Objective – The objective of this study is to identify the key elements of buying beauty products in drugstore chains, discuss the reasons and factors behind why these drugstore chains had become the customers’ preference to visit and purchase beauty products, and to find out the relation of store convenience of drugstore chains to purchase intention of their beauty products. Methodology – The method used in this research is quantitative using an online survey started in November 2020. From 132 distributed questionnaires using Google Form link, only 106 responses are valid. Findings – The results reveal that shopping enjoyment and competitive price to have a significant influence on intention to purchase. However, the relationship between convenience and purchase intention was not supported. Novelty – Previous studies have predominantly examined the main effect of shopping convenience on purchase intention. This study extends our understanding of this relationship by highlighting the non-significant result in the convenience–intention linkage.

In this study, the author has given different basis to build hypothesis and research models to find out the factors affecting the Vietnamese young consumer's intention to purchase upcycled fashion products. Firstly, this paper focuses on studying the relationship between attitudes and purchase intentions. Secondly, the author studies the effects of factors on attitudes and purchase intentions. The main research subjects are factors affecting Vietnamese young consumer' intention to to purchase upcycled fashion products. Hence, this research was conducted based on survey results among 400 young people aged 18 to 34 in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh city which are two big city in Vietnam. The authors used two statistical software, SPSS 26.0 and AMOS 20.0, to analyze the survey results. These tools help the authors analyze Cronbach's Alpha reliability coefficients, exploratory factor analysis (EFA), confirmatory factor analysis (CFA), structural equation model (SEM). The results show that there was a positive relationship between young consumers' attitudes and purchase intention in the Vietnamese context. Attitude mediates the relationship between the influencing factors and purchase intention. Moreover, the study test the impact of five main factors including environmental concern, social value, uniqueness value, perception financial risk, and perceive quality risk. The environmental concern (β = 0.337) is considered as the strongest effect on consumers' attitudes towards products. The factors such as uniqueness value (β = 0.302) as well as social value (β = 0.216) also positively affect consumers' attitudes. On the other hand, perception financial risk (β = -0.168), and perceive quality risk (β = -0.280) negatively affect consumers' attitudes

Tujuan dari penelitian ini untuk mengetahui faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi purchase intention produk kosmetik Korea merek Secondate. Variabel yang diteliti meliputi firm generated content, brand awarenesss, eWOM, brand loyalty, serta purchase intention. Terdapat 200  responden produk Secondate di Jabodetabek yang berpartisipasi dalam survei yang dilakukan secara online. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa brand loyalty dan brand awareness dapat memediasi pengaruh firm generated content pada purchase intention, namun eWOM tidak terbukti memiliki peran mediasi dalam pengaruh firm generated content pada purchase intention. Secara teoretis hasil penelitian ini memiliki implikasi dalam pengembangan literatur bidang pemasaran pada era digital. Adapun implikasi praktis hasil penelitian ini dapat dimanfaatkan bagi pemasar dalam menyusun strategi pemasaran digital, khususnya dalam pemasaran di media sosial dengan memanfaatkan firm generated content.  The purpose of this study was to examine factors affecting purchase intention of Korean cosmetic products under the Secondate brand. Research variables consist of  firm generated content, brand awareness, eWOM, brand loyalty, and purchase intention. There are 200 Secondate respondents in Greater Jakarta who participated in the online survey. The results of this study indicate that brand loyalty and brand awareness have mediating effect in the relationship between firm generated content and purchase intention, however, eWOM had no mediating effect in the relationship between firm generated content and purchase intention. Theoretically, the results of this study have implications in the development of marketing literature in the digital era. The practical implications of the study can be used for marketers in developing digital marketing strategies, especially on social media marketing by utilizing firm generated content.

<b><i>Introduction:</i></b> The influence of marketing on addictive behaviours has been studied among tobacco and alcohol users. Although the fashion industry is highly influenced by marketing, research has poorly studied vulnerability to fashion marketing as a factor related to buying-shopping disorder (BSD) while considering psychological characteristics (buying motives, impulsivity, and self-esteem). <b><i>Objective:</i></b> The objective of the present work is to investigate the relationship between vulnerability to marketing and BSD. <b><i>Methods:</i></b> Women (<i>n</i> = 242) were exclusively recruited through social networking. They completed an online survey exploring the severity of BSD using the <i>Compulsive Buying Scale</i> (CBS) and the psychological factors associated with BSD (impulsivity, self-esteem, and buying motives) and an experimental task designed to investigate the intention to purchase in several situations, where marketing modalities such as price, brand, and packaging fluctuate. <b><i>Results:</i></b> Among the 242 participants in the study, 34 were identified as compulsive buyers (14%). Income level was considered, and compulsive buyers displayed a higher level of vulnerability to marketing, except for the packaging modality. High levels of positive urgency, lack of premeditation, and coping motivation were found to be significant predictors of the CBS score, but vulnerability to marketing was not. <b><i>Discussion and Conclusions:</i></b> Compulsive buyers seem to be more sensitive to marketing strategies, although vulnerability to marketing was not identified as a predictor of the severity of BSD. Given the enormous literature on the role of marketing in other addictive behaviours, further studies are needed to better understand the role of marketing in BSD to develop appropriate public health policies.

