Teaching Practical Research in the Senior High School was a challenge but at the same time a room for exploration. This study investigated the key areas in the interconnected teaching strategies employed to grade 12 students of which are most and least helpful in coming up with a good research output and what suggestions can be given to improve areas that are least useful. It is qualitative in nature and used phenomenological design. Reflection worksheets and interview schedule were the main sources of data. Results reveal that students come up with a good research output because of the following key areas: ‘guidance from someone who is passionate with research’ as represented by their research critique, research teacher, resource speaker from the seminar conducted, and group mates; ‘guidance from something or activities conducted’ like the sample researches in the library visitation, worksheets answered, and the research defenses; and ‘teamwork’ among the members of the group. On the other hand, key areas which are least useful are: ‘clash of ideas and unequal effort’ among the members; ‘time consuming for some of the written works’; and ‘no review of related literature’ during the library hopping. Suggestions given where: to choose your own group mates of which each member should have the same field of interest, to remove worksheets not needed in the research paper; and to check online regarding availability of literature in the library. Further suggestions are to rearranged the sequence of the interconnected strategies which are as follows: grouping of students, having a research critique, seminar in conducting research, library visitation/work activity, proposal defense, final defense and the worksheet activities be given throughout the semester. Furthermore, there should be a culminating activity for students to share their outputs. Teaching research is a wholesome process. By then, the researcher recommends to organize a group orientation for the teacher-coaches/mentors on the creation of school research council or school mentoring committee for peer reviewing on the students research output. Further, student research presentation (oral, poster, gallery type, etc.), student research conference/colloquium, student research journal, etc. be organized to further nourish the culture of research in the part of the students, teachers and staffs involve.

With the introduction of the new college entrance examination evaluation system, great changes have taken place in the function, purpose and significance of the college entrance examination. In addition to evaluating students' learning achievements, it also undertakes the important function of educating people and morality, which also urges high school teachers to take educating people as the main teaching direction. As far as the ideological and political education in senior high school is concerned, there are many disadvantages in the traditional teaching mode, which leads to the students' low learning enthusiasm, and the inability to deeply understand the connotation of Ideological and political education, so that the discipline which should have the most educational function can not fully play its due role. Therefore, the ideological and political education in senior high school should make bold innovation, so as to quickly adapt to the new evaluation system. This paper makes an in-depth study on how to innovate the ideological and political education in Senior High School under the background of one core, four layers and four wings, and provides some specific measures.

A well-written abstract speaks for the paper’s quality—it reflects an article’s value. Research is a relatively new discipline for senior high school learners, thus, the writing of an abstract can be problematic and challenging. Anchored on Hyland’s model of research article abstracts as adapted by Behnam and Golpour (2014), this paper presents a move analysis of thirty (30) randomly-selected research abstracts of Grade 12 senior high school students in a Philippine University. The results revealed the three (3) dominant moves in the corpus of research abstracts namely Introduction-Purpose-Method-Product, Introduction-Purpose-Method-Product-Conclusion, and Introduction-Product-Method. It was also noted that the “Conclusion” move is less frequently observed and considered “optional”. Additionally, instances of move embedding were prominent between the Purpose and Method move. It was recommended that research instructors in the senior high school shall consider using models in teaching the writing of the abstract. The findings of this study may serve as a basis in crafting a genre-based research syllabus, with genre-based tasks.

In this article, the conceptions of variability held by samples of Japanese and Thai senior high school mathematics teachers were identified, based on the framework proposed by Shaughnessy (2007), using a comparative survey study. From contrasting the results of the two groups, relative tendencies of insufficient statistical knowledge for variability were found in both samples, such as a tendency of Japanese teachers to overgeneralize equiprobability, whereas Thai teachers tended to overgeneralize estimation. Based on these findings, the use of well-known tasks from the research literature for this comparative study seems useful to clarify the relative tendencies and insufficiencies in teacher knowledge and  conceptions regarding variability held by both groups. This study aimed to determine the level of Senior High School Teachers’ Research Competence and Satisfaction on Facilities and Resources and the relationship among these variables. It utilized the descriptive-correlational research design through survey method. The results of the findings revealed that most of the respondents were graduates of BSEd-English with master’s unit, rendered 0-5 years, had taught the Practical Research subject for two semesters, and attended the Mass Training for Applied subjects. Generally, Practical Research teachers are competent in terms of technical aspects, major parts of the research paper, other parts of research paper and other-research skills. They are Not Satisfied on the facilities and resources provided by the school. Teachers viewed that their profile have no impact to their research competence. There was no significant difference on the level of satisfaction on facilities and resources in terms of area of specialization, number of years in service, number of semesters in handling Research subjects and seminar-trainings attended. However, there is significant difference on the level of satisfaction on facilities and resources in terms of highest educational attainment. Finally, there was a correlation between the level of research competence and satisfaction on the facilities and resources. This research concludes that the teachers’ research competence is interrelated by their satisfaction level on the facilities and resources. However, this level of satisfaction can be attributed to their educational attainment. The higher the level of their educational attainment the more they will demand on the facilities and resources to be provided by the school. Recommendations were proposed to enhance teachers’ research competence.
