It is obvious that English has become a popular language in many countries in the world. As a means of communication, English guarantees better mutual understanding and has become indispensable for most of people around the world. Thus, it is necessary to find out an appropriate and effective methods of giving feedback to help university students improve their English writing skills. The result of this study indicates that using indirect coded feedback in error correction help students make noticeable progress. The students’ positive attitude towards teacher’s feedback (indirect coded feedback) means that they enjoyed using error codes to find and correct their errors. Moreover, their confidence was boosted because error codes motivated them.

Introverted student is a type of student who has a personality related to the world in his own mind. Based on some researches results, they showed that the type of introverted students is getting lower in achievement compared to the extroverted type. For this reason, the researchers tried to apply the techniques in order to improve the introverted students’ achievement in learning English. The researchers focused on the writing skill. So, the writing techniques, namely Mind Mapping and Flow Charting are used in this research to improve their writing skill. This study was aimed to know the effectiveness of using Mind Mapping in teaching English writing skill of introverted Students, to know the effectiveness of using Flow Charting in teaching English writing skill of introverted Students, and to determine the better technique between Mind Mapping and Flow Charting in teaching English Writing Skill of Introverted Students.  The research technique used was descriptive comparative with a quantitative approach. The results of this study indicated that both techniques are equally effective. The results of the average writing test for the use of Mind Mapping techniques is 56.5, while for the use of Flow Charting techniques is 49.6. From the results of the average score, it can be concluded that flow charting techniques are more effectively used to improve the students writing skills with introverted types.

For many university students writing is a struggle and this may be more pronounced for students studying the sciences and technology. They may not foresee the need for good writing skills for their future employability. This case study discusses and critically analyses progress so far with integrating the writing process into the wider employability skills framework devised by the School of Science and Technology (S&T) at Middlesex University. It discusses areas of the thinking and writing process and highlights issues that have come to the forefront as a result.

Attitude towards English as a foreign language is a new field of study in tertiary education in Latin-American countries, especially in Chile. However, its importance in the process of learning a language has been reported upon around the world. The aim of the current study was to identify the attitudes towards English as a foreign language of 131 university students from different educational institutions in Chile; the students’ programs included English courses as part of their study plan. The three components of attitude were analyzed by means of the participants’ replies to the statements of a questionnaire. Results gave evidence that university students hold a positive attitude towards English as a foreign language; nonetheless, the behavioral aspect of attitude obtained the lowest average of agreement among the respondents.

The aims of this study is to find out the teacher’s understanding of the application of learning to writing in Islamic Primary School Jerapah Kecil, East Jakarta. Using ethnographic methods (Spradley model), this qualitative study was conducted in March-July 2013. The results of this study indicate that the teaching of writing in Islamic Primary School Jerapah Kecil has a unique in the learning objective. The students are expected to have writing skills through contextual writing practice and to enjoy writing. Through various writing activities the teacher builds positive attitude on the students. Beside the communicative and the whole language approaches, the teaching also implements student-centered approach. The students’ writing skills are developed through several kinds of writing activities at school and out of school. The students’ writing performance is asseesed not only based on their product but also writing process. Then assessment covers cognitive and affective aspects. Using a variety of learning resources in writing, such as museum, can develop the students’ positive attitudes. The paper provides the framework for embracing multiculturalism as a source of national identity, a political ‘profession de foi’, and an engine for a government to gain positive outcomes, leading to better immigrant integration and economic advantages for any country in the world. Noteworthy, Canadian federal policy of multiculturalism, since its official adoption in 1971, is witnessed to work stunningly and in contrast to developments elsewhere – in Canada, public support for multiculturalism is seeing unprecedented growth. Currently, the diversity of the Canadian populace is increasing faster than at any time in its history; Canada’s ethnic makeup has notably altered over the time due to changing immigration patterns. According to the latest poll findings, 84% of Canadians agree with the statement that ‘Canada’s multicultural makeup is one of the best things about this country’; 61% of Canadians believe multiculturalism ‘strengthens national identity’. Moreover, released data from Environics reveals that 27% of Canadians believe ‘multiculturalism is the one characteristic about Canada that most deserves to be celebrated on its upcoming 150thanniversary. Undeniably, people around the world tend to view Canada as “good”. Importantly, the election of Justin Trudeau is viewed as an excellent opportunity to invigorate brand Canada. Noteworthy, brand Justin Trudeau is currently composed of his belief in and promotion of the values of tolerance, equality and diversity. While recognizing the value for society of the human dignity inherent in each individual, Trudeau’s government aims to push beyond mere tolerance to mutual understanding and respect.
