LoRa technology was developed over 10 years ago, with many communication protocols optimized for LoRaWAN. However, in the protocols, all data from the end devices are sent directly or forwarded through a gateway to the LoRaWAN server and processed centrally there. Accordingly, the gateway only acts as a forwarder. This mechanism increases the processing load on the server, increases latency, and is not suitable for applications with a large number of end devices or that require real-time applications. In this paper, we design and develop a new LoRa communication protocol that supports edge computing at the gateway. At the same time, the authors design and manufacture a Smart Multiplatform IoT Gateway (SMGW) and LoRa nodes that allow the implementation and evaluation of the proposed protocol in practice. The test results on a system of 50 LoRa nodes and the SMGW show that the proposed protocol works well when evaluating its performance in terms of reliability, latency, and power consumption. This proposed system is suitable for applications that require edge computing and is easily extendable to other IoT applications.

This study discusses a method to secure Message Queuing Telemetry Transport-Sensor network (MQTT-SN). MQTT-SN is a popular data communication protocol used in developing IoT applications and can be secured by augmenting it with a security scheme. In this work, several lightweight encryption schemes to be used in tandem with MQTT-SN were tested and analysed. The best algorithm is identified based on the speed of encryption and overall power consumption when implemented in IoT environment. It was found that L-BLOCK is the overall performer in securing MQTT-SN and should be highly considered when developing IoT applications.

Robot soccer is an effective platform which is used to validate techniques such as artificial intelligence. Due to the limitations of a single robot, complex tasks on pitch often need to be completed through coordination of multiple robots. The purpose of this paper is to realize the information transfer between robots and thus to achieve information sharing by designing the network communication system among robots, as well as to provide forceful support for robots' decision-making and multi-robots cooperation. Meanwhile, the ant colony algorithm, which comes after the realization of robot communication system, is introduced to solve the problem existed in multiple-robots coordination. Experimental results show that the communication system in this paper can effectively fulfill information transfer between robots and has laid a good foundation for cooperation of robots.

The VoIP communication system at OMNI Hospital Alam Sutera uses the Elastix 2.5 server with the Centos 5.11 operating system. Elastix 2.5 by the developer has been declared End of Life. The server security system is a serious concern considering that VoIP servers can be accessed from the internet. Iptables and fail2ban applications are applications that are used to limit and counteract those who try to attack the VoIP server. One application that can be used as an open source VoIP server is the Issabel Application version 4.0. The migration process from Elastix 2.5 application to Issabel 4.0 by backing up all configurations in the Elastix 2.5 application through a web browser including the configuration of endpoints, fax, e-mail, asterisk. After the backup file is downloaded then upload the backup file to the Issabel 4.0 application then run the migration process. Adding a backup path as a failover connection is needed because the VoIP communication protocol between the OMNI Hospitals Group still uses one path so that when there is a problem in the connection path, the communication protocol will stop. The tunnel EoIP is a protocol used as a backup path between the OMNI Hospitals Group site.

AbstractThe Internet of Things (IoT) applications and services are increasingly becoming a part of daily life; from smart homes to smart cities, industry, agriculture, it is penetrating practically in every domain. Data collected over the IoT applications, mostly through the sensors connected over the devices, and with the increasing demand, it is not possible to process all the data on the devices itself. The data collected by the device sensors are in vast amount and require high-speed computation and processing, which demand advanced resources. Various applications and services that are crucial require meeting multiple performance parameters like time-sensitivity and energy efficiency, computation offloading framework comes into play to meet these performance parameters and extreme computation requirements. Computation or data offloading tasks to nearby devices or the fog or cloud structure can aid in achieving the resource requirements of IoT applications. In this paper, the role of context or situation to perform the offloading is studied and drawn to a conclusion, that to meet the performance requirements of IoT enabled services, context-based offloading can play a crucial role. Some of the existing frameworks EMCO, MobiCOP-IoT, Autonomic Management Framework, CSOS, Fog Computing Framework, based on their novelty and optimum performance are taken for implementation analysis and compared with the MAUI, AnyRun Computing (ARC), AutoScaler, Edge computing and Context-Sensitive Model for Offloading System (CoSMOS) frameworks. Based on the study of drawn results and limitations of the existing frameworks, future directions under offloading scenarios are discussed.
