Communication skills have become extremely important for successful communication in today’s time. As integral part of professional development of each individual, particular attention is paid to the skills of personal and public presentation. Further development of information and communication technologies has inevitably led to various forms of public appearance, whether it is a presentation of a product or new projects for different kinds of audience. However, formal education does not attach sufcient importance to public speech and public performance. More precisely, since the modern labour market requires adequate communication skills and knowledge, it would be necessary to implement a legal curriculum by introducing subjects of public speaking and public presenting in Formal Higher Education, specifcally in each curriculum of all faculties of social sciences. Such a reform in higher education is certainly the frst step in the professional development and democratic progress of the whole society.

The article deals with the main strategic aspects of the development of information and communication technologies in the European higher education institutions. The Council of Europe documents on strategy issues have been analyzed. The ways of implementation of information and communication technologies at the national and international levels have been determined which will ensure the competitiveness of the knowledge and competences of prospective specialists who should contribute to innovation in order to successfully enter the European labor market. It has been emphasized that the basis of modern information environment of the University is the provision of all types of support (technical, software, informational, methodological, organizational) that promotes learners’ interaction, implementation of pedagogical technologies and algorithms for managing the educational process, preconditions for innovation and research activities. The strategic trends of ICT implementation in Slovenian universities have been defined: the development and testing of innovative pedagogical approaches, models and strategies of training; creation of ICT open platform, electronic content, services, pedagogical concepts and approaches, models of motivational mechanisms, cloud technologies in educational space, updating of educational network, creation of synergistic and interdisciplinary environment for partnership of all interested parties; ensuring a high level of digital competence and the use of ICTs within the entire education system; promoting the enhancement of the key competencies in general, higher education and adult education: the introduction of e-learning in higher education as a way of achieving the objectives of formal education, expanding e-learning in non-formal education; ensuring the efficiency of the ICT implementation strategy on the basis of regular measurement and evaluation, analysis of indicators of the impact of ICT on education at the national level, and its comparative analysis at the international level, ensuring the implementation of international standards of quality and comparability of ICT indicators in education.

The development of communication skills in Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) majors is increasingly identified as a priority area, with both academic and industry groups calling for a greater focus on the development of these skills within the higher education curriculum. Although widely recognised as important, there is a lack of guidance within the ICT area as to how communication skills should be taught, and the most effective means of developing these skills. This chapter reports on approaches to teaching communication skills development within the ICT discipline. The main contribution of this chapter is the categorisation of communication skills course activities reflecting the context of modern communication skills required by IT professionals that can be easily mapped to a discipline curriculum. These activities represent examples of both informal activities designed to engage students regularly with developing their communication skills, and formal activities designed to assist assessment, including self- and peer-assessment. The authors present their experiences in the design and delivery of an intensive communications skills course designed for international articulation students. An initial analysis of the progress of these students demonstrates increased clarity in the students’ understanding of study and communication requirements, and improved performance in language-rich assessments.

Information and communication technologies (ICT) are an essential portion of teaching learning process. The article  examines the use of the application of ICT tools in teaching mathematics and to identify the attitudes of teachers towards the use of ICT tools at Mid-Western University, Nepal. The result of the study indicated  the positive attitudes of teachers along with the need of the use of the ICT tools for professional development of teachers and increase the performance of the learners as the learners were found motivated by the recent development of the tools. Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) are the major driving forces of globalised and knowledge-based societies of a new world era. They will have a profound impact on teaching and learning for two decades to come. The revolutionary change which is taking place in Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs), has dramatic effects on the way universities carry out their functions of teaching, learning and research, particularly on the creation, dissemination and application of knowledge. These developments pose unprecedented challenges to higher education institutions (HEIs) in developing countries particular in South Africa as South Africa is viewed as the leading country on the continent.

Information and communication technologies (ICTs) are key to create sustainable higher education institutions (HEIs). Most researchers focused on the students’ perspective, especially during the online teaching caused by COVID-19; however, university teachers are often forgotten, having their opinion missing. This study’s objective was to determine the factors that contribute to the inclusion of ICTs. The research based on a comparative study through an online qualitative survey focused on the inclusion and use of ICTs in two HEIs and two different moments (pre-and post-lockdowns). There were differences regarding country and working experience (p < 0.001), being linked to the ICTs use, evaluation of obstacles, and the role given to ICTs (p < 0.05). The COVID-19 caused modifications of the teachers’ perspectives, including an improvement of the opinion of older teachers regarding the essentialness of ICTs in the teaching process (p < 0.001) and worsening their perception about their ICTs skill (p < 0.05). Additionally, an initial model focused only on the university teachers and their use of ICTs has been proposed. In conclusion, the less experienced university teachers used more ICTs, identified more greatly the problematic factors, and considered more important the ICTs, with the perception of all teachers modified by COVID-19.

The purpose of this paper is to analyze the integration of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) in higher education for imparting easily accessible, affordable and quality higher education leading to the uplift of Malaysia. The focus of the paper is on the benefits that ICT integration in education can provide, right from breaking time and distance barriers to facilitating collaboration and knowledge sharing among geographically distributed students. ICT increases the flexibility of delivery of education so that learners can access knowledge anytime and anywhere. It can influence the way students are taught and how they learn as now the processes are learner driven and not by teachers. This in turn would better prepare the learners for lifelong learning as well as to contribute to the industry. We will also analyze if ICT does indeed improve or hinder the quality of learning among higher education students. This paper reports on the changing trends in use of ICTs for instruction in higher education institutions (HEIs) and discusses a mini-case study of how ICTs are being used by lecturers in one university in Malaysia.
