Pedagogical practice preparing future teachers is, undoubtedly, one of the most important elements of university studies. However, up to now pedagogical practice remains a very problematic sphere. Pedagogical activity, on the whole, is complicated, diverse and manifold. After all, it is an activity requiring creativity, high intellect and good psychological preparation. A student doing pedagogical practice, inevitably encounters various hardships -both specialty/professional and psychological. During the practice many different kinds of pedagogical situations are revealed. Various scientific research studies, carried out in the last few years, show the common situation – students-practitioners lack psychological preparation in communication with students, adjusting to a new environment, understanding them and so on. Actually, pedagogical practice theoretical and practical questions were discussed in the international scientific conference which took place between 1- 5 July, 2013 in Yerevan (Armenia). The conference under the theme „Modernization of Continuous Practice and Implementation of Organizational Mechanisms in the Higher Pedagogical Education System“ was organised by Armenian State Pedagogical University named after Khachatur Abovyan.

Ignazio Silone, one of the last “maestri” of the Italian literature, the intellectual who never betrayed his conscience, will be analysed in our scientific research concerning his francescanism and how the “Poverello di Assisi” along with Francis’s evangelic faith have influenced the tormented Italian writer. An old friend of the protagonist named Pierto Spina writes at Silone’s novel Vino e pane: “creare un regime all’ immagine dell’ uomo”, isn’t this, what Francis had proclaimed in his entire life, combating the human limits in order to reach his “Precious Goal”? Everyone has a goal in life and Silone achieved his through pure religious and political faith maintaining a high level of dignity throughout.

Thomas Laby, Professor of Natural Philosophy at the University of Melbourne 1915–1942, was an outspoken proponent of science broadcasting during the years when broadcast radio was developing in Australia. While earlier biographical studies have paid some attention to Laby's role in public affairs, there has been no discussion of his sustained advocacy for radio as a means of public education. This article shows how his position was supported by, and in turn enriched, his imperial politics as well as his commitment to scientific research; it draws on a range of archival materials from public hearings, the Australian Broadcasting Commission, and Australian universities. It shows Laby's remarkable grasp of a medium in its formative years, as well as his belief in the need for scientists to participate in social debate.

December 16, 2018 marked the 100th anniversary of the formation of the Reference Bureau within the Library of the State Rumyantsev Museum. This date is quite rightly considered the birthday of the specialized bibliographic service of the Russian State Library (RSL). Practically from the first years, the specialized bibliographic division of the Library was considered as a complex unit integrating bibliographic service and compiling activity with the considerable elements of scientific-methodical, organizational-coordinating and even scientific-research work in the field of bibliography. Despite the repeated internal restructuring and renaming of division, this approach has continued for many decades. In 1926, the Reference Bureau joined the “super complex” of Scientific-bibliographic Department, which became the basis for more specialized bibliographic divisions, created there beginning with mid-1940s. Over the following years, the bibliographic service of the RSL has undergone numerous structural transformations (mergers and demergers) and has repeatedly changed its name. Analyzing the historical experience, we can distinguish three cross-cutting directions of bibliographic activities of the Library, conventionally designated as reference-, scientific- and recommendatory-bibliographic. To the 100th anniversary the Scientific Research Department of Bibliography of the RSL prepared the Retrospective Index “Bibliographic activities of the Russian State Library (1918—2018)”, reflecting the literature on bibliographic activities of the RSL and its publications on the problems of bibliographic science and practice.

In article some aspects of educational policy of Russia are analyzed. It is shown that the system of public administration existing in Russia educational process and scientific research became outdated and doesn’t meet modern challenges and requirements. It doesn’t allow to undertake reform of the educational sphere and to provide innovative development of science and education in society. On the example of training for a engineering industry, it is shown that for achievement of the planned purposes according to a present political policy, it is necessary to pass to other model of impact to educational system in Russia – to state regulation of development of education and scientific research in the field of geophysics, engineering seismology and earthquake engineering.

It has been one hundred years since the birth of the outstanding scientist Professor V.A. Troitskaya. Her remarkable achievements in solar-terrestrial physics are widely known. For many years, Valeria A. Troitskaya was the President of the International Association of Geomagnetism and Aeronomy. This article deals with only one aspect of the multifaceted creative activity of V.A. Troitskaya. It relates to the problem of sources of ultra-low frequency (ULF) electromagnetic oscillations and waves outside Earth’s magnetosphere. We were fortunate to work under the leadership of V.A. Troitskaya on this problem. In this paper, we briefly describe the history from the emergence of the idea of the extramagnetospheric origin of dayside permanent ULF oscillations in the late 1960s to the modern quest made by ground and satellite means for ULF waves excited by solar surface oscillations propagating in the interplanetary medium and reaching Earth.
