The purpose of this paper is to identify the influence of Big Five personality traits of extraversion, agreeableness, conscientiousness, emotional stability and openness to experience on entrepreneurial intention of engineering undergraduates. Entrepreneurship for engineers is not new to the world. Recent changes in the world and engineering present both challenges and opportunities to engineering education. Engineering education is changing to meet these challenges. A study was conducted with the sample of 202 final year undergraduates in engineering faculties in Sri Lanka. Exploratory Factor Analysis, Multiple Regression and Structural Equation Modeling were applied to analyze the relationships of these variables.  The results demonstrate that entrepreneurial personality traits which relate significantly to entrepreneurial intention of undergraduates are characterized by high emotional stability and openness to experience. The findings are discussed and interpreted to provide important implications to practitioners and academics.

Research since the 1990s reveals that openness to experience—a personality trait that captures interest in novelty, creativity, unconventionalism, and open-mindedness—correlates negatively with political conservatism. This chapter summarizes this vast literature by meta-analyzing 232 unique samples (N = 575,691) that examine the relationship between the Big Five personality traits and conservatism. The results reveal that the negative relationship between openness to experience and conservatism (r = −.145) is nearly twice as big as the next strongest correlation between personality and ideology (namely, conscientiousness and conservatism; r = .076). The associations between personality traits and conservatism were, however, substantively larger in Western, educated, industrialized, rich, and democratic (WEIRD) countries than in non-WEIRD countries. The chapter concludes by reviewing recent longitudinal work demonstrating that openness to experience and conservatism are non-causally related. Collectively, the chapter shows that openness to experience is by far the strongest (negative) correlate of conservatism but that there is little evidence that this association is causal.

PurposeThis study examines the roles of Big Five personality traits, including conscientiousness, agreeableness, extraversion, neuroticism and openness to experience, in shaping green consumption behavior, as well as bridging the attitude-intention-behavior gap in environmentally friendly consumption and testing the gender differences between these associations.Design/methodology/approachA dataset of 611 consumers was collected by means of mall-intercept surveys in major Vietnamese cities. Structural equation modeling (SEM) via AMOS 24.0 was employed to test the proposed conceptual framework and hypotheses, while the PROCESS approach was utilized to estimate mediation standardized regression coefficients.FindingsThe study revealed that in addition to extraversion, other personality traits (agreeableness, conscientiousness, openness to experience and neuroticism) were strongly associated with green consumption. Moreover, attitude towards green products and intention to buy environmentally friendly products were determined to have key roles in explaining consumers' pro-environmental behavior. There was also a notable difference in the impact of personality traits on men's and women's green consumption.Practical implicationsThis study provides useful recommendations for administrational practices seeking to understand consumer behavior, build appropriate marketing and communication campaigns and attract customers to buy environmentally friendly products.Originality/valueThis study makes efforts to resolve the attitude-intention-behavior gap, a recurring theme in the green consumption literature, as well as illustrates the significance of Big Five personality traits in explaining attitude, intention and behavior when purchasing green products. This research also demonstrates that Big Five personality traits have significantly different effects on green consumption attitudes and intention to carry out pro-behavioral consumption.

The aim of this research was to examine the relationship between Big Five Personality traits (neuroticism, extraversion, openness to experience, agreeableness, conscientiousness), occupational stress and job satisfaction of police officers in Cyprus Police. A cross-sectional design was employed, where data was collected at a single time point. A total of 133 participants took part in the research program. The research instruments consisted of the Neo Five Factor Inventory (NEO-FFI) Police Stress Questionnaire (PSQ) and Job Satisfaction Survey (JSS). The result of the research indicated that the correlation of conscientiousness, extraversion, openness to experience and agreeableness to job satisfaction were not significantly linked while neuroticism had a moderately negative correlation with job satisfaction, and it was the only statistically significant relationship. Results showed that gender had a statistically significant relationship with job satisfaction, with males reporting greater job satisfaction than females. Additionally, work stress in the police force significantly predicts job satisfaction over and above the effect of personality traits.

