Qualitative research is a type of scientific research which includes document analysis, observation or interview. Qualitative research process describes the events in the natural environment realistically and holistically. Although quantitative research methods are mostly used in educational sciences, qualitative research methods are also used by the educational science researchers. An Introduction to Qualitative Research by Uwe Flick (2014) is an ideal guide for educational science researchers in regard to qualitative research methods and techniques.

ABSTRACT  The purpose of this research is to find out the promotion and marketing strategy for steel companies in Indonesia. The research method used in this research is qualitative and quantitative research methods. Qualitative research methods include interviews with resource persons and product users (extreme users and expert users) as well as literature studies of journals related to light steel, promotion, and marketing strategy. This study aimed to start an effort to evaluate the quality of thesis institutionally. The purpose of this study is to determine the quality of the thesis and determine the achievement of the quality of the thesis as a research work. This study is a descriptive evaluation. The study was conducted at the Department of PAI FITK IAIN Surakarta. The results showed several things. First, the majority of PAI student thesis in 2012 used qualitative research methods. Second, the quality of PAI student thesis in 2012 were generally good, on the thesis that uses quantitative and qualitative research methods. Third, the thesis uses quantitative research methods have a higher quality index than the thesis that uses qualitative research methods. Fourth, for the thesis used quantitative research methods showing the low quality of the elements present in the background of the problem and framework of thinking. Fifth, for the thesis used qualitative research methods showing the low quality of the elements contained in the title of the study andbackground of the problem

Social work students are drawn to qualitative research methods, perhaps because of their experience with interviewing and their interest in process. However, since students need to learn both qualitative and quantitative research methods because both are used in the literature, instructors are challenged to teach both types of methods in one course. The purpose of this article is to illustrate one method used to teach qualitative research methods to undergraduate social work students. The model presents a narrative analysis and moves students from raw data to an analytical model.

The general aim of this research is to analyze the graduate dissertations on migration in education and training in Turkey. Dissertations are aimed to be discussed in terms of years, types, departments, research methods, data analysis methods, migration handling methods. This content analysis study has been designed with qualitative research methods. 34 master thesis and 7 doctoral dissertations, totally 41 dissertations on migration on education and training which have been being on YÖK (Higher Education Board) database in Turkey were examined in this research. Research results show that, researchers mostly used qualitative research methods. According to research results, using qualitative research methods in dissertations have been followed by quantitative research methods, survey model, mixed research methods, experimental model, field research and case study. Mostly migration abroad and education, internal migration and reflections on education in various dimensions were investigated in graduate dissertations on migration in education and training in Turkey. In future, thesis on migration in Turkey can be examined on the other fields like economy, sociology, and politics.

Urban forest research using quantitative research methods has enabled researchers and policymakers to make informed decisions. Using qualitative research methods may increase our understanding and knowledge of the urban forest. This article describes the nature of qualitative research, describes why it has not been a common research method in urban forestry, and illustrates what role it may have in urban forest research. We conclude that qualitative research may enrich our knowledge and understanding of the urban forest.

The onset of the COVID-19 pandemic has seen the implementation of unprecedented social distancing measures, restricting social interaction and with it the possibility for conducting face-to-face qualitative research. This paper provides lessons from a series of qualitative research projects that were adapted during the COVID-19 pandemic to ensure their continuation and completion. By reflecting on our experiences and discussing the opportunities and challenges presented by crises to the use of a number of qualitative research methods, we provide a series of insights and lessons for proactively building resilience into the qualitative research process. We show that reflexivity, responsiveness, adaptability, and flexibility ensured continuity in the research projects and highlighted distinct advantages to using digital methods, providing lessons beyond the COVID-19 context. The paper concludes with reflections on research resilience and adaptation during crises.

The complimentary nature of qualitative and quantitative research methods are examined with respect to a study assessing the market's view of a training and development institute in the Middle East. The qualitative portion consisted of focus groups conducted with seven distinct market segments served by the institute. The results proved insightful with respect to uncovering and understanding differences of opinion among the seven groups; however, taken alone, the qualitative research would have been very misleading with respect to the institute's standing in the Middle East.

This book is about the different philosophical paradigms and ideas that influence qualitative research. Its aim is to discuss and evaluate the ways that philosophical positions inform qualitative research as currently practiced. Unlike other contributions to the field, this book takes a historical perspective and shows how the philosophical ideas have evolved and influenced qualitative research in previous times and today. Today, qualitative researchers often report on their philosophical commitments (if they do so at all) in a separate section of their papers, but this book is written from the perspective that philosophical ideas influence everything in the research process from the first formulation of a research theme to the final reporting of the results. Therefore, it is preferable to highlight how this happens. Philosophy should thus not be thought of as a purely abstract discipline, disconnected from the practicalities of research, but rather as a concrete and pervasive aspect of all qualitative research practices. This book does not provide in-depth treatments of qualitative methods and techniques such as interviewing, document analysis, or participant observation, but rather aims to introduce and discuss the philosophical issues that are relevant regardless of the specific methods employed by qualitative researchers.