Recently in Malaysia, a substantial number of consumers have been found to be avoiding online shopping as they prefer to shop in physical stores. This scenario brings up the issue of whether Malaysian consumers are ready technologically to shop online. To tackle this issue, a review of the concept of technology readiness is made to help explain Malaysian consumers’ online purchase intention behaviour. Technology readiness is chosen here because the concept reflects an individual’s predisposition in the usage and adoption of new technology. For the purpose of this review, this study selects technology readiness concept as proposed by Parasuraman  (2000). From the review, this study found that technology readiness has been measured in the past either as a single (unidimensional) or a multidimensional construct involving four factors, namely, optimism, innovativeness, discomfort and insecurity. A summary on past researchers’ findings in identifying the relationship between technology readiness (and its proposed dimensions) with technology usage is included in this review. For example, technology readiness was found to have a significant influence on behavioural intention in using mobile commerce to purchase travel-related service. Additionally, technology readiness motivator (optimism and innovativeness) and inhibitor (discomfort and insecurity) were identified to be related to intention to use technology. Based on the review, this study proposes a model to help explain the user’s intention to purchase online situation. In the proposed model, both technology readiness motivators and inhibitors are suggested to show positive and negative influences respectively on the user’s intention to purchase online. This review is thought to be beneficial to many. For instance, researchers would find insights on the usefulness of technology readiness and on how it has been and can be applied for further investigation. As for marketing practitioners, the review would help guide them understand the influence technology readiness has on consumers behaviour intention in adopting online shopping which they could apply for future marketing strategy.

ABSTRACT The research examines the role of time pressure as moderating variable to the relationship between functional value and emotional value on purchase intention on flash sale product. Data for this research were collected by online survey and administered to 150 respondents. The hypothesis testing was conducted using multiple regression analysis and hierarchical regression analysis. Finding of this indicated that functional value and emotional value have positive and significant effect on purchase intention. Time pressure has no negatively moderated the effect of functional value and emotional value on purchase intention. Keywords: functional value, emotional value, time pressure ABSTRAK Penelitian ini menguji peran tekanan waktu sebagai variabel moderasi hubungan antara nilai fungsional dan nilai emosional terhadap niat beli konsumen pada produk flash sale. Data di kumpulkan melalui survey online dengan 150 responden. Pengujian hipotesis dilakukan dengan menggunakan analisis regresi berganda dan analsisi regresi hirarki. Hasil dari penelitian menunjukan bahwa nilai fungsional dan nilai emosional berpengaruh terhadap niat beli. Purpose This paper aims to examine the role of religiosity on consumers’ forgiveness when celebrities get involved in transgression. The celebrity’s reaction and its impact on consumers’ forgiveness is tested as well. In addition, consumers’ attitudes towards the brand and celebrity as well as purchase intention for the endorsed brand are examined both before and after the transgression. Design/methodology/approach Data (n = 356) were collected through a self-administered online survey and analysed though structural equation modelling in AMOS 26. Findings The results show that consumers’ attitude towards celebrity, brand and purchase intention gets weaker once the celebrity gets into transgression. Consumers tend to forgive more if the celebrity apologises (vs denies) for the wrongdoing. The hypothesised relationship between attitude towards celebrity and purchase intention did not sustain after the transgression. In addition, consumers’ intrinsic religiosity strengthens the relationship between attitude towards the celebrity and purchase intention. Practical implications The findings of this research present valuable implications for brands practitioners. Brands should formulate actionable contingency plans to mitigate the negative ramifications of celebrity transgressions. Specifically, intrinsic religiosity and celebrity apologies should assist consumers in forgiving the transgression and negate the implications that could have arisen if the celebrity instead denied the transgressions. Originality/value This research extends the previous research by examining religiosity and forgiveness within the context of celebrity transgressions. To the best of the authors’ knowledge, this is one of the first few research studies to consider the role religiosity plays in consumers’ intention to forgive celebrity transgressions.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to examine the relationship between attitude functions and attitude towards social media advertising. Additionally, this study also examines the relationship between attitude towards social media advertising and purchase intention. Design/methodology/approach The data was collected via an online survey among Malaysian Muslim participants. Quantitative analysis was used to test the hypothesis. A total of 280 respondents participated in the online survey but only 264 responses fit the analysis. The data was analysed via SPSS and partial least squares structural equation modelling. Findings The findings of this paper show that attitude functions, namely, utilitarian, value-expressive, ego-defensive and religiosity have a significant positive influence on attitude towards social media advertising, whilst knowledge function was found to be insignificant. Attitude towards social media advertising was also found to have a significant positive influence on purchase intention. Practical implications Advertisers should also consider the religious aspects of Muslim consumers and their level of sensitivity as Muslims nowadays are well-informed. This is to avoid controversies and have a better understanding of their consumer needs. Originality/value This is one of the few studies examining the influence of religiosity in the social media advertising of controversial products such as bubble tea.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to investigate the relationship between personal values and attitudes in an emerging market. And the authors verified whether the attitude plays a mediating role between personal values and the intention to purchase these products in the same market. Design/methodology/approach Two surveys were conducted with consumers of organic food in Brazil. The first study was conducted at two organic products fairs and obtained 385 responses. The second study was conducted on the internet and obtained 270 responses. The Portrait Values Questionnaire 21, plus attitude scales and purchase intent regarding organic food, was used. Data were analysed using structural equation modelling. Findings Significant relationships were found between personal values, such as openness to change (positive influence), conservation (positive), self-promotion (positive) and self-transcendence (negative). Significant relationships were also found between three personal values and the purchase intention of organic food (conservation – positive, self-promotion – positive and self-transcendence – negative), with all of them being mediated by attitude. The effect of openness to change on purchase intention was indirect, being mediated by attitude. Originality/value The authors noticed two theoretical gaps. The first involves the need to explore the attitude as a mediator in the relationship between the human values proposed by Schwartz (1992, 1994) and the intention to purchase organic food. Another perceived gap was pointed out by Steenkamp et al. (1999), Burgess and Steenkamp (2006) and Sheth (2011). These authors argue that consumption is different in emerging markets to that in more mature markets. This limits the ability to generalise consumer studies conducted in developed countries. This reasoning also applies to organic food.

