Mobile Application on Malay Medicinal Plants Based on Information Crowdsourcing is an application that provides information on Malay medicinal plants. The information in this application is obtained from a crowd of people including researchers, Malay villagers, traditional medical practitioners, and the public who are willing to share their knowledge and information on Malay medicinal plants. This project focuses on the use of Malay medicinal plants that contain nutrients which is good for human health. There are a lot of Malay medicinal plants founded by the researcher that can help to treat human illnesses. This project involves crowdsourcing. Crowdsourcing is the best way for people to get information from the researchers and crowd people. This project is related to crowdsourcing information systems. Crowdsourcing information systems are information systems that produce informational products or services for internal or external customers by utilizing the potential of crowd people. This project promotes knowledge sharing and awareness among researchers, Malay villagers, traditional medical practitioners, and local herbs entrepreneurs, and the public towards Malay medicinal plants. This project applies the concept of Wikipedia whereby the information is obtained from a crowd of people. It allows the researchers, Malay villagers, traditional medical practitioners, local herbs entrepreneurs, and the public to share their knowledge and findings on Malay medicinal plants on the internet easily. This project also focuses on motivating the public that there are a lot of Malay medicinal plants that can be used for health care. This project is developed in the Malay language as it provides information on Malay medicinal plants and the target user is Malaysia’s citizens. For future enhancement, this project plan to be developed in English and wider target users from other countries.

Abstract BackgroundIndigenous or traditional herbal medicine has been widely regarded as a resource for strengthening the health care systems among communities of low income countries including Ethiopia. The Yem people in Ethiopia have deep-rooted and ancient traditional knowledge of managing human ailments and health conditions using medicinal plants (mps). On the other hand, mps and the associated indigenous knowledge are under erosion due to human-induced and natural factors. Therefore, documenting the plant biodiversity along with the associated indigenous knowledge is of urgent task for conservation. MethodsThis study was conducted in April, 2013, October, 2016 and July, 2016 with the objective of documenting traditional mps in different land uses that are used for treating human ailments. Ethnobotanical data were collected from 69 informants that were selected by stratified random sampling and purposive sampling. Vegetation data were obtained from 30, 30x30 m quadrats. Ethnobotanical data were analysed using paired ranking, Informant consensus factor and Fidelity Level index. ResultsAbout 213 medicinal plant species that are used for treating 117 human ailments were recorded. ICF calculated depicted a highest ICF value of 0.82 for Gastrointestinal & Visceral organs ailments. Haplocarpha rueppellii, Carduus schimperi and Inula confortiflora each 100%, Maesa lanceolata 80% and Rumex abyssinicus 75%. Vegetation analysis showed three plant communities.ConclusionThe Yem people have rich traditional knowledge of utilising plants side by side with the mainstream biomedical system for maintaining human health care.

In this commentary we further review some of the issues related to the success and failure of COVID-19 vaccines, and the theoretical and practical elements on vaccinations and immunity that the dental health care providers have to be knowledgeable, so as to offer advice and guidance to their team, the patients, as well as the public.

To be able to manage data in the form of a database, it is necessary to develop a web-based information system. For that we need an information system that can facilitate the running of a sales transaction and as a promotional event, so that it is expected to increase sales at the company and compete with other companies. Public relations can be defined relations among the public, showed large public who must perform the connection, and because the public a lot, then indicate the number of relationships. PT. Starvindo Asia Utama only uses brochures as a promotional tool. The purpose of making this web program is to facilitate service sales transactions so that it is more economical, fast and easy without the need to be hindered by distance and time.

The application of telepharmacy opens new perspectives in the provision of health services and contributes to limiting the problem of reduced availability of pharmacists. The aim of the present study is to examine the attitudes towards offering and using telepharmaceutical services in Bulgaria. The study included 379 people, mostly health professionals. The mean age of respondents was 44.38±12.39. Statistical analyses were performed using IBM SPSS Statistics v.23. Over 90% of the respondents use the Internet to search for health information. Many of them read the package leaflet before use. For the most part, respondents are distrustful of food supplements sold on the Internet. More than 56% claim they would not buy prescription medicines online or via a mobile app, even if it was allowed by law. Quite a few would consult a pharmacist for a therapy prescribed at a distance as well as use a mobile application to monitor drug therapy. The spread and acceptance of telepharmacy is a challenge involving cooperation between the public and private sectors, as well as scientific institutions and academia, which is essential for achieving appropriate results and effectively improving health services.

