Descritores: Aleitamento Materno; Autoeficácia; Tecnologia Educacional; Educação em Saúde; Promoção da Saúde; Período Pós-Parto.ABSTRACTObjective: to describe the experience of the preparation and use of educational technology as a way to promote breastfeeding self-efficacy in the postpartum period. Method: this is an experience report-type descriptive study based on the development of educational technology, in which the following stages were carried out: students’ training; bibliographic research on the topic; and preparation and use of educational technology with puerperal women in the immediate postpartum period. Results: a favorable environment for the empowerment of puerperal women was provided through educational technology. We used the folder “Every woman is capable of breastfeeding!”, which favored interactivity, knowledge, and debate about breastfeeding self-efficacy, creating a proper environment for dialoguing about factors that may negatively affect breastfeeding during the postpartum period. Conclusion: we observed that the educational technology favored the sharing of knowledge with the puerperal women and their caregivers, contributing significantly to maternal empowerment in breastfeeding. In Slovenia, the role of general practitioners in counselling physical activity for prevention of cardiovascular disease (CVD) is well recognized. The role of general practitioners in advising healthy lifestyle for individuals who are at risk of developing CVD is formally defined in the National Program for Primary Prevention of Cardiovascular Disease, which has been running since 2001. Part of the program is counselling on healthy lifestyle including physical activity, performed in all health centres across the country. First a screening and medical examination is performed. In case of higher risk for CVD (>20%) the physician should give advice on the particular risk factor and direct patients to health-education centres, where they can participate in healthy lifestyle workshops lead by health professionals. Physicians and other health professionals who are involved in the implementation of prevention activities within the program need knowledge and skills that are crucial for successful counselling on healthy lifestyle. The educational program “basic education in health promotion and prevention of chronic non-communicable diseases in primary health care/family medicine” consists of two parts. The first part of the training is open to all health professionals working within the program. The second part is intended for health professionals working in health-education workshops. In the last few years a new family practice model has been introduced and disseminated. Some duties of the family physician, including health promotion and counselling, are being transferred to graduate nurses who become part of the family practice team. This new division of work undoubtedly brings many advantages, both in terms of the work organization, and of high-quality patient care. Nevertheless preventive action cannot be fully passed on to graduate nurses. Careful planning and education are needed to ensure a comprehensive approach in healthy life style counselling.

Children of mothers affected by gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) are at higher risk of long-term cardio-metabolic diseases. We explore the diet and physical activity knowledge and practices of Australian-born and overseas-born mothers with GDM history, for their three- to four-year-old children following antenatal health promotion education at a tertiary hospital. We conducted face-to-face, semi-structured interviews with 8 Australian-born and 15 overseas-born mothers with a history of GDM. Findings indicated that mothers of both groups were unaware of the increased health risks of their GDM for their children and could not recall receiving specific dietary or physical activity advice aimed at future child health. Their understanding of the diet and physical activity recommendations was inconsistent. Mothers of both groups expressed concern about the lack of reiteration of child health promotion messages following childbirth, particularly at postnatal follow-up visits. Diet and physical activity of the children of overseas-born mothers were adversely affected by inadequate maternal understanding of the recommendations due to language barriers, and child weight, healthy eating, and physical activity patterns derived from their home countries. We recommend enhanced health education for women with GDM on the future child health risks and their reduction by healthy lifestyle choices. This needs to be culturally relevant and reiterated after pregnancy.

Introduction: Regular physical activity is considered as the first priority in healthy lifestyle. Due to the importance and role of mobility and physical activity in women's lives, the main goal of this research was to design a model for attracting females to fitness clubs by  emphasizing on the health promotion behaviors.  Methods: In this research, a combination of qualitative and quantitative methods was applied. The statistical population included all female clients of fitness clubs, who exercised in these centers for more than six previous months in Yazd. For sampling, a combination of cluster and relative methods was used. The research data were analyzed using the structural equation model through the Amos software version 23. Results: Based on the findings of the exploratory factor analysis, three effective factors of environmental (design, facilities, and health), social (administrators, family), and services (planning, advertising, cost) were identified in attracting female clients to the fitness clubs in Yazd province. The results of the model's fitness indices showed a good fitness for the proposed model. Conclusion: The findings suggest the physical fitness clubs to have more effective plans. The club managers are recommended to consider expectations of their clients, especially women and mothers to  attract more customers to their clubs.

Abstract BACKGROUND: After-school care programs have garnered interest in recent years as the hours of 3:00–6:00p.m. are an opportune time for children to engage in healthy behaviours, specifically healthy eating and physical activity. Care providers are major influencers within the after-school care setting, impacting health promoting opportunities for children. However, little is known regarding the role care providers play in health promotion interventions in the after-school care setting, specifically those using comprehensive approaches. The purpose of this research was to explore care providers’ role and experience promoting healthy eating and physical activity through the after-school care health promotion intervention School’s Out…Let’s Move (SOLMo). SOLMo was guided by the evidence-based comprehensive school health framework.SOLMo had two main goals: (1) to serve a healthy snack with vegetable or fruit, and milk or water as the drink; (2) to include 30 minutes of moderate to vigorous physical activity. The intervention included resources and coaching for care providers to promote healthy eating and physical activity for children and took place in four after-school sites over a six-month period. Three of four sites were located in a school. The primary researcher was engaged with the sites over 22-months. METHODS: This research was guided by the qualitative method focused ethnography. Semi-structured interviews with care providers (n=13) taking part in SOLMo were conducted. Participant observation was included as part of data generation to further understand care provider roles. Latent content analysis was utilized iteratively and concurrently throughout data generation. RESULTS: Overall, care providers were supportive of promoting health behaviours in the after-school setting. Through analysis, five themes and eight subthemes emerged related to care providers’ role and experience promoting healthy eating and physical activity through SOLMo: 1) enhanced awareness; 2) improved programming; 3) strong relationships; 4) collaborative approach; and 5) role tension. CONCLUSIONS: As major influencers, care providers play a crucial role in promoting healthy lifestyle behaviours for children. This research provides valuable insight into this role and the implementation of comprehensive health promotion approaches in the after-school setting. Findings contribute to the implementation knowledge base and help inform the promotion of healthy lifestyle behaviours for children.
