E-learning is a learning system based on formalized teaching but with the help of electronic resources (Asad et al., 2020). The article is devoted to the consideration of the idea of content and language integrated learning (CLIL) in the system of education and the analysis of new concepts and approaches of school education developed in methodological science, taking into account their influence on the motivation of school students to learn English language. The revitalization of the educational activity has always been one of the primary tasks of teaching in general. The CLIL methodology is compared with the ESP and EMI methodologies. This learning model does not imply a complete rejection of traditional teaching methods and combines both the advantages of face-to-face studies (contact with a teacher, group methods of work, language and speech practice, the possibility of feedback) and the advantages of distance learning (an individual approach, differentiation of learning, ample opportunities for the implementation of project activities, optimization of independent work, the formation of language and speech skills and abilities. Modern teaching aids, including e-distance learning tools, provide teachers with ample opportunities for implementing a competency-based approach, providing a comprehensive all-around development of a school student's personality through the subjects studied. With the help of distance educational technologies, it is possible not only to shift a number of routine pedagogical actions onto the shoulders of a computer but also to organize high-quality, individual, differentiated education. The article presents strong theoretical information about CLIL and its importance. Also, the article contains results of qualitative research with conducted questionnaires among school students in grades 10-11 of a general education school.

The article analyzes the problems of the introduction of electronic and distance learning in rural schools in Russia. Using the example of the Tomsk region, the level and quality of electronic and distance learning are analyzed, the main models of their application are highlighted; a project for organizing a unified educational platform with distributed municipal centers is proposed. At the same time, teachers have insufficiently developed skills in organizing e-learning, evaluating the quality of education by means of special programs, creating and using representations of mathematical objects and processes, constructing three-dimensional models on a computer (using a 3D printer), visualizing data, relationships, processes, processing statistics data, etc. The long lockdowns introduced in the results of the pandemic forced all teachers to reconsider their attitude to the processes of informatization of the education system. There was an acute question not only about the competence of a teacher who was not ready for the qualitative implementation of the educational process using modern communication capabilities, but also issues of educational process management, the use of e-learning tools and technologies.

International (operational and training) activities carried out by law enforcement officers have been accompanied by the growing realisation of the fact that it is essential for those involved in them to communicate efficiently, in one common language, basically English. However, even in the last few years, the gaps between the foreign language skills of the law enforcement professionals and the need for further foreign (mainly English) language training courses have been underlined several times in international professional and legal documents. Also, the fact that specific-purpose English language courses continue to be important content elements of the curricula both of national law enforcement training institutions and the two largest EU agencies involved in the training of police officers, as well as border and coast guards (CEPOL and Frontex), proves that this problem still exists. Using the qualitative research and providing an overview and evaluation of the most significant e-learning trends and tools used in teaching English for Law Enforcement by CEPOL and Frontex in the last decade, the paper discusses the progress made in this field in terms of both quality and methodology. It presents technical limitations of certain e-learning tools and points to the course developers’ ensuing realisation that the virtual or real presence of the teacher is indispensable in language courses.
