ABSTRACT The whole coagulum (Cog) and its toluene-soluble fraction [toluene extract (TE)] obtained via the coagulation of the latex of Euphorbia caducifolia Haines was used as a green, multifunctional additive in a filled NR compound. The actions of Cog and TE were compared with two commercial resins, non-heat-reactive octyl phenol-formaldehyde (PF) and coumarone-indene (CI), at equal doses and also with conventional aromatic oil (through replacement). Both Cog and TE exhibited comparable tack strength with CI, but lower tack strength with PF. In addition, TE improved the cure rate index, unlike Cog and the commercial resins. When the aromatic oil was replaced with TE and Cog at different levels, we observed that TE could replace 100% of the original oil content, whereas Cog could only replace 33% of the original oil content from the recipe without deterioration of physico-mechanical properties. Both forms of natural resins decreased the intrinsic elasticity of the compounds and improved the aging resistance of the vulcanizates.

ABSTRACT A natural waste (gum) of the drumstick tree, Moringa oleifera, was used for the first time as a sustainable multifunctional additive in an SBR compound. Improved cure rate with lower optimum cure time was obtained by using the gum as an accelerator activator. Tack strength of the M. oleifera gum–SBR compound was superior to both the control and the compound containing commercial phenol–formaldehyde resin at 5 parts per hundred of rubber loading. At different loadings, the gum acted as a plasticizer for the rubber and augmented processing by reducing the viscosity of the compound. The glass transition temperature of the compounds decreased by 2 °C compared with the pristine SBR. Moringa oleifera gum at any loading reduced the die swell of SBR. This study has relevance because the rubber industry is looking for feasible sustainable additives as alternatives to existing petroleum-based compounding ingredients.

Ether extraction removes 80% of the floating fraction of egg yolk from its solution in 2.5% sodium chloride. On removal of the ether and dialysis against specific solvents two thirds of the remaining lipoprotein (40% lipid) precipitates, leaving a soluble fraction containing 50% lipid. The soluble and insoluble portions probably represent different levels of degradation rather than different lipoproteins since both materials are apparently derived by ether extraction from a natural entity of much higher lipid content. The soluble fraction is heterogeneous and has mean molecular weights of M w = 5.4 × 105by light-scattering methods, and M n = 3.4 × 105by osmotic pressure. A "light" fraction obtained by centrifuging and representing 38% of the soluble material had M w = 3.4 to 3.5 × 105. Heterogeneity in lipid content appears to be responsible for the low molecular weight (M w = 2.4 × 105) obtained by sedimentation.

A field experiment was conducted to find out the effect to different levels of nitrogen and phosphorus on yield, oil contents and quality and nutrient uptake of soybean. The maximum plant height and number of pod per plant were recorded by the application of 40kg N / ha. Single application of phosphorus also bring significant increased in oil content of soybean. Nitrogen, phosphorus, potash content of soybean seed and straw varied with different treatment of NP. Interaction showed oil content of soybean was influenced with increasing level of nitrogen and phosphorus. The percent of oil and yield of soybean were found maximized by the application of 40kg N / ha + 30kg P2O5 / ha. However, moisture, density, refractive index and peroxide value of soybean oil remain more or less same throughout the experiment.