The ability to “write” data to the Internet via tags and barcodes offers a context in which objects will increasingly become a natural extension of the Web, and as ready as the public was to adopt cloud-based services to store address books, documents, photos, and videos, it is likely that we will begin associating data with objects. Leaving messages for loved ones on a tea cup, listening to a story left on a family heirloom, or associating a message with an object to be passed on to a stranger. Using objects as tangible links to data and content on the Internet is predicted to become a significant means of how we interact with the interface of things, places, and people. This chapter explores this potential and focuses upon three contexts in which the technology is already operating in order to reflect upon the impact that the technology process may have upon social processes. These social processes are knowledge browsing, knowledge recovery, and knowledge sharing.

Despite recent scientific advancement and globalization, the system of traditional medicine and complementary/alternative medicine is considered as a primary health care modality in the resource-constrained health care settings. Herbal medicinal system has been postulated and established through empirical observation and trial and error experiments since time immemorial to maintain good health and alleviate ailments and diseases. Earlier, the importance of traditional medicinal plants and phytotherapy have often been disregarded and undervalued. Presently revitalization and renewed interest on traditional medicinal plants has been observed among the public and scientific community. However, several daunting challenges need to be flagged effectively and immediately for the promotion of traditional medicinal plants. The collaborative efforts of ethnobotanists, anthropologists, pharmacists, and physicians could be a workable strategy to evaluate and validate the usage of traditional medicinal plants with the modern scientific methods and innovative techniques. Furthermore, conducting clinical trials to assess their efficacy and human safety is imperative and inevitable.

Essential and nonessential heavy metals like iron (Fe), nickel (Ni), manganese (Mn), zinc (Zn), copper (Cu), cadmium (Cd), chromium (Cr), and lead (Pb) were analyzed in four selected medicinal plants such asCapparis spinosa, Peganum harmala, Rhazya stricta,andTamarix articulataby flame atomic absorption spectrophotometer (FAAS). These medicinal plants are extensively used as traditional medicine for treatment of various ailments by local physicians in the area from where these plants were collected. The concentration level of heavy metals in the selected plants was found in the decreasing order as Fe > Zn > Mn > Cu > Ni > Cr > Cd > Pb. The results revealed that the selected medicinal plants accumulate these elements at different concentrations. Monitoring such medicinal plants for heavy metals concentration is of great importance for physicians, health planners, health care professionals, and policymakers in protecting the public from the adverse effects of these heavy metals.

BACKGROUND India follows a pluralistic system for strategic and focused health care delivery, where the traditional systems of medicine such as Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha, Sowa Rigpa, and Homoeopathy co-exist with Contemporary medicine and functions under the Ministry of AYUSH (MoA). The MoA had developed a mobile application - AYUSH Sanjivani, to document the trends of the utilization of AYUSH based traditional and holistic measures by the public across India. The assessment of data generated through this app would help monitor the extent of the utilization of AYUSH measures for primary prevention and would aid in effective health promotion/communication efforts solely focused on targeted health care delivery in the time of the pandemic. OBJECTIVE The purpose of the study was to determine the extent of utilization of AYUSH advocacies and measures by the public in the prevention of COVID 19, as reported through the mobile app; “AYUSH Sanjivani”. METHODS Cross-sectional analysis of the data, generated through the AYUSH Sanjivani app from 4th May 2020 to 31st July 2020 was done to study the pattern and extend of the utilization of AYUSH-based measures by the public. The responses of respondents in terms of demographic profile, utilization pattern, benefits obtained, the association between the use of AYUSH based measures and incidence of COVID-19, symptomatic status, and also between duration of use of AYUSH based measures were evaluated based on the bivariate and multivariate logistic regression analysis. RESULTS Among the data of 723459 respondents, 85.1% reported utilizing AYUSH measures for prevention of COVID-19, out of which 89.8% reported to have benefitted from it. Improvement in parameters of general well-being was reported by 63.4% of the users. Respondents who were using AYUSH based measures for less than 30 days were more likely to be COVID positive (Odds-ratio 1.52(95% CI 1.44 -1.60)). The odds of non-users of AYUSH based measures being symptomatic, if they are tested positive is more compared to users (Odds-ratio 4.01(95% CI 3.61 - 4.59)). CONCLUSIONS The findings of this cross-sectional analysis assert that a good proportion of the representative population has practiced AYUSH measures, across different geo-locations of the country, during the COVID pandemic and have benefitted considerably in terms of general well being and reduced incidence of COVID 19.
