This article intends to clarify the role of mathematics in the study of fiqh. Apart from inheritance, the study of astronomy is in direct contact with the improvement of fiqh worship, especially the prayers and fasting of Ramadan. However, its role is a supporter that must be strengthened by the main fiqh sources. This is evident in the process of determining the initial time of the five daily prayers. Through literature explanations relating to the coordinate system of celestial bodies, a celestial spherical triangle can be formulated in sin, cos and tangent which can be converted into measurements of praying time on earth. So it is not wrong if falak also knows the science of Hisab

Abstract Mysticism as Act. Philosophy and Spirituality in Maurice Blondel Mysticism plays a crucial role at the background of Maurice Blondel’s ‘philosophy of action’ (1893). In the years after his main work, his interest for mysticism increases. The discussion about the role of mysticism is even the battlefield of his debate with Jacques Maritain (1882–1973), who criticizes Blondel of allowing in his philosophy a direct contact with the Divine. Maritain does not accuse Blondel of ‘modernism’, but is very close to it. In order to explain his understanding of mysticism, the article outlines the intensive cooperation between Blondel and Henri Bremond (1865–1933). Blondel was of main influence for Bremond’s text on poetry and prayer in which mysticism plays an important role. At the end of the article the role of this discussion on mysticism and philosophy for Blondel’s social philosophy has been elaborated.

A present-day task of historical GIS is to geotag ancient maps within еру modern coordinate system. These maps are sure to have many inaccuracies. In this regard, there is a need to develop algorithms accounting for these inaccuracies and allowing one to position sources with the smallest deformations and drawbacks. This task is also relevant for Russian plans of the General Survey. Their peculiarity is that they have accurate geodetic characteristics of plots. The research subject is a set of Nizhny Novgorod plans of the late 18th сentury which were the basis for a technique used to reconstruct the city borders and land survey plans. The research methodology is based on the historicism principal, systematicity and objectivity. The authors emphasize the role of statistical methods and apply specifically historical (historical and typological as well as historical and genetic) methods, the geodetic method to process and equalize transit traverse, modeling and cartometry. The research novelty is determined by the algorithm of city borders and historical land survey plans reconstruction, technological solutions for studying the object by means of geodetic programs, new data on land management and cartographic materials based on land management results in the specific region of Russia. The main conclusions are the positioned borders of Nizhny Novgorod in the conditional coordinate system. It was found that transit traverses of plots studied had significant angle linear errors. For settlement plots they are 3°29' and 1/31 and for pasture plots they are 2°49' and 1/80. For Blagoveshchenskiy Monastery they are 0°37’and 1/139. A raster land survey plan of Nizhny Novgorod has been made. It can be further used for geotagging and creating historical GIS.

Celestial objects are always present in the form of symbols depicted in rock paintings, nekara, megalithic concepts, symbols of royal triumph and in conventional myths as can be found in the ethnographic data of several tribes in Indonesia. In general, celestial bodies, especially the sun, moon and stars are symbols whose rays are considered to be the source of life, the light of truth and justice that are expected to be able to illuminate mankind. In their development, the role of celestial bodies has shifted from a religious function to a global function that tends to be profane, which includes social and political functions. However, the presence of a symbol representing an infinite character always exists as a generator of feelings of togetherness and a deeper attachment than just a verbal formulation.

The role of cAMP phosphodiesterase in the cAMP-mediated aggregation of the cellular slime mould Dictyostelium discoideum was investigated with a morphogenetic mutant defective in phosphodiesterase production. Mutant cells become capable of aggregating normally when incubated in the presence of exogenous phosphodiesterase isolated from Idictyostelium or rat brain. Direct contact between enzyme and the cell membrane is not required for this phenotypic suppression. The aggregateless character of this strain presumably results from an over-accumulation of cAMP in the extracellular medium since aggregation can be induced in the absence of added phosphodiesterase under conditions facilitating diffusion of the nucleotide. This suggests that phosphodiesterase is not involved in the generation or recognition of cAMP signals, but that the enzyme is essential in the control of the cAMP signal-to-noise ratio.

The questions connected with constructing modern systems of autonomous navigation for spacecraft are considered. Increasing importance of these systems is shown, which is due to: a sharp increase in a number of spacecraft launches and congestion of on-ground control centers; and a necessity to provide more accurate and timely determination of motion parameters and motion control of spacecraft during their flights to the Solar System's celestial bodies. Importance of the star sighting and angular measurements connected with stars for adequate solution of space navigation problems is shown. Thus the star catalogues play a significant role for constructing navigational algorithms.

The mechanism by which diabetes results in an increase in small intestinal cholesterol synthesis is unknown. Previous studies have demonstrated that limiting food intake prevents the increase in intestinal cholesterol synthesis, and it has therefore been proposed that the stimulation of cholesterol synthesis in the small intestine is secondary to the hyperphagia that is associated with poorly controlled diabetes. To shed further light on the role of hyperphagia we have studied the effect on cholesterol synthesis of a variety of conditions that increase food intake. In third-trimester pregnant animals, lactating animals, obese animals, and in animals infused intragastrically with 16 g glucose/day vs. 8 g glucose/day, we have observed that an increase in food intake is associated with an increase in small intestinal cholesterol synthesis. Furthermore, these findings support the hypothesis that hyperphagia is the chief stimulus for the increase in cholesterol synthesis in the small intestine of diabetic animals. Additional studies have demonstrated that simply increasing the bulk of food ingested by adding Alphacel to the diet does not alter cholesterol synthesis in the small intestine. Lastly, in animals in whom Thiry fistulas were surgically constructed we observed that cholesterol synthesis is increased in the diabetic animals in both the segment of the small intestine in contact with the food stream and the segment of the small intestine that is excluded from contact. This observation suggests that the direct contact of the intestinal mucosa with caloric sources is not the sole trigger for increasing small intestinal cholesterol synthesis in hyperphagic diabetic animals.(ABSTRACT TRUNCATED AT 250 WORDS)

Introduction The development of peritoneal metastases is a significant clinical issue in the treatment of abdominal cancers and is associated with poor prognosis. We have previously shown that ICAM-1-CD43 interaction plays a significant role in tumor adhesion. However, an invasive phenotype is critical to establish tumor progression via cell associated and secreted proteases including matrix metalloproteinases. High metalloproteinases level significantly enhanced metastasis phenotype on tumors, a detrimental effect on surgical outcome. We investigated the role of direct and indirect signaling between the mesothelium and the tumor cells in enhancing tumor invasion and possible therapeutic intervention. Methods Mesothelial cells were enzymatically derived from human omental tissue and implanted in 24 wells plates. Colorectal cancer cells were then introduced and allowed a direct and an indirect contact with the mesothelial layer. Anti-ICAM antibodies, anti-CD43 antibodies, and heparin were used to block MMP production. Gelatin zymography was performed on the supernatant to detect MMPs activity. Results MMP production was observed in mesothelial and tumor cells. Direct contact between cell types enhanced MMP9 and 2 (p < 0.05). Indirect contact also stimulate MMPs but at a lower degree. ICAM-1 blocking antibodies attenuated MMP production in direct contact to that observed in the indirect. Heparin introduction achieved a similar outcome. Conclusions ICAM-1-CD43 interaction plays a vital role in tumor cells-peritoneum adhesion and invasion, which is manifested by the increased production of MMPs leading to tumor invasion and peritoneal loco-regional. Blocking this interaction with heparin can provide a new therapeutic option.
