The survey population was (1353) beneficiaries who attended the capacity building program, offered by five different organizations across the Kingdom. They were selected using the simple random sample (SRS) method. The study found a number of results, the most important of which was that the survey population believed that they benefited from the capacity building program in general. The study also showed statistically significant differences in the degree to which the trainees benefited from the capacity building program, according to the organization that offered the program. The study recommended several measures, the most important of which are: Non- profit organizations should develop programs that aim to develop and market the beneficiaries products and link them to e- commerce websites. Non- profit organizations should develop an electronic application to provide training, guidance and development programs in order to foster communication with beneficiaries to enable their capacity in a more impactful way.

AbstractThe past decade constitutes a significant turning point in the orientation of policy makers in the Israeli educational system. This period is characterized by comprehensive structural and pedagogical reforms intended for the promotion of the system’s achievements. ‘Pedagogical Flexibility’, a reform in the professional development of teaching staff implemented in 2015, constitutes a significant breakthrough in the perception of development and learning in Israel. The school principals play a main role in leading the reform and in the development of a new organizational culture in the staff as well. This led to the creation of focused learning frameworks for school principals who sought to improve their knowledge and skill in the leadership of the reform. The article presents the main points of the first pilot program implemented in the North District for the training of 20 school principals in the reform and the main findings from the evaluation of the program, data from a questionnaire, and a focus group. In addition, the article proposes a critical look at the program effectiveness and indicates further focuses for future learning. The article presents a view of the role of the school principal in the leadership of the professional development in Israel and reviews theoretical aspects that arise from the research regarding this issue.

The tradition of rewang in Javanese society denotes the preparation and production of meals, a custom performed primarily by women. As a cultural value, rewang reflects an ideal standard for the role of women. In this essay, an assessment of the role of women is deployed to explore the meaning of work and, at the same time, to surface an understanding of hospitality that is based on the tradition of rewang, in order to demonstrate social meaning and values from the rewang tradition. Within this tradition, the meaning of work begins necessarily with remembering just how important is each person’s role. For members of the Javanese community, participation according to the rewang tradition shows the importance of strengthening blood-relationship with others (termed silaturahmi in Bahasa Indonesia). It is this blood-relation that serves as core value within the rewang tradition, such that rewang becomes a model for being community within the social context of Indonesia. By employing a perspective of rewang, this essay thus attempts to demonstrate how hospitality can serve as a basis for the identity of presence concerning the Javanese community.

It is well reported in the literature that professional development activities have great potential to increase teachers competencies in different areas, resulting in greater learning opportunities for students. In Turkey, however, teachers participation in professional development activities is significantly lower compared to almost all developed countries. In this context, this study aims to explore the different teacher- and school-level factors associated with teachers participation in professional development activities in Turkey by using a nationally representative data set from the Teaching and Learning International Survey (TALIS) and employing a multi-level statistical analysis with Hierarchical Linear Modeling (HLM). Results of the study show that several teacher- and school-level factors are significantly associated with teachers level of participation in professional development activities in Turkey. Specifically, the significant role of school principals in teachers professional development is explored. It is therefore suggested that school principals should be educated on the importance of in-service professional development activities for teachers and their significant role in this matter.

It is assumed that microfinance through self-help groups is an accelerator of development and change. A self-help group is a voluntary association of 10 to 20 women from the disadvantaged section of the population who come together to save and avail credit from microfinance institutions and banks through a facilitating agency such as NGO. This paper reviews the scope and limitations of self-help groups in having an impact on the economic and social upliftment of its members by focussing on empirical research conducted in the state of Jharkhand and review of existing literature. Majority of the available literature focuses on the economic empowerment of women through microfinance intervention with a minuscule focus on social empowerment through identified social empowerment variables. This study points out that economic empowerment has not translated into desired social empowerment for the beneficiaries of this program. The social empowerment of the marginalized is still a mirage. This paper investigates the reason for the same and the role of communication in gender sensitization and stakeholder participation as communication is a facilitator of social change. It aims towards understanding the linkage of community participation and communication for empowerment and propose suggestions for the same.