PurposeAnchored on social trust theory, social identity theory and signalling theory, this study investigates the process of how consumers respond to online retailers' corporate social responsibility (CSR).Design/methodology/approachFollowing the hypo-deductive research design, a unique model was developed to link online retailers' CSR with consumer purchase intention through brand identification and word of mouth (WOM). This model was subsequently tested and validated by conducting an online survey to 239 customers of a major online retailer in China, that is, JD.com.FindingsAnalysis using structural equation modelling demonstrates that online retailers' CSR is positively associated with consumer purchase intention, and brand identification positively mediates such an association. In addition, WOM exhibits a mediating effect on the relationship between perceived online retailers' CSR and consumer purchase intention and between brand identification and consumer purchase intention.Practical implicationsOnline retailers must endeavour to employ CSR as a strategy to enhance consumer purchase intention and behaviour. Moreover, they should develop communication programmes that highlight their engagement in CSR activities to improve their brand image and facilitate consumers' positive WOM.Originality/valueTo the best of the researchers' knowledge, this study is the first to examine the mediating roles of brand identification and WOM in the relationship between online retailers' CSR and customer purchase intention. Furthermore, this study extends current knowledge about online retailers' CSR and its potential impact in emerging economies by focussing on the context of China.

Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to empirically explore antecedents of local food purchase intention in two food producing countries with different cultural backgrounds. Design/methodology/approach – An online survey was employed to collect data from consumers located in Chile (n=283) and Australia (n=300). A proposed model is tested with structural equation modelling. Findings – Attitude towards consuming local food is a strong and direct driver of intentions to purchase local food in both countries. Attitude towards supporting local agri-businesses and consumer ethnocentrism are found to positively impact attitude towards consuming local food in both countries. Attitude towards local agri-businesses also has a direct effect on intentions to purchase local food in Australia, but not in Chile. Interestingly, subjective norms are not found to affect intentions to consume local food in either country. Research limitations/implications – The paper examines factors affecting the attitude towards and behavioural intention regarding local food consumption and develops an extended model of local food consumption. An outcome of this new model is the inclusion of personal variables, which influence local food purchasing behaviour. Practical implications – Producers and retailers need to develop campaigns explaining how consuming local food supports local businesses and farmers, which will reinforce personal values associated with local consumption. Originality/value – This is the first study to demonstrate that positive attitudes towards local foods are important drivers of local food purchase behaviour, independent of the cultural characteristics or level of economic development within a country.
