The relevance of the article is primarily due to the recently increased interest among researchers not only in the cognitive, but also in the emotional and personal sphere of personality. So, many scientists (such as Jan Plamper, O. Simonova, I. Trotsuk, etc.) note the turn of science towards emotions (the so-called "affective" or "emotional" turn), which indicates the importance of studying and developing the emotional and personal sphere of a person. At the same time, data from some studies indicate an increase in the severity of alexthymia, in particular, among students. Therefore, the authors of the article see the relevance of the study of the phenomenon of alexithymia in students of different fields of training in order to study and establish links between the propensity to alexithymia and personality traits, as well as a number of personal characteristics that determine the choice of a future profession. In accordance with these provisions, the authors have developed a program of empirical research of the level of alexithymia expression and personality traits on the example of students of humanities and technical fields of study. Therefore, hypotheses are formulated, tasks and methods (including quantitative and qualitative data processing) are selected; the results and practical recommendations that are reflected in the publication of this work are analyzed and described. The article is intended for employees of the higher education system, teachers of higher educational institutions, students and their parents; specialists working in the field of psychological counseling and psychotherapy, as well as for a wide range of people interested in psychology.

This study aims to analyse students’ enrollment in social work courses in Indian higher educational institutions. The higher education system in India is one of the world's largest systems of its kind. There are 526 social work educational institutions and 181 Universities (20 per cent) imparting social work education and training at different levels. The data from the reports of All India Survey on Higher Education for the period of 2010-11 to 2018-19 was analysed. More than half (59.12 per cent) of the institutions are teaching undergraduate courses in social work (BSW), and more than 95 per cent are teaching postgraduate courses (MSW). Male students outnumbered female students in both courses. The share of students enrolled through distance mode of education in BSW and MSW programmes is 22 per cent and 34.09 per cent, respectively. Student enrollment at the M. Phil level has witnessed a sudden decline, but there has been a consistent increase in the Ph.D. programme. India has added around 0.36 million BSWs/MSWs in the past eight years, averaging forty-five thousand professional social workers per annum. The changes in the socio-political environment, human relationships and social space, technology, and globalisation processes and global agenda will decide the future of social work in India.

The higher education system of Russia, in comparison with its closest neighbors, demonstrates a high level of moral and technical backwardness of the educational process. In Russia, higher education institutions use outdated methods of implementing educational activities. The effectiveness of the development of modern society is ensured by the presence of high intellectual potential. That is why a lot of attention should be paid to the system of educational institutions, namely higher educational institutions. Higher educational institutions solve important issues of professional training of specialists, provide society with intellectual resources. The intellectualization of life, including economic life, determines the need for the development of education. Education provides those working in the economy with information, knowledge, skills, and intellectual capital, so the efficiency of higher education institutions is extremely important and impossible without a sufficient level of financial support.

Well-trained specialists will be able to find a job and employment. In the labor market in the field of art and culture, there is creative competition. Therefore, the training of bachelors at the higher educational institutions should be guided by the requirements of the labor market in this area, and the higher educational institutions should produce competitive specialists in creative professions. In the higher education system of modern Russia, the issue of improving the quality of teaching of special (major) disciplines, as well as all subjects included in the training program, is on the agenda of the department collectives. The program trajectory, which is set through the Federal State Educational Standards, is associated with a certain experiment in modeling competencies based on accepted professional standards. An important component is the position of the higher educational institution and the right to develop competencies based on the experience, profile of the university and the composition of the teaching staff. Civic identity is one of the most integrating systems, reflecting a wide range of different spheres of society's life, through which self-determination of the individual as a citizen of his country is carried out. The purpose of this work is to identify and compare the features of the civic identity of students of medical, humanitarian and technical higher educational institutions in the city of Saratov. The article is the first to consider the problem of the formation of civic identity of students of various universities from the standpoint of the analysis of cognitive, emotional and behavioral components. An experimental statistical study was carried out, in which 57 students took part. Based on the data obtained, the prevailing social value orientations of students of a humanitarian university, social-role value orientations of students of a medical university, as well as hedonistic value orientations of students of a technical university were revealed. The results of the study indicate that the constituent components of civic identity among students of a technical university are formed at a significantly lower level in comparison with students of other universities. The highest level of communicative potential is observed among students of a humanitarian university, and the lowest — among students of a technical university. The lowest level of behavioral regulation was formed among students of a technical university. Reduce the level of civic identity, namely its behavioral and emotional components, social introversion and psychasthenia; in addition, the behavioral component decreases due to an increase in the severity of depressive personality traits. The formation of the cognitive component of civic identity among students of humanitarian, medical and technical universities is associated with an adequate perception of reality.