Investment decision making is a crucial process that is influenced by many factors. This study aims to examine the personality traits that influence investment decisions in Peer to Peer Lending companies. Personality measurements performed by researchers using Big Five Personality Traits, with personality dimensions: Openness to Experience, Conscientiousness, Extraversion, Agreeableness, and Neuroticism.As a result of the hypotheses testing, it was concluded that there was a significant relation between Conscientiousness, Neuroticism with investment decision. However, Openness to Experience, Extraversion, and Agreeableness did not predict investment decision. Pengambilan keputusan investasi merupakan proses krusial yang dipengaruhi oleh banyak faktor. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji sifat-sifat kepribadian yang mempengaruhi keputusan investasi di perusahaan Peer to Peer Lending. Pengukuran kepribadian yang dilakukan oleh peneliti menggunakan Big Five Personality Traits, dengan dimensi kepribadian: Openness to Experience, Conscientiousness, Extraversion, Agreeableness, dan Neuroticism.Sebagai hasil dari pengujian hipotesis, disimpulkan bahwa ada hubungan yang signifikan antara Conscientiousness, Neuroticism dengan keputusan investasi. Namun, Keterbukaan terhadap Pengalaman, Extraversion, dan Agreeableness tidak memprediksi keputusan investasi.

Personality plays a significant role in influencing motivation for choosing a perspective profession. As empirical evidence confirmed, personality traits conscientiousness, openness to experience, extraversion are in positive correlation with intrinsic motives for choosing teaching as a profession (in negative with personality trait neuroticism), and in negative correlation with extrinsic motivation and fallback career (in positive with personality trait neuroticism). The primary aim of research is to point out the importance of personality traits in career choices via detecting which personality traits are predictors of fallback career. In the research first grade university students (teacher trainees; N = 402) completed the Five Factor Inventory and SMVUP-4-S scale. As results show, Big Five personality traits are in correlation with fallback career and are a significant predictor of fallback career. The Big Five model together explained 17.4% of the variance in fallback career, where personality traits agreeableness, conscientiousness, openness to experience and neuroticism has been shown as a statistically significant predictor of fallback career of teacher trainees. Purpose The purpose of this study is to investigate the impact of the Big Five personality traits on the entrepreneurial intentions of undergrad university students in Jordan. It further investigates the mediating role of entrepreneurial alertness. Design/methodology/approach A quantitative survey method was conducted with a convenience sample of Jordanian university students. A total of 323 valid questionnaires were received and analyzed. A structural equation modeling with partial least square (PLS) is used to analyze data. Findings Results revealed that conscientiousness, openness and alertness were associated with entrepreneurial intention. Extraversion and openness were associated with alertness, while agreeableness and neuroticism were unrelated to either outcome. Finally, alertness mediates the relationship between extraversion and openness with entrepreneurial intention. Originality/value There is a lack of previous studies investigating the relationship between the Big Five personality traits and students’ entrepreneurial intentions in Jordan, particularly the role of mediating variables in this relationship. This study is considered the first one that examined the mediating role of entrepreneurial alertness in the relationship between personality traits and entrepreneurial intentions.

Recent findings have shown that both trait levels of personality and situational variability in its expression are of importance. So here, the Big Five personality traits of 77 professional and 125 amateur stand-up comedians were compared with two large matched samples ( N > 100,000). The comedians were also observed while performing, which enabled a comparison of their stage personalities with situational requirements on 10 selected NEO-PIR facets. Both amateurs and professionals showed higher openness-to-experience, extraversion, and lower conscientiousness than their norm samples, while professionals also evidenced greater neuroticism. Irrespective of trait standing, with regard to most NEO-PIR facets, professionals expressed the appropriate on-stage persona and were better able to regulate their personality to conform to situational requirements than amateurs. This is consistent with research showing that individuals regulate their personality to conform to situational and goal requirements, and adds the finding that successful comedians demonstrate enhanced adaptability compared with amateurs.

Present study investigates employees fromselectedIT companies in Chandigarh to explore the predictive validity of big five personality traits on their job performance and identify the relationship between personality traits and job performance. The Big Five Personality dimensions, commonly known as five factor model consists of extraversion, agreeableness, conscientiousness, openness to experience and neuroticism. The BFI-Personality Inventory – Revised and self structured Performance Appraisal Questionnaire were used as measuring instruments. A Correlation analysis and Causal Study (Multiple Regression Analysis) was conducted on 404 employees of selected IT companies in Chandigarh to analyzepredictive relationship. Openness to Experience, Agreeableness and Extraversion emerged as significant correlates and predictors of job performance and explained 35.2% of the variance in participants’ management performance.Neuroticism was found to be a negative correlate. On the other hand, Conscientiousness trait had insignificant relation to the model. Theoretical and managerial implications are discussed.

