Due to the increasing of wind disaster, structural wind engineering arouses more and more attention recently, with rapid development on spatial structure and continuous innovation of structural style. The main purpose of structural wind engineering is to calculate the wind pressure coefficients of structure. In this paper, the numerical wind tunnel method (NWTM), based on the Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), is applied to study wind load. The wind pressure coefficients of reticulated spherical shell with the 4.6m high wall were first determined, using the NWTM. The results are then compared with the wind tunnel test (WTT) and good agreement is found. The feasibility and reliability of NWTM were then verified. As the second example, NWTM is carried out to predict wind-induced pressure on reticulated spherical shell without wall. Further the distribution behavior of wind pressures on this kind of structures is discussed which could provide professionals the reference for the design of structure.

INCREASING LEARNING PRODUCTIVITY FOR STUDY GROUPS OF YOUTH ORGANIZATION IN SURAKARTA. The general conditions of non-formal education such as the current study group, the social activists of this society are certainly experiencing various obstacles, obstacles and problems as well as the ups and downs of its management, but they conclude that this social activity is seen as a challenge that must be addressed wisely so that they hope the existence of this learning group can continue to grow and develop in the future. This can be seen from many of his students in their respective areas who follow the learning group. Non-formal education groups targeted in the implementation of this PKM is the Study Group of “Rumah Anak Pintar” (RAP) in Kampung Sewu Village and Kratonan Learning Group. These two study groups are the guidance of the organization of youth. Identified partner issues are on education and socioeconomic fields. In the field of education, the ability of tutoring teacher is still limited to giving questions and corrections. There is no creative material such as storytelling and playing or the use of multimedia. The socio-economic problems are seen from the supporting infrastructure facilities in inadequate learning. This training activity is divided into two stages: (1) improvement of skills in learning (2) making multimedia-based teaching materials. The outcome of this activity is the making of multimedia-based teaching materials, skill enhancement in the delivery of story material and singing, as well as the provision of learning facilities.

An experimental study was carried out to identify the effect of angle of attack on flow-induced vibration (FIV) of square cylinders. The experiment was conducted at the Aeronautical and Wind Engineering Laboratory (AEROLAB), UTM Kuala Lumpur using a wind tunnel that was free from external wind conditions. A supporting structure was designed and fabricated to conduct this experiment. The importance of this support structure was to enable the rigid cylinder to suspend and vibrate freely upon excitation of wind speed. The results were analysed through the response of amplitude and frequency of the rigid cylinder over a velocity range of 0.5m/s to 4.0m/s. The results showed that for a square cylinder of ?=0°, vortex-induced vibration (VIV) occurred at low reduced velocity (UR) in range of 5 ? UR ? 10 and galloping occurred at higher reduced velocity which started at UR=15. A tranquil zone was found between VIV and galloping in the reduced velocity range of 10 ? UR ? 15. As for ?=22.5° and 45°, only VIV response was found at low reduced velocity in range of 4? UR ? 9. UR ? 9.

In this paper, a modified inlet atmosphere boundary layer (ABL) which satisfies the turbulence model equations is applied to computational wind engineering. The new inflow turbulence boundary condition applied to simulating the flow in the cavity is verified that it is more in line with the actual flows, and then it is used to establish the numerical wind tunnel model to simulate the flow around high-rise buildings. The results are in good agreement with the wind tunnel experimental data, which show the modified ABL combined with Reynolds Stress Model (RSM) is able to better simulate the flow around high-rise buildings.

In the first part of this paper, similarity criteria were elaborated for investiga-tions of aeroelastic sectional models of high voltage line wires. These criteria consider wire vibrations caused by aeroelastic phenomena: vortex excitation, wake galloping and interfer-ence between the wires causing vibration in aerodynamic trace of other wires. Second part of the paper describes the tests conducted in Wind Engineering Laboratory of Cracow Univer-sity of Technology. The subject of this set of tests was identifi cation of aeroelastic vibrations caused by aeroelastic interference of wires, mainly determination of critical velocity of wires galloping and wake galloping for selected cases of snow and ice covers on the wires.

The paper deals with the wind action on flat roofs of rectangular shapes which can be considered for medium-rise and high-rise buildings. Distributions of mean pressure coefficient Cp on flat roofs were measured. All analyses were based on model measurements which had been performed in the boundary layer wind tunnel in Wind Engineering Laboratory of Cracow University of Technology. Vertical, fixed in the floor of the wind tunnel on the turn table rectangular prisms of the ratio of cross-section dimensions 1:2 and 1:4 were investigated. Measurements were carried out for the angle of wind attack in the range 0°-90°, every 15°. The influence of the wind structure on pressures was investigated in six different cases of the approaching wind.
