AbstractIntroduction: The use of active methodologies in the teaching-learning process is a differentiated pedagogical strategy that contributes to relevant and lasting learning. For the conduction of the groups, the mediator-teachers followed the proposal of the Scheme of the Arch of Charles Maguerez. Results: The adopted methodology allowed, from the observation of reality, to identify situations-problems related to the development of the extensionist action, which were listed and theorized, allowing the planning and selection of strategies to solve them. This allowed to broaden the knowledge of the subject worked on the extension and to favor the personal maturation, as well as to promote the development of competences for the professional pratice. This study was designed to examine the extent to which occupational therapists include the consumer and the environment in treatment planning. Twenty-nine registered occupational therapists who subscribe to the Mental Health Specialty Interest Section or the Physical Disabilities Specialty Interest Section completed treatment plans based on a single case study. The treatment plans were analyzed based on goal setting and treatment activities. Data indicated therapists frequently identified goals not addressed by the consumer and demonstrated limited consideration of the context in the selection of treatment activities. Therapists identified as many short-term goals not related to the consumer's stated goal as they identified goals that were related to the consumer's goal. T-test comparisons indicated that therapists significantly more often selected simulated over real activities and activities aimed at changing the person over activities aimed at changing the environment. These preliminary results from a small, self-selected sample suggest that current occupational therapy treatment planning is not consistent with consumer-oriented practice models.

This exploratory study used qualitative research methods to identify values that influence clinical reasoning in occupational therapy. Through an interview format, selected occupational therapists were asked to respond to a predetermined list of questions about a general case study. The interviews were tape-recorded and a content analysis of the tapes yielded 18 distinct value statements. Implications of the findings and recommendations for further studies are presented. Qualitative research methodology is examined for its utility in occupational therapy.

The author divides her time between St Loye's and the Langdon Hospital for the mentally handicapped at Dawlish. This article was written as a result of an attendance at a study day on the subject of mental handicap, held in London. The author met with a number of occupational therapists who were working single-handed or with only part-time support. She asked herself the following question: if, each year, hundreds of enthusiastic graduates flow out through the occupational therapy college gates, why do so many jostle for vacancies in the psychiatric or physical field and why do so few turn towards mental handicap? She investigated the subject, listening to a wide variety of suggestions put forward by numerous occupational therapists throughout the past year. She has included those which were a recurring theme.

The article elaborates on a thesis that development of new functions of the Human Resource Business Partner (HR BP) generates conflicts in three areas of operation of an enterprise: the structure, organizational culture, and goal attainment strategy. A commentary on the concept of the HR BP is provided and the functions propounded within its framework are discussed. Based on qualitative research on three large enterprises in Poland, the following strategies for the introduction of changes in the HR BP are the subject of analysis, that is: maintaining the status quo in power relations, expansion of influence over time, and the policy of small steps. It was concluded that an important factor affecting selection of a strategy is the organizational culture described from the perspective of the concept of Trompenaars and Hampden-Turner.
