We survey the determinants of earnings and propose a framework for understanding labor market success. We suggest that the advantages of the children of successful parents go considerably beyond the benefits of superior education, the inheritance of wealth, or the genetic inheritance of cognitive ability. We suggest that noncognitive personality variables, such as attitudes towards risk, ability to adapt to new economic conditions, hard work, and the rate of time preference affect both earning and the transmission of economic status across generations.

Os estudos acerca do desenvolvimento humano na idade adulta e no envelhecimento têm instigado o interesse de teóricos do assunto, em virtude do aumento do tempo de vida da população. Constata-se, no campo educacional, entre os anos de 1996 e 2003, um crescimento do número de pessoas que ingressaram na universidade na meia-idade. Com base no interesse em dar continuidade ao estudo sobre a entrada na universidade, o presente artigo tem como objetivo discutir a qualidade de vida de estudantes que ingressam na universidade após os 45 anos de idade; para tanto, foram revisados os estudos de Baltes (1970, 1977, 1990, 1995, 1997, 1999) e Neri (1985, 1991, 1993, 1995, 2002). A metodologia utilizada foi ancorada na abordagem qualitativa. Os resultados revelam que os respondentes antes de ingressarem no ensino superior vivenciaram um período de estabilidade e que, após selecionarem suas metas e otimizarem suas capacidades de reserva, apresentaram melhorias na qualidade de vida. Conclui-se, com base nos argumentos relatados pelos estudantes, que o desenvolvimento deve ser visto sob vários prismas – biológicos, psicológicos, sociais – e num processo de interação. Abstract The studies concerning human development in the adult age and aging have instigated the interest of theoreticians, in virtue of the increase of life expectancy of the population. It is evidenced, in the educational field, between 1996 and 2003, a growth of the number of people who had entered the university in middle age. On the basis of the interest in continuing the study on university entrance, the present article aims at arguing the quality of life of students who entered the university after the age of 45; therefore, the studies of Baltes (1970, 1977, 1990, 1995, 1997, 1999) and Neri (1985, 1991, 1993, 1995, 2002) were revised. The used methodology was anchored in the qualitative approach. The results reveal that, before entering superior education, the respondents had deeply lived a period of stability and that, after selecting their goals and optimizing their capacities of reserve, had presented improvements in their life quality. One concluded, on the basis of the students’ arguments, that the development must be seen under some conditions biological, psychological, social and in a process of interaction. Este artículo presenta el tema de la transversalidad, exponiendo la importancia que conlleva su incorporación en la formación académica que ofrecen las universidades, siendo una  temática que aún presenta interrogantes más en su parte práctica desde el qué y el cómo.  Desde la experiencia académica del diseño curricular y la docencia, se visualiza en el accionar de las instituciones educativas, la dificultad del manejo de esta herramienta pedagógica en la gestión que realizan diversas instituciones, para poder integrarla como proyecto y cultura institucional. La exposición de la temática, pretende, enmarcar la necesidad de ser un tema prioritario en las mesas de discusión académica, ya que solo así se podrá llegar a propuestas del adecuado manejo e incorporación de los ejes transversales desde lo que compete al accionar institucional.Palabras clave: transversalidad, ejes transversales, educación, currículo, gestión institucional.AbstractThis document refers to transversality, showing its relevance when introduced in formal education in colleges.  This subject still has plenty of unanswered questions on its how to, side of implementation. From the Academic Experience’s point of view while teaching and throughout curricular design, it is envisioned to work properly on all educational institutions; though this pedagogical tool is hard to implement in the daily functions of the learning centers as part of its curriculum and institutional culture. The need to combine social constructivist activities with cognitive constructivist ones has emerged which incorporates personalized learning approaches. Characteristics of education and educational institutions of the third millennium indicate that flexibility, inclusiveness, collaboration, authenticity, relevance and extended institutional boundaries are the leading features of superior education. While educational goals have changed and expanded to incorporate lifelong learning, global interaction, the attainment of meta-cognitive knowledge and abilities, so did the role of both students and teachers (Felix, 2005). This study is about various techniques used in curriculum development, teaching and assessment, one of which is the negotiated curricula. How to integrate this phenomenon of the learning and teaching literature into curriculum and its influence on students’ active learning is presented.

