In order to treat this wastewater a sequential UF and RO ractor system was used. Before membrane treatment the oil was floated with an API oil separator. The effects of increasing fluxes ( 12 L/h, 30 L/h and 50 l /h) and pressures (4 bar , 8 bar and 16 bar ) on the removals of pollutant parametres were studied in the UF. The influence of the main operating parameters suh as operating pressure (15, 35 and 50 bar), temperature (25, 40 and 55 °C) and feed flowrate (7, 14, 28 L/min, were studied in RO. The maximum salt , chloride, total hydrocarbon, COD,dis-COD, and TSS yields were 90%, 91%, 89%, 89%, 89% and 90%, respectively, at a flux of 60 L/m2.h and at a pressure of 16 bar in UF, respectively. The maximum RO yields in the permeate were around 99% for the pollutant parameters given above at afed flowrate of 28 L/min at 24 bar pressure.

To mitigate the potential environmental risks caused by nitrogen compounds from industrial wastewater, residual ammonia after conventional wastewater treatment should be further eliminated. In this work, an electrochemical oxidation process for converting ammonia to nitrogen in actual dyeing wastewater was investigated. The effects of the main operating parameters, including initial pH value, applied current density, NaCl concentration, and flow, were investigated on ammonia removal and products distribution. Experimental results indicated that, under optimal conditions of an initial pH value of 8.3, applied current density of 20 mA cm−2, NaCl concentration of 1.0 g L−1, and flow of 300 mL min−1, the ammonia could be completely removed with N2 selectivity of 88.3% in 60 min electrolysis. A kinetics investigation using a pseudo-first-order model provided a precise description of ammonia removal during the electro-oxidation process. Experimental functions for describing the relationships between kinetic constants of ammonia removal and main operating parameters were also discussed. Additionally, the mechanisms and economic evaluation of ammonia oxidation were conducted. All these results clearly proved that this electro-oxidation process could efficiently remove ammonia and achieve high N2 selectivity.

The present project consisted in the design, development and early testing of a device for the monitoring of the distribution of zootechnical effluents using raingun distribution systems with the aim of defining a system that is reliable and objective that is useful both in farm management and to certify the activities carried out with respect to environmental regulations. The proposed system leads to the integration of the records of the main operating parameters of the distribution process (flow rate, range, quantity of distributed sewage) with those regarding operating times and distance covered by the gun-supporting trolley (measured through a GPS receiver). The main strength of said device lies in its autonomy in terms of power supply: the slurry flowing inside the pipe is used to generate, through a dynamo, an amount of electric power that is sufficient to ensure its operation.
