In most developing countries, higher numbers of women depend on microenterprise for survival, and access to electricity supply is considered to be vital to the operations of microenterprise businesses. Despite the significance of rural electrification, microenterprises are still battling with a lack of quality and stable electricity supply. To this end, this study analyzed the effect of grid electricity supply on the profitability of microenterprise among rural women. Primary data were used for this study. The data collected were analyzed using descriptive statistics, the Probit model, and the ordinary least square (OLS) method. The result shows that hairdressing (16.8%) is the most common form of businesses followed by tailoring (14.1%), oil palm processing (12.4%), grain milling (7.9%), traditional birth attendants and retail shop (7.1%). Also, the result reveals that age, years of schooling, connection charge, enterprise share of electricity bill with household, and duration of power outage supported the adoption of electricity service among microenterprise owners. The study further shows that the billing method of electricity supply negatively affects the profitability of microenterprise. On the other hand, grid electricity adoption, years spent in business, duration of power supply, and expenditure on alternative sources of energy significantly have a positive impact on the profitability of microenterprise. The study, therefore, recommends that the Government should intensify action in providing rural communities with reliable and affordable electricity services, which is one of the indispensable tools in microenterprises establishment, expansion, and performance.

ABSTRACTHuman resources (HR) is an important role for an organization that fails to achieve its goals. Therefore HR needs to get knowledge management, compensation, work motivation and have a good working spirit. Humans as the key to the success of a company desperately need knowledge of good management in order to manage the company. Employees need knowledge about management to provide knowledge to organizations within a company. There are 2 (two) types of knowledge, namely tacit knowledge and explicit knowledge. Then compensation is very influencing employee performance because with compensation, employees will also get a service reward that is appropriate and motivates employees. Work motivation can be interpreted as a condition in one's personal self so that the person is motivated to carry out an activity or activity and has a work spirit to improve optimal performance within the company. This study uses CB-SEM (Covariance Based-Structural Equation Modeling) analysis techniques. Besides that, the sobel test testing method was also used in this study. The data used in this study are primary data through the distribution of questionnaires and secondary data from previous studies, literature, print media (newspapers and magazines) and electronic media (internet). The results showed that management knowledge, compensation, work motivation, and work morale had a positive and significant influence on employee performance at Danoya Villa Batu Belig, Krobokan. (1) The value of t count = 2.2933> of the value of t table = 1.96. Thus it can be said that the Work Spirit variable is the mediating variable of the influence of Management Knowledge on Employee Performance. (2) Value of t count = 1.5606 <from the value of t table = 1.96. Thus it can be said that the Work Spirit variable is not the mediating variable of the influence of Compensation on Employee Performance. (3) Value of t arithmetic = 1.6767 <from ttable = 1.96. Thus it can be said that the Work Spirit variable is not a mediating variable the effect of Work Motivation on Employee Performance. Based on the results of the study it can be suggested as follows: Villa Danoya Batubelig Kerobokan Badung in fostering employee morale and performance in order to better understand what the employees want and need. For this reason, the Villa Danoya Batubelig Kerobokan Badung is intended to further enhance the development of human resources in the company. With the growth of morale and employee performance, it will have an impact on improving services, so that the number of guests staying overnight will increase

Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to evaluate the relationship between time-based manufacturing competence (TBMC), time-based competitiveness, time-based manufacturing capability, and the performance of SMEs engaged in the steel minimill industry in the USA. Design/methodology/approach – This study was based on an empirical investigation of manufacturing firms in the steel minimill industry in the USA. The sample of firms was provided by the US Association of Iron and Steel Engineers. In order to obtain valid and reliable measures of the variables, previously validated scales were used to measure all variables. The primary data for the study were collected from a self-administered mail survey of 137 SMEs with the sample consisting of 71 SMEs indicating a response rate of 52 percent. Findings – Statistically significant positive relationships were found between all independent variables and performance. The results also indicate that the high performers have a higher TBMC than the low performers. The findings further confirm the assertion in the manufacturing strategy literature which states that time, as a strategic factor, is a source of competitive advantage. Research limitations/implications – From a methodological perspective, a potential concern may be that the measures are all self-reported. Consequently, the relationships tested may be susceptible to the influence of common method variance. Practical implications – TBMC enables SMEs to offer high-quality products at low cost and in a timely manner. This reflects the value of the positive relationship between TBMC and business performance. Originality/value – This study’s finding identifies the need for time-based competition. The literature suggests that the strategic focus on time enables firms to obtain a sustainable competitive advantage. Nevertheless, this suggestion has been based on conceptual rather than empirical research. The results of this study provide empirical support for that suggestion with respect to SMEs.

The Ji’an PM No. 3 is the first linerboard machine in China to use multilayer curtain coating technology. Since successful startup at the end of 2011, further development has been carried out to optimize running conditions, coating formulations, and the base paper to provide a product with satisfactory quality and lower cost to manufacture. The key challenges include designing the base board structure for the desired mechanical strength, designing the surface properties for subsequent coating operations, optimizing the high-speed running of the curtain coater to enhance production efficiency, minimizing the amount of titanium dioxide in the coating color, and balancing the coated board properties to make them suitable for both offset and flexographic printing. The pilot and mill scale results show that curtain coating has a major positive impact on brightness, while smoothness is improved mainly by the blade coating and calendering conditions. Optimization of base board properties and the blade + curtain + blade concept has resulted in the successful use of 100% recycled fiber to produce base board. The optical, mechanical, and printability properties of the final coated board meet market requirements for both offset and flexographic printing. Machine runnability is excellent at the current speed of 1000 m/min, and titanium dioxide has been eliminated in the coating formulations without affecting the coating coverage. A significant improvement in the total cost of coated white liner production has been achieved, compared to the conventional concept of using virgin fiber in the top ply. Future development will focus on combining low cost with further quality improvements to make linerboard suitable for a wider range of end-use applications, including frozen-food packaging and folding boxboard.
