Increased calls for rigor in special education have often revolved around the use of experimental research design. However, the replicability of research results is also a central tenet to the scientific research process. To assess the prevalence, success rate, and authorship history of replications in special education, we investigated the complete publication history of every replication published in the 36 journals categorized by ISI Web of Knowledge Journal Citation Report as special education. We found that 0.5% of all articles reported seeking to replicate a previously published finding. More than 80% of these replications reported successfully replicating previous findings. However, replications where there was at least one author overlapping with the original article (which happens about two thirds of the time) were statistically significantly more likely to find successful results.

Investigation on maritime accidents is a very important tool in identifying human factor-related problems. This study examines the causes of accidents, in particular the reasons for the grounding of container ships. These are analysed and evaluation according to the contribution rate using the Monte Carlo simulation. The OpenFTA program is used to run the simulation. The study data are obtained from 46 accident reports from 1993 to 2011. The data were prepared by the International Maritime Organization (IMO) Global Integrated Shipping Information System (GISIS). The GISIS is one of the organizations that investigate reported accidents in an international framework and in national shipping companies. The Monte Carlo simulation determined a total of 23.96% human error mental problems, 26.04% physical problems, 38.58% voyage management errors, and 11.42% team management error causes. Consequently, 50% of the human error is attributable to human performance disorders, while 50% team failure has been found.

It is observed that the number of students with hearing impairment placed in inclusive practices in our country has increased rapidly. In parallel, the need for support special education services to be provided in these environments also increases. Support education room is one of the support special education services offered in line with the needs of the student. The aim of this research is to examine the literacy activities applied in Turkish lessons within the scope of support education room service. This research was designed as an action research. The participants of the research; Three hearing-impaired students who receive inclusive education in the fourth grade of primary school are researchers, general education classroom teachers and validity committee members as support education room teachers. Research data was collected with videotape recordings of real classroom interactions, validity committee sound recordings and meeting minutes, lesson plans, reflective research diary, student products and archive documents. The data were analyzed by the researcher and the validity committee members during and after the research process. During the research process, text analysis, question-answer creation, story map creation and space filling activities were applied in Turkish lessons. As a result of the research, it was seen that the students were able to explain the texts they read, guess the meaning of the words they did not know, use the question-answer strategy, determine the text structures, summarize the text, and place words in the text in syntax and meaning. Research results of the hearing impaired students in Turkey is expected to provide support to the training room to offer programs to create benefits for their perspectives on lessons and Turk. Keywords: Hearing impaired student, inclusion, support education room, literacy activities.

Results: Out of the 172 subjects studied, the most common age group was 20-39 years (47.7 %) followed by 40-59 years (27.9 %). The most common neuropsychiatric diagnosis was mood spectrum disorder followed by neurotic (neurotic, stress-related and somatoform) disorders. Psychosis spectrum (schizophrenia, schizotypal and delusional disorders) was the least common. The most common physical comorbid diagnosis was migraine followed by hypertension and diabetes mellitus. In the research process the landscape space of Latvian rehabilitation centers was inspected and analyzed within the social context. The centers were singled out not only by their aesthetical quality, but also by their functional landscape values contained. Rehabilitation gardens and parks are spaces, where people do more than receive medical treatment, they can relax surrounded by nature, engage in physical activities and rest without taking into account ones social status, age, gender, nationality, political views and religion. The goal is to summarize how Latvian rehabilitation gardens and parks promote patients’ physical activities in open space and analyze the functional quality of landscape of Latvian rehabilitation gardens and parks. Considering the quality of rehabilitation center environment, it is important to evaluated their accessibility and usability by possibly greater user spectrum that is characterized as a universal design. In Latvia a conceptual direction of design like this is relatively new, but already positively accepted and applied by specialists. Open space designs of rehabilitation center landscaping directly influence how a person feels and lives in the landscape. They sculpt not only the material quality of the environment, but also improve people’s communication facility and attitude towards one another. It is important for the environment of Latvian rehabilitation institutions to be friendly, because they are created for the use by all social groups and individuals by applying universal standard principles for open space improvement.
