Workers are exposed to different factors that can be detrimental to their well-being, being the most known safety and hygiene factors. A few years ago, the concepts of harmful factors for workers were updated by adding the psychosocial factors. Although there is literature on psychosocial factors and their effect on health, this work focused specifically on seeking the relationship between productivity and psychosocial factors to know how it impacts the organization. The investigation was applied in a case study for a doorknob locks manufacturing company in its final assembly area. Data collection was done by applying the questionnaire provided by NOM-035-STPS-2018 and the company's productivity databases for the subsequent analysis using statistical tools. The results were that, for the violence factor, its correlation with productivity was R2 = 0.8886, indicating a strong correlation with which it is concluded that there is an influence on productivity.

AbstractMonitoring hygiene and motivation factors from Herzberg’s Two-Factor Theory is a popular way of understanding the influential aspects for employee satisfaction and motivation. The increased availability of employee feedback comprised in online employer reviews yields a promising data source to learn more about these influential factors and the theory itself. However, the application of the Two-Factor Theory to such reviews is yet missing. Thus, this article demonstrates how to apply this theory to more than 2 million online employer reviews. For that, review aspects as well as review ratings are leveraged to study factors that influence employee satisfaction with respect to the theory. Based on the gained insights, a prediction experiment is conducted to forecast employee satisfaction through the textual content of reviews. The presented approach identifies relevant aspects for satisfied and dissatisfied employees working in 43 different industries and 4 different countries. Overall, the results indicate that hygiene factors are most relevant for reviewers, while motivation factors are rather incidental. The prediction experiment achieves a mean balanced accuracy of 0.87, suggesting that review text is predictive for employee satisfaction. Further, the article adds useful input to the discussion of the Two-Factor Theory by providing comparative results across a plethora of different employers, industries and countries.

This study aims to test and determine whether competence and work motivation have an influence on employee performance. The research method used is the verification method with a quantitative approach. The sample used in this research is nonprobability sampling with saturated sampling. So in this study using all populations of 76 respondents. The data analysis technique used in this research is multiple linear regression analysis techniques and to measure the research variables, researchers use a Likert scale. The results of data analysis show that employee competence consisting of intellectual competence, emotional competence and social competence has no influence on the employee performance of PT. EGI. Meanwhile, the results of the data indicate that work motivation which consists of motivator factors and hygiene factors has a strong influence on the performance of the employees of PT. EGI. However, if further tested together the competency and work motivation variables above have a positive and significant effect on the performance of the employees of PT. EGI.

<p class="TTPAbstract">The need for sliced scallions is relatively large, so a tool that can assist in the slicing process is more effective both in terms of energy and time spent. Based on these problems, the idea was born to design a scallion slicing machine to help the community in slicing scallions, especially food sellers who need scallions such as egg martabak sellers, and food sellers.</p><p class="TTPAbstract">The method used is literature study (library), field observations, and problem-solving methods in the form of design which includes pre-planning in the form of machine sketches, machine concept planning, calculations, making working drawings, procurement of materials and components, toolmaking, assembly, and testing.</p><p class="TTPSectionHeading">The output of this final project is the manufacture of a scallion slicing machine that is simple and effective by not forgetting the safety and hygiene factors so that it can support the slicing process at the scale of traders and home industries. This tool has a capacity of 300 grams per minute using a DC 775 motor and is sourced from four 18650 li-ion batteries.</p>

Purpose Assessing the impact of hygiene factors on faculty motivation and satisfaction in online teaching will advance the literature. It will especially demystify that both factors (hygiene factors and motivator) can cause job satisfaction in online education. The purpose of this paper is to firstly determine the level of faculty motivation and satisfaction in online teaching. Secondly, this study analyses the extent to which hygiene factors affect motivation and faculty satisfaction with online teaching. Design/methodology/approach The population of this study consists of university faculty in Indonesia and Malaysia. The sample is randomly chosen in 50 higher education institutions in Indonesia and Malaysia. The sample size is 206. The participants completed a survey, including perceived student engagement, institutional support, motivation, faculty satisfaction and demographical questions. To test the model, PLS-SEM was used using SmartPLS3 software. The hygiene factors construct was operationalized as a second-order construct consisting of first-order construct: student engagement and institutional support. Findings There were no statistically significant differences concerning institutional support and motivation by country of residence. However, there were significant differences in student engagement and faculty satisfaction by country residence. Concerning satisfaction and motivation, the most satisfied and motivated was the faculty member in Indonesia. Hygiene factors were found as the antecedent to faculty motivation and faculty motivation multiplying hygiene factors' effect on job satisfaction. The results showed that student engagement has the highest impact on faculty satisfaction, followed by motivation. Work motivation mediates the relationship between hygiene factors and faculty satisfaction. Research limitations/implications This study has limitations; firstly, causal inferences are not warranted as the data is cross-sectional. However, a future direction is to analyse the causal relationship between the hygiene factors, and motivation factors on faculty satisfaction using a formative first-order construct through a longitudinal study. Secondly, the results’ generalizability is another limitation of this study because the sample comprised only Indonesia and Malaysia faculty across 51 higher education institution in big cities in the island of Java in Indonesia and Malaysia peninsular only; however, the factors determined in this study represent the job-related aspects taken from the literature and the researchers’ experiences; other parts influence faculty satisfaction with online teaching. Therefore, identifying other elements is a future path. Practical implications When managers aim at increasing faculty satisfaction, the priority should be given to improve the performance of indicators with the highest effect but a relatively low in performance. All of this implies that higher education institution first needs to find ways to increase motivation by rewarding faculty in many forms, and improve the quality of instruction. Secondly, implementing policies and make some decisions that require an investment such as providing a learning management system. Social implications Indonesia and Malaysia higher education institutions may ameliorate faculty satisfaction with online teaching in several ways. Firstly, before the online course begins, higher education institutions should attempt to have faculty believe teaching online is worthwhile and understand the institution itself also believes it is significant. Administer training for faculty, especially regarding increasing connections with and between students, gives faculty the time needed to design an online course and provide faculty with a course management system with multiple capabilities. Secondly, during the online course, higher education institutions should support technical issues and try to have faculty believe they have an accommodating work schedule and independence with the online course. Originality/value This research firstly contributes to the literature by establishing the relationship between hygiene factors and motivation, and hygiene factors and satisfaction, which did not exist according to the two-factor theory in the past. Secondly, the authors provide evidence of motivation constructs as a mediating variable. Thirdly, this study broadens the literature scope by including faculty in two countries (Indonesia and Malaysia). It includes faculty from 51 higher education systems (e.g. public and private four-year universities), incudes graduate school in seven big cities in two countries, Indonesia and Malaysia.

Though luxury products have unique characteristics that predominantly influence online luxury behaviour, study on luxury shopping websites has received little attention in academic literature. This research investigates how hygiene factors of website design attributes (information quality, functional quality and situational normality) impact on trust and distrust on luxury shopping websites. Free simulation experiments were conducted with 386 subjects and data were collected using a structured questionnaire for this study. The study found that information quality and functional quality have a strong effect on trust and distrust on luxury shopping websites. This study also found that these factors not only act as hygiene factors but also as motivating factors in the luxury context. Surprisingly, situational normality is negatively related to trust and positively related to distrust in the study. Managerial implications regarding the development of luxury websites and research opportunities are discussed.
