Considering the protein need for human nutrition, the use of protein-rich grains plays an important role in the production of pasta. The study used soy protein as one of the protein sources, which serves as an effective source of energy in the physical and mental activities of humans. In the form of nutritious juice from soybeans, a protein concentration of 4.67% was obtained, and the resulting soy juice, rich in proteins, was used as an unconventional raw material for the production of pasta. Concentrations and methods were identified that made it possible to achieve technological and economic efficiency.

Because, in sheep, histamine-induced increased lung vascular permeability is prevented by diphenhydramine, we tested the effects of diphenhydramine on the sheep lung vascular response to endotoxin. We infused E. coli endotoxin (0.40-1.00 micrograms/kg) with and without diphenhydramine (3.0 mg/kg bolus + 1.5 mg . kg-1 . h-1) in the same unanesthetized sheep while measuring pulmonary arterial (Ppa) and left atrial (Pla) pressures, lung lymph flow (Qlym) and lymph (L) and plasma (P) protein concentrations. Endotoxin caused pulmonary hypertension soon after infusion (base-line Ppa = 22 +/- 3 (SE) cmH2O; after endotoxin Ppa = 40 +/- 2; P less than 0.05, n = 6) and after several hours an increase in permeability reflected in high flow of protein-rich lymph (base-line; Qlym = 7.5 +/- 1.4 (SE) ml/h, L/P protein concentration = 0.60 +/- 0.02: after endotoxin; Qlym = 21.4 +/- 3.1, P less than 0.05; L/P = 0.66 +/- 0.03, P less than 0.05). In the presence of diphenhydramine, endotoxin caused identical pressure changes but Qlym was lower during the period of increased permeability (16.7 +/- 3.0 (SE) ml/h, P less than 0.05 compared to endotoxin alone) and L/P protein concentration was similar (0.68 +/- 0.04, P = NS). We conclude that endogenous histamine may be partly responsible for the increase in lung vascular permeability after endotoxemia, but that histamine probably is not the sole mediator of the permeability change.

There has been increasing interest in recent years in the use of agro-based raw materials for the production of bio-friendly and sustainable products. Plant-based proteins are among the popular materials being studied. In particular, cottonseed protein (a byproduct of cotton fiber production) is widely available and has useful properties. Although not as well-known as soy protein, cottonseed protein has been shown to be a potentially valuable raw material for numerous applications. In this review, the latest developments in isolation, composition and molecular weight, chemical and enzymatic modifications, and non-food applications are delineated. Among these applications, films and coatings, interfacial and emulsifying applications, adhesives, and bioplastics seem to attract the most attention. A particular effort has been made to cover the literature on these topics in the past 10 years.

Gypsum retarder is an important additive of building materials. Commercial gypsum retarders are mainly composed of four types: organic acids, phosphates, protein and composite retarder. Although the effects of organic acids and phosphates have better retarding performances, there is still obvious a shortcoming that the mechanical strength reduces largely with time going by. Protein based retarders prolong the setting time of hemihydrates with less strength loss and higher costs. The gypsum retarder from waste mycelium, a protein-rich raw material, solved the problem of the disposal of waste mycelium from anti-biotic plants, while producing high-quality retarder for gypsum, shows potential for future.

In this study, the goose meat was used as raw material and the formula of composite tender agent was optimized by Response Surface Methodology. Goose breast meat were soaked with exogenous protease of plants, phosphate and Ca2+ for 3 hours at 2 °C. The influence of different composite tender agent on the water-holding capacity was examined by statistical response surface methodology (RSM). The result showed that papain 6.16 U/g, compound phosphate 0.308 % and calcium chloride 0.133 % was helpful to increase the tenderization of goose breast. The results of our study would be used to improve the tenderness of goose meat and increase economic efficiency of goose industry.

With soy protein isolate (SPI) as the main raw material, and ethylene glycol (EG) and polyethylene glycol (PEG) as two additives, a number of SPI-based films were prepared through the solution casting method. Results show that the film flexibility is obviously improved after adding EG and the film tensile strength and elongation at break could reach more than 10.5 MPa and 140%, respectively. The antimicrobial results exhibit EG has higher antibacterial effect against both bacteria ofE. coliandS. aureusthan PEG-400.
