Usualmente, animações educacionais objetivam apresentar um conteúdo ou demonstrar um procedimento instrucional. Elas atuam como um recurso complementar ao livro didático, ilustrando o conteúdo. No entanto, a animação educacional pode ser usada não somente para apresentar o conteúdo, mas também para motivar e envolver o aprendiz no processo de aprendizagem. Neste contexto, as animações educacionais em seu processo de concepção podem incorporar elementos já consagrados na narrativa objetivando gerar motivação, bem como facilitar a aprendizagem e a memorização dos conteúdos. Mediante um levantamento teórico exploratório/descritivo acerca dos componentes e elementos da narrativa, este artigo propõe uma representação gráfica que facilita o processo de aplicação destes elementos e componentes na transposição do conteúdo educacional em uma narrativa.AbstractUsually, educational animations aim to present a content or demonstrate an instructional procedure. In a classroom environment, it has been used as a complementary resource to the didactic books. However, educational animation can be used beyond the function of portraying the content; it is possible to be use during the learning process to increase the learner’s motivation and engagement. In this context, educational animations can incorporate in their design process, elements that had already been established in the narrative studies focusing on motivation enhance learning and memorization of the educational content. Through an exploratory theoretical research about the narrative component elements, we propose a graphical representation that can facilitate the implementation process of these elements in the composition of educational animations.

The current generation is facing a number of challenges related to their future. The education system is looking for adequate ways to change and adaptively focus the learning process. The application of a competency approach in education has a positive effect. The article attempts to explain the essence of the competency approach and its projections in the preparation, education and upbringing of children and students. Basic elements that are leading in organizing the learning process are outlined. Concepts necessary for subsequent theoretical research and methodological formulations are defined.

PurposeThis paper aims to investigate the role of a particular energy calculator in enhancing the energy efficiency of existing homes by asking how this calculator was developed and how it is domesticated by craftspeople working as energy consultants.Design/methodology/approachThe study is based on qualitative interviews with users and producers of the energy calculator (n= 22), as well as participation in energy consultation training.FindingsThe paper finds that, in the energy calculator, there is a striking lack of connection between the domestication and script because of lack of energy consultants’ involvement in the design and implementation process.Practical implicationsThe enrolment of energy consultants as energy calculator users earlier in and throughout the design process could be valuable in making the transition to an energy-efficient and environmentally friendly building sector.Social implicationsThe paper argues for recognition of the role of energy consultants, especially craftspeople, as participants in the design process for tools of governance. This is a call to acknowledge the value of particular skills and experiences possessed by craftspeople doing home consultation.Originality/valueBy understanding the intricate developer–user synchronicity in tools developed for upgrading the building sector, energy mitigation can be made more effective.

The development of design activity uses technical suports that allow the architect to record the evolution of your idea or communication with it. Historically, the support that has been used is the graphical representation, which, as a intelligence technology, joins with the creative and cognitive processes of the individual, allowing communication with their imagination and also to all individuals involved in projecting. The representations graphically materialized, calls drawing,  are important in the practice of architecture because they represent the evolution of the design process. The drawing means the way in which design is conducted, tested, controlled and ultimately appears performed. In this context the drawings of the Renaissance architect Andrea Palladio play a special role in the history of architecture, because it makes clear how he understood and thought the architecture. At that time, the graphical representation of the space acquired an importance that had not previously, incorporating a greater number of alternative representation, highlighting the aesthetic concerns and the current building techniques. A lot of drawings produced by Palladio, shows how he was deeply convinced of eloquence and priority of images to understand the architecture, more than any other form of discursive explanation. In this sense, this work investigates the drawings of Palladio as a tool at the process of design solutions translation. The reading of the project through the design has been used to study designs and architectural objects or certain styles or specific authorship of an architect. Here the method is used for reading the project of Villa Pisani in Bagnolo (1542). Using two and three dimensional drawings, represented by plan, section and volumetry, it is intended to make explicit certain aspects underlying the architectural work, as questions of proportion and symmetry. It is expected that, at the work of Palladio, this method allows to compare and understand drawings, in order to analyze mutations and replications and  search of new meanings, readings and interpretations.

Museums and Science Centres are informal education environments that intend to engage the visitors with their exhibits. We present an efficient design process that allows an improved working relationship between museum practitioners, exhibition designers, and visitors. We present the principles and a graphical representation based on the Engagement Profile from previous work. Elements of the design process are evaluated using a learning game at the science centre Engineerium. The evaluation is based on a study with over five hundred visitors to the science centre.

BACKGROUND Consumer health care technology shows potential to improve outcomes for community-dwelling persons with chronic conditions, yet health app quality varies considerably. In partnership with patients and family caregivers, hospital clinicians developed Care4myHeart, a mobile health (mHealth) app for heart failure (HF) self-management. OBJECTIVE The aim of this paper was to report the outcomes of the nurse-led design process in the form of the features and functions of the developed app, Care4myHeart. METHODS Seven patients, four family caregivers, and seven multidisciplinary hospital clinicians collaborated in a design thinking process of innovation. The co-design process, involving interviews, design workshops, and prototype feedback sessions, incorporated the lived experience of stakeholders and evidence-based literature in a design that would be relevant and developed with rigor. RESULTS The home screen displays the priority HF self-management components with a reminder summary, general information on the condition, and a settings tab. The health management section allows patients to list health care team member’s contact details, schedule medical appointments, and store documents. The My Plan section contains nine important self-management components with a combination of information and advice pages, graphical representation of patient data, feedback, and more. The greatest strength of the co-design process to achieve the design outcomes was the involvement of local patients, family caregivers, and clinicians. Moreover, incorporating the literature, guidelines, and current practices into the design strengthened the relevance of the app to the health care context. However, the strength of context specificity is also a limitation to portability, and the final design is limited to the stakeholders involved in its development. CONCLUSIONS We recommend health app development teams strategically incorporate relevant stakeholders and literature to design mHealth solutions that are rigorously designed from a solid evidence base and are relevant to those who will use or recommend their use.

Gifted students can encounter anxiety-provoking stressors throughout their day. Developing effective anxiety management skills allows them to better navigate these challenges. Concepts from neuroscience help us better understand responses to anxiety and can assist gifted youth and those working with them in recognizing how and when to best apply anxiety management strategies. This article reviews these concepts and integrating them into the classroom environment to assist with this learning process. In addition, it examines an evidenced-based anxiety management intervention that has been found to be efficacious for gifted youth, Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT). Results of recent EFT research are reviewed and the steps to learning EFT are outlined.

Abstract This paper presents an approach for identifying team-roles. The proposed approach is based on the interpretation of a design process in terms of the behavior of the members of the team. Behavior is codified in terms of the team member’s process and physical activities. In this study a collaborative design process was recorded on video-tape and analyzed in detail. The process was decomposed into distinct sections called events. In every event each team member was assigned a team-role taking into consideration the activity of the team member, i.e. what the team member does, how activity of the team member, i.e. what the team member does, how the team member does it, and the context of the event. A graphical representation of the results called ‘role-profile’ was developed making it possible to clearly identify a basic team-role for every subject in the observed design process.

This chapter discusses the immersive learning process and the usage of AR into a simulated or in an artificial environment. Discussed is the background information on how the AR use in educational industries and the design process of AR immersive learning environment. The chapter also evaluates the benefits if immersive learning and AR.