The aim of this paper is to investigate relations between an isolated dimension of Big Five personality traits and job satisfaction, while considering a mediating effect on this relationship. More specifically, personality traits like Openness to experience, Conscientiousness, Extraversion, Agreeableness and Neuroticism or OCEAN, are treated as antecedents of job satisfaction while procedural justice is considered as mediator in understanding the underlying mechanism. Data was gathered via a questionnaire in a cross-sectional study of Big Five Inventory (44 items), Job Satisfaction Survey (12 items) & Procedural Justice (9 items). Primary data were collected from 127 hotel front desk managers working in three-star hotels within central region in Malaysia and were analyzed by using SPSS v25 and PLS-SEM v3.2.8. It was found that across the traits, Neuroticism had the strongest relationship with job satisfaction, while Conscientiousness did not have any relationship with job satisfaction. Procedural justice completely mediated the association between Conscientiousness and job satisfaction, but only partially mediated the relationships between Openness to experience, Extraversion, and Agreeableness and job satisfaction. By assessing the Big-Five personality traits as predictors of job satisfaction, this research adds to the body of knowledge and gives crucial information to indicate that organizations should place a greater emphasis on improving employees’ justice, which is the underlying relationship between personality and job satisfaction. The findings from this paper may allow organizations related to hotel industry to formulate strategic plans to diminish employee turnover rates while increasing job satisfaction and thus profitability.

Abstract. Currently online games have become one of the branches of sports known as Esports. In the competition of Esports, DotA 2 became game the most profitablein terms of prizes. 2018 became the best year in DotA 2 Esports Indonesia, but the development of Esports Dota 2 in Indonesia has decreased in 2019. Despite having problems, the DotA 2 game is still popular in several internet cafes in the city of Bandung. According to Collins, Freeman, & Chamarro-Premuzic (2012) personality traits related to the behavior of playing online games. As the development of knowledge, personality traits can be measured through the concept of Big Five Personality Traits, according to Strus, Cieciuch, & Rowiński (2014) In big five personality traits there are 5 dimensions, namely Emotional Stability vs. Neurotism, Extraversion, Agreeableness, Conscientiousness, and Openness / Intellect. In this study, the method used is descriptive with a purposive sampling technique of 34 Esports gamers in the city of Bandung. The purpose of this study was to determine the personality profile of Esports gamers in the city of Bandng. Researchers used the IPIP BFM-25 standard measuring instrument made by Akhtar & Azwar, (2018). The results of this study show the dimensions of Conscientiousness (82.4%), Agreeableness (88.2%), and Intellect (91.2%) became dominant in the score with a high category, and Emotional Stability (64.7%) become the dominant dimension in the low score category. Abstrak. Saat ini game online sudah menjadi salah satu cabang olahraga yang dikenal dengan Esports. Dalam kompetisi Esports, DotA 2 menjadi game yang paling profit dari segi hadiah. Tahun 2018 menjadi tahun terbaik di Esports DotA 2 Indonesia, namun perkembagan Esports Dota 2 di Indonesia mengalami penurunan pada tahun 2019. Meskipun memiliki permasalahan namun game DotA 2 masih menjadi populer di beberapa warnet di kota Bandung. Menurut Collins, Freeman, & Chamarro-Premuzic (2012) personality traits terkait dengan perilaku bermain game online. Seiring perkembangan ilmunya, personality traits dapat diukur melalui konsep Big Five Personality Traits, menurut Strus, Cieciuch, & Rowiński (2014) Dalam big five personality traits terdapat 5 dimensi, yaitu Emotional Stability vs Neurotism, Extraversion, Agreeableness, Conscientiousness, dan openness / Intellect. Dalam penelitian ini, metode yang dipakai adalah deskriptif dengan teknik sampling purposive terhadap 34 gamers Esports di kota Bandung. Tujuan dari penelitian ini untuk mengetahui profil kepribadian gamers Esports di kota Bandng. Peneliti menggunakan alat ukur baku IPIP BFM-25 yang dibuat oleh Akhtar & Azwar, (2018). Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukan dimensi Conscientiousness (82,4%), Agreeableness (88,2%), dan Intellect (91,2%) menjadi dominan pada skor dengan kategori tinggi, dan Emotional Stability (64,7%) menjadi dimensi yang dominan pada kategori skor rendah.