O trabalho teve por objetivo analisar a percepção dos coordenadores de Cursos de Graduação em Nutrição sobre o Exame Nacional de Desempenho do Estudante – ENADE/2004, por meio de um questionário contendo onze questões, sendo dez objetivas e uma subjetiva, abrangendo os diversos contextos do exame. A avaliação foi positiva quanto ao questionário socioeconômico, seleção, qualidade e abrangência das questões dos componentes de formação geral e específica, e negativa, por induzir a uma classificação hierárquica dos cursos, ao invés de avaliar o desempenho dos estudantes. Estes resultados podem servir para o aprimoramento dos próximos exames, e contribuir para o aperfeiçoamento dos projetos pedagógicos do Curso de Nutrição e melhoria do ensino superior na área. Abstract The objective of this study was to analyze the perception of the coordinators of Graduation Courses in Nutrition about Brazilian National Examination of Student Performance – ENADE/2004 by using a questionnaire contained eleven questions, being ten objectives and a subjective one, enclosing the diverse contexts of the exam. The ENADE had positive evaluation to the purpose of the social and economic questionnaire; questions selection, quality and comprehensiveness of the questions of general and specific components. According to the coordinators perceptions, the negative aspect of the exam was the probably manner of inducing to a hierarchic classification of the courses, instead of evaluating the student’s performance. These analyses could be proposals for the next examinations, as well as to contribute for the improvement of the pedagogic projects of Nutrition Courses and to approaching the superior education in this area. <p>Japan as a developed country is certainly born from a superior education pattern so that it can outperform other countries. The "kyoiku mama" education pattern used by Japanese people has a major impact on the progress of the Japanese State. Mother as a child educator leads Japan to advances in science and technology. Not only Japan, Islamic education is also a mother as an early educator for Muslim children. This research is discussed using the literature study method that uses a variety of references in achieving the objectives of this study. The purpose of this study was to find a common thread between the "kyoiku mama" education pattern and the Islamic education pattern. Introducción: La violencia contra la mujer es un problema que atenta contra la igualdad, el desarrollo y la paz social. Situación que se reconoce como factor asociado al deterioro en la calidad de vida de los individuos en la medida que se constituye en violación de los Derechos Humanos. Objetivo: Describir el grado de acuerdo o desacuerdo entre las creencias sexistas y las que conducen a la violencia en estudiantes del área de la salud de una Institución de Educación Superior de Cartagena. Materiales y métodos: Estudio descriptivo, transversal, la muestra calculada fue de 509 estudiantes, seleccionados mediante muestreo por conveniencia, se utilizó el cuestionario de Actitudes hacia el Género y la Violencia (C.A.G.V), el cuestionario se dividió en dos secciones, la primera, aborda datos sociodemográficos, la segunda, las creencias sexistas y violencia. Resultados: El factor con mayor desacuerdo y/o rechazo a las creencias sexistas es el factor 1 con un 79% de participantes en desacuerdo, los factores 2, 3 y 4 tiene presentan un alto porcentaje de desacuerdo y actitud indiferente en hombres y mujeres ante las creencias evaluadas. Conclusión: Se concluye que existen comportamientos que promueven la violencia, en este estudio se evidenció dominación, aislamiento y conductas que suelen pasar inadvertidas, es así como la violencia contra las mujeres ejercidas por sus parejas o ex parejas abre campos a importantes problemas de salud, problemas que han demostrado un desequilibrio del bienestar psicosocial a corto y/o a largo plazo. Situation that is acknowledged as a factor associated with the deterioration in the quality of life of the individuals as it is constituted a violation of human rights. Target: To describe the degree of agreement and disagreement between the sexist beliefs and those that lead students in the health area of superior education institution of Cartagena. Materials and methods: Descriptive study, cross-sectional the calculated sample was of 509 students, selected through convenience sampling, the questionnaire of attitudes towards gender and violence was used. (C.A.G.V), the questionnaire was divided in two sections, the first one, deals with social demographics the second, sexist beliefs and violance.Results: The factor with the most disagreement and rejected to sexist beliefs it is factor 1 with 79% of participants in disagreement, the factors 2,3,4 a high percentage is shown of disagreement and indifference in men and women to the evaluated beliefs. Conclusion: It is concluded that exists behaviors that promote violence, and this study was evidenced domination, isolation and conducts that pass unnotified, this is how violence against women done by the partner or ex-partner opens fields to important health issues; problems that have shown an unbalanced and well-being psychosocial in long and short term.
