The study aimed to mainly identify the role of non- profit organizations in building the capacity of their beneficiaries. The study relied on the social survey approach and used the questionnaire as a tool to realize the purpose of the study. The survey population was (1353) beneficiaries who attended the capacity building program, offered by five different organizations across the Kingdom. They were selected using the simple random sample (SRS) method. The study found a number of results, the most important of which was that the survey population believed that they benefited from the capacity building program in general. The study also showed statistically significant differences in the degree to which the trainees benefited from the capacity building program, according to the organization that offered the program. The study recommended several measures, the most important of which are: Non- profit organizations should develop programs that aim to develop and market the beneficiaries products and link them to e- commerce websites. Non- profit organizations should develop an electronic application to provide training, guidance and development programs in order to foster communication with beneficiaries to enable their capacity in a more impactful way.

The extent of research into the determinants of foreign direct inflows to particular locations is expansive and diverse; however, little is known of the influence of country images as non-financial determinants on the inflow of foreign capital. In contributing to this body of knowledge, this article aims to explore the influence of tourism as a non-financial nation image determinant of foreign direct investment (FDI) in Zimbabwe. The relationship between tourism and the four distinct forms of FDI opportunities in Zimbabwe, market-, resource-, efficiency- and strategic-asset seeking is examined. Empirical data were generated from a final purposively sampled survey population of 305 foreign investors who had applied to invest in Zimbabwe between January 2009 and April 2015. Multiple statistical techniques were employed including exploratory factor analysis and multiple regression using STATISTICA 12 software. As it emerged, eight variables were identified as constituting Zimbabwe’s tourism nation brand image. Empirically, the results of this article affirm the influence of tourism as a non-financial determinant of market-, efficiency- and strategic asset-seeking FDI opportunities in Zimbabwe.

This study determined the administrative staff rating of the adequacy of accommodation in tertiary institutions in Yobe State. Two research questions guided the study and two null hypotheses were tested at 0.05 level of significance. The design of the study was descriptive survey. Population of the study was 1,032 administrative staff of federal and state tertiary institutions in the study area. A proportionate sampling was used to select a sample size of 310 administrative staff. A structured questionnaire containing 15 items validated by three experts was used for data collection. Cronbach alpha method was used to establish the internal consistency of the instrument. Correlation coefficients of 0.83 and 0.81 for two clusters (B1 and B2) with an overall coefficient of 0.82 were obtained. Two hundred and ninety eight duly completed copies of the instrument were retrieved and used for data analysis. Mean and standard deviation were used to answer the research questions and to determine the homogeneity of the respondents’ ratings while the t-test was used to test the hypotheses. Findings revealed that administrative staff of tertiary institutions in Yobe State rated office accommodation and conveniences in their offices lowly adequate. The findings also showed that ownership of tertiary institution was a significant factor on the mean ratings of administrative staff on the adequacy of accommodation while ownership of tertiary institution significantly did not influence their mean ratings on the adequacy of conveniences provided in their offices. Based on the findings, the researcher concluded that researcher concluded that there is need to improve the provision of office accommodation and conveniences in tertiary institutions in Yobe State, Nigeria. It was recommended among others that, administrators of tertiary institutions in Yobe State should collaborate more with private sectors in the areas of office accommodation and conveniences provision. This will encourage the private sectors to support the universities by providing some of these infrastructures to the institutions.

The European eel (Anquilla anquilla) has been declining throughout its area of distribution, is addressed in several pieces of legislation, and is the target of extensive restoration efforts. Therefore, investigating and conserving natural eel habitats is urgently needed. Large, near-natural rivers have become rare in Europe but the Balkans host some of the extant examples. However, several Balkan rivers–among them the transboundary river Vjosa/Aoos of Albania and Greece–are under threat from planned hydropower constructions. This study synthesizes European eel catch data from four institutions and the results of a recent electrofishing survey. Population density and structure as well as habitat choice were studied at different spatial scales. We calculated densities for each meso-habitat (0–1303 ind./ha) and extrapolated these values across three different hydromorphological channel sections (meandering: 70 ind./ha, braided: 131 ind./ha, constrained: 334 ind./ha), resulting in an overall mean density of 168 ind./ha. Proposed hydropower plants would cut off about 80% of the catchment currently accessible and impact river sections downstream of the dams by disturbing hydrological dynamics. By linking study results to relevant legislation and literature we provide evidence-based data for water management decisions. We call for the Vjosa/Aoos to be protected in order to secure its outstanding conservation value.

Abstract Background: Ophthalmology education is changing amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. The purpose of this study is to describe and evaluate the implementation of webinars combined with online resources for review for ophthalmology trainees. Methods: This is a single-center descriptive survey study. A validated survey tool was distributed 2 months after implementation of webinar education. The survey population comprised residents, fellows, and faculty in a Chicago ophthalmology training program. Results: Eighteen residents (100% response rate), 9 fellows (81.8% response rate) and 20 faculty members (44.4% response rate) responded to the survey. Barriers to webinar education and limitations to learning during webinars were rated as low in both groups (avg. 1.98 ± 2.04 and 2.16 ± 1.82, respectively). The educational value of the webinars was moderately well rated (avg. 7.35 ± 1.66). Interest in webinars replacing in-person lectures was neutral (avg. 5.45 ± 2.54). Faculty expressed fewer barriers (p = 0.005), and a higher preference to use webinar education frequently (p = 0.003) and instead of in-person lectures (p = 0.009), compared to trainees. Conclusions: The findings of this survey suggest that webinars in ophthalmology education are effective and feasible, with some perceived limitations.
