ABSTRACT Objective: to analyze the mobile apps on heart failure available in the main operating systems and their usability. Methods: benchmarking of mobile applications, systematic research, comprising 38 mobile applications for analysis of general information, functionalities and usability. Usability was assessed using System Usability Scale and Smartphone Usability Questionnaire, followed by the calculation of the agreement index and the exact binomial distribution test, with a significance level of p> 0.05 and a proportion of 0.90. Results: mobile applications had English as the predominant language (73.7%), were directed to patients (71.1%) and the predominant theme was disease knowledge (34.2%). Functionalities ranged from general features to the need for an internet connection. In assessing usability, heart failure was shown to be 92.1% -94.7% and p <0.05. Final considerations: the mobile apps on heart failure have varied content and adequate usability. However, there is a need to develop more comprehensive mobile applications.

To reduce the load on the freight cars frames under operational conditions, it has been suggested that to use fillers in their components. Fillers using is advisable in the most loaded elements of the bearing structure, namely, the spine beam. Therefore, a necessary condition for filler using in the spine beam is the creation of its closed structure. The dynamic load of railcars was carried out, taking into account the proposed provisions. Calculations have shown with filler using, the maximum accelerations acting on the bearing structures of wagons are 4% lower than those accelerations obtained for bearing structures without fillers. The results of determining the main strength indicators of bearing structures of freight cars are presented, taking into account the fillers using in their components. It has been established that the strength of the frames of the considered types of wagons under the main operating conditions is ensured. At the same time, the maximum equivalent stresses in the bearing structures of wagons are 4-9% lower than those in typical frame structures. The conducted research will contribute to the creation of innovative structures of rolling stock and reduce the cost of its maintenance work in operation.

This study reports on the development of an operating model for an EPB Shield TBM simulator by the correlation between operating parameters. First, four main operating parameters required for excavation are analyzed, then multiple regression analysis estimates their requirements depending on the ground conditions and the TBM’s specifications. Further multiple regression analysis then determines the interactions between six operational actions and ten mechanical responses. Operating procedures are established, and interlock and warning alarm systems are designed for use in the operating model. Lastly, several simulations were tested for the operating model of the TBM simulator under various conditions.

Companies have been trying continuously to reduce their logistics costs in the current competitive markets. Warehouses are important components of the logistics systems and they must be managed effectively and efficiently to reduce the production cost as well as maintain customer satisfaction. Order-picking is the core of warehouse operations and an order-picking system (OPS) is essential to meet customer needs and orders. Failure to perform the OPS process properly results in high costs and customer dissatisfaction. This research aims to investigate the state of the art in the adoption of OPS and provide a broad systemic analysis on main operating strategies such as simultaneous consideration of order assignment, batching, sequencing, tardiness, and routing need. This study reviews 92 articles, classifies combinations of tactical and operational OPS problems, and provides guidelines on how warehouse managers can benefit from combining planning problems, in order to design efficient OPS and improve customer service. Combining multiple order-picking planning problems results in substantial efficiency benefits, which are required to face new market developments.

Abstract The symptoms associated to the occurrence of typical faults in a heating, ventilation and air-conditioning (HVAC) system, including a single duct dual fan constant air volume air-handling unit, have been experimentally characterized. The operation of the HVAC unit with 3 artificially forced faults ((1) reduced velocity of the supply air fan, (2) reduced velocity of the return air fan, (3) the valve supplying the humidifier kept always closed) has been analysed and compared with that of healthy operation of the same plant under very similar boundary conditions (outside air temperature and initial indoor air temperature) during Italian summer and winter in order to preliminarily assess (i) the effects on the main operating parameters, and (ii) generate preliminary operation data to assist further research in fault detection and diagnosis of HVAC systems.

It is known that the service life of oilfield machines and mechanisms is to a certain extent determined by the operability of friction units, the operation of which, as a rule, occurs under severe conditions (heavy loads, abrasive aqueous medium, etc.). It is also known that the determining parameters in the units of machines and mechanisms (lubricated with water) with polymer elements are specific load, sliding speed and relative clearance. In the field, these factors affect the coefficient of friction together, therefore, the study of their influence [µ = f (p, ʋ, ψ)] on the coefficient of friction is possible only with the use of mathematical modeling. We have studied the nature of the joint influence of the main operating parameters on the performance of the ison thermoplastic elastomer plain bearings. Keywords: Operation, polymer elements, field conditions, bearings, sliding speed.

AbstractThe Covid-19 crisis has radically changed the game for world and EU-economies, and urged for a reappraisal of the guidelines for a healthy management of public expenditure. This requires a deep rethinking of the role of public debt in modern capitalistic economies and of efficient, equitable and politically viable ways of financing it. This paper outlines the main operating framework of a Debt Agency tasked with the management of the Eurozone sovereign debts and the creation of a truly European safe asset. The framework leverages on the potential irredeemable nature of sovereign debts in order to build a common bond. By structurally filtering liquidity risk, the Debt Agency can price the Member States’ funding costs by referring only to their credit risk, as defined by EU agreed rules. The common bond issued by the Debt Agency thus avoids mutualisation by design; hence, it can be directly bought by the ECB. Due to its structural intertemporal sustainability, the Debt Agency’s framework delineated in this paper can serve as a benchmark for institutional and political decisions. In this perspective, a counterfactual exercise has been conducted in order to evaluate the future potential impact of the Debt Agency as well as the past distortions in market pricing of Member States’ fundamental risk due to market mispricing of the liquidity risk.
