Abstract: This article aims to describe the healing ministry as a form of urgent pastoral care during the Covid 19 pandemic. This search aims to find concepts or forms of healing ministry in the Bible and the thoughts of the scholars about church healing services. That since the beginning of 2020 until now, many people have been exposed to the covid 19 virus, making them sick, difficult and suffering. This situation calls the church to perform healing ministries. Abstrak: Artikel ini bertujuan untuk menggambarkan tentang healing ministry atau pelayanan kesembuhan sebagai salah satu bentuk pelayanan pastoral yang mendesak pada masa pandemi Covid 19. Penelusuran ini bertujuan untuk menemukan konsep atau bentuk-bentuk pelayanan kesembuhan dalam Alkitab dan pemikiran-pemikiran para ahli tentang pelayanan kesembuhan gereja. Bahwa sejak awal tahun 2020 hingga kini, banyak masyarat yang telah terpapar viruis covid 19, sehingga sakit, susah dan menderita. Keadaan yang demikian ini memanggil gereja untuk melakukan pelayanan kesembuhan.

Communicating faith in a pluriform worldThe pluriformity of the postmodern world presents the church with challenges on different levels. The theological discourse can be based on the pluriformity inherent to biblical material, as well as on the dynamic dialectic of the great variety of theologies in the Bible. The principle of symmetrical communication serves as an example of how pastoral care to a postmodern society can be approached. By making use of narrative communication, pastors facilitate genuine intersubjectivity. Preachers adhere to the principle of symmetrical communication when their sermons are characterized by an authentic spirituality and spiritual growth.

One focus of church service is to prepare Christian families who live righteously through premarital counseling.Marriage is prepared for a lifetime.One of the efforts of the church in realizing church members who live holy lives is by giving teachings about love and choosing a partner according to the Bible so that church members do not commit adultery and sexual intercours outside of marriage which results in pregnancy outside of marriage.  This study aims to understand marriage and build a Christian family that is in accordance with the Bible and provide understanding that having sexual relation not within the container of Christian marriage is adultery so that both men and women need to confess their sins before God.  It was concluded that the Church is responsible for providing pastoral care to couples who become pregnant out of wedlock.The church in carrying out the principle of love still observes the rules so that the maturity of the church members become realized.

Die Pinksterbeweging het met verloop van tyd sy begrip van die leer van goddelike genesing verander. Die veranderings is hoofsaaklik as gevolg van vorderings wat deur die mediese wetenskap gemaak is en die pinksterteologie moes opnuut die verhouding tussen versoening en heling definieer. Die veranderings word in terme van die geskiedenis van die wit afdeling van die Apostoliese Geloof Sending van Suid-Afrika (AGS), die grootste pinksterdenominasie in Suid-Afrika, beskryf. Dit dien tot ’n groot mate as verteenwoordigend van veranderings in die res van die AGS, maar ook van die Pinksterbeweging as sodanig. Die ontleding toon dat die veranderde houding teenoor die gebruik van medisyne en inenting sowel as mediese prosedures soos operasies pinksterkerke uiteindelik dwing om toegewings in sy genesingsbediening te maak wat aan sy Skrifbeskouing verwant is. Dat die kerk veranderings aanbring in ’n belangrike leerstelling soos dié van goddelike genesing, hou belangrike implikasies vir die kerk in. Die implikasies hou verband met die wyse waarop die pinkstermense die Bybel lees en benut en dit noodsaak die Pinksterbeweging om ook oor ander leerstellings na te dink wat uitdagings daaraan stel, byvoorbeeld die eskatologie en ekklesiologie.Implications of developments in die doctrine of divine healing in die Pentecostal movement. The Pentecostal movement changed over time its understanding of the doctrine of divine healing. These changes are mainly in the attitude towards the advances made by medical science and reflected in the way pentecostal theology defined the relation between atonement and healing. The changes are described in terms of the history of the white division of the Apostolic Faith Mission of South Africa (AFM), the largest pentecostal denomination within South Africa. It serves to a large extent as representative of the changes in the AFM, but also the Pentecostal movement per se. The analysis shows that the changed attitude towards the use of medicine and vaccination as well as medical procedures such as operations eventually forced pentecostal churches to make concessions in its healing ministry, leading to changes in its scriptural view of the doctrine under consideration. That the church changed in aspects related to such an important doctrine poses important challenges that it must take note of. These implications are related to the way pentecostal people read and use the Bible and require that the church reflect on other doctrines that also challenge the Pentecostal movement, like its eschatology and ecclesiology.

Healing service happens everywhere. However, the healing service practice in Africa, as practised by several preachers from South Africa, Nigeria, Malawi and Zimbabwe, is more phenomenal and has a significant impact towards the Christianity in the world. One of the impacts is the emergence of religious tourism. This study observes that the service success is supported by two things, namely a deep understanding and the strong foundation on the theology of biblical healing, which trigger the presence of faith, on the one hand, and on the other hand the presence of invisible but very real support from the power of media popularising this practice to all over the world. It is concluded that even though it must be tightly controlled, mediatisation is an adaptive step to introduce the mission of the church and news related to the Bible to the modern society. Christianity has to accept this step as the updated step.Intradisciplinary and/or interdisciplinary implications: This article takes an interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary approach to media’s role and uses in today’s Christian ministry. The presence of the media and its optimisation for evangelism are supported by global theology.

The current pandemic has seen some adverse reactions from the most diverse religious groups all over the world to government regulations. After having described some of their manifestations, this contribution analyzes what the Bible and some post biblical (patristic and Talmudic) traditions say about illness and pandemics. As it is ascertained that these sources contain very limited material on these subjects, the third part of this article proposes some ethical reflections regarding the official response to the pandemic as well as some pastoral implications. Here, Bramadat offers an ethnographic study of the Inter-Varsity Christian Fellowship (IVCF) at McMaster University, a group that espouses fundamentalist interpretations of the Bible, women's roles, the age of the earth, alcohol consumption, and sexual ethics. In examining this group, Bramadat demonstrates how this tiny minority thrives within the overwhelmingly secular context of the University.

The doctrine of inspiration grounds Christian use and interpretation of Scripture, making this doctrine at once theoretical and practical. Many theoretical accounts, however, restrict the “inspired” status of biblical texts to a single text-form, which introduces problems for the practical use of Scripture in view of the texts’ historical multiformity. This article argues that such restrictions of inspiration are theologically problematic and unnecessary. Contextualizing inspiration within the divine revelatory economy, this article argues that the Spirit’s same goals and varied activities in the texts’ composition obtain also in their preservation, so that we can consider multiple forms of a text to be inspired while acknowledging that not all forms are inspired to equal ends in the history and life of the church. The article concludes with hermeneutical reflections affirming that we, today, can read the “word of the Lord” while also affirming the place of textual criticism in theological interpretation.
