The article introduces a new construct in psychologyemotional intelligence /EI/ and describes why it is important in our daily and professional lives. It gives a brief description of the origin of the idea of EI, outlines the authors and theories on that basis. There are four parts, or domains, to the Emotional and Social Intelligence Leadership Competency Model developed by Daniel Goleman.

This study aims to assess the social intelligence of prospective teachers in relation to gender, stream, and emotional intelligence. Initial sample of the study consisted of 400 prospective teachers on which Rogan Emotional Intelligence Test (REIT) developed and standardized by Zainuddin (2005) and Social Intelligence Scale developed and standardized by Chadha and Ganeshan (2009) were administered. The sampled teachers were categorized into two extreme groups on the basis of emotional intelligence scores. Finally, the sample consisted of 136 prospective teachers i.e. 68 of each gender as well as 68 of each stream of teacher education. Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) was applied for data analysis. Significant differences were found in their social intelligence on the basis of their emotional intelligence. However, no significant differences were observed in the social intelligence of prospective teachers on the basis of their gender and stream.

The aim of our study was to determine features of social and emotional intelligence in family caregivers of patients with endogenous mental disorders as a basis for communicative resource formation in family where a patient lives. Materials and methods: A total of 273 family caregivers of patients with paranoid schizophrenia and bipolar disorder were involved into this survey under informed consent conditions. Control group included 55 mentally healthy respondents, in whose families there is no mentally sick family member. Emotional intelligence of family caregivers was measured using the psychodiagnostic test “EQ” by N. Hall. To assess level of social intelligence the J. Gilford and M. Sullivan test (in adaptation done by Mikhailova E.S.) was used. Values of p <0.05 were considered significant. Results: The study revealed that family caregivers of patients with schizophrenia and affective disorders demonstrate a decrease in emotional and social intelligence indicators, which creates significant obstacles for effective interpersonal family communication and for the harmonious functioning of a family, in which a mentally sick patient lives, in general. Difficulties of emotional regulation, emotional management, recognition of emotional states of other participants of communication related to the level of emotional and social intelligence of FC are factors, that complicate interpersonal relations in families of patients and reduce possibilities for psychosocial adaptation of all family members. Conclusions: Revealed features should be taken into consideration when creating appropriate psycho-educational and psycho-corrective programs for family caregivers of patients with endogenous mental disorders.

This study aims to analyze the effect of entrepreneurial intelligence through the role of social media on the performance of SMEs in increasing sales. The type of research used is explanatory research with Accidental Sampling technique. The number of samples determined was 80 respondents. Data analysis in this study using SmartPLS version 3.0 software. The results showed that entrepreneurial intelligence consisting of elements of financial intelligence, emotional intelligence, social intelligence and spiritual intelligence had an effect on the performance of SMEs through the role of social media, social media had an effect on performance and sales and performance had an effect on sales.

We live in a world that is changing faster than ever before and facing unparalleled challenges. In the current competitive situation where students are expected to perform multi roles with performance and effectiveness, it is highly needed to realize their right position and passionate intelligence towards the unseen complexities of life and quality education. The proposed New Policy on Education mainly focused on improving the quality of education that can be produced by making the students emotionally intelligent. Emotional knowledge helps in bringing better achievement of students and offer them skills for their personal and professional lives. The present study was an attempt to study the emotional intelligence of t higher secondary school students. A random sampling method was used. The sample consisted of 300 higher secondary school students. The emotional intelligence scale developed and standardized by the Reuven baron was used for data collection. Statistical techniques like Mean, Percentiles, Standard deviation, and t-value were used to analyses the data. The result shows  that emotional intelligence was independent of gender, subject, locality ofthe school, type of family, father’s occupation, and family income. The level of higher secondary schoolstudent’s emotional intelligence was average in nature. The female students are better than the male students on their emotional intelligence.

The purpose of this study is to see whether there is a relationship between emotional intelligence and academic achievement. The study respondents were B.Tech first year students from the Agra region. Sampling is stratified, making sure that gender, race, socioeconomic status, and abilities are appropriately represented. The respondents are given Emotional Intelligence Inventory (EII–MM), developed by S. K. Mangal and Shubhra Mangal. It consists of 100 items under four scales .The analysis suggests that there is a significant relationship between Emotional Intelligence and Academic Achievement. IQ alone is no more the measure for success; emotional intelligence, social intelligence, and luck also play a big role in a person's success. This study contributes in acknowledging the fact that even engineering students’ academic achievements are attached with Emotional intelligence. Thus, teaching emotional and social skills only at the school level is not sufficient; this can be taught in engineering studies, as well for accomplishing high academic achievements.

Background: The development of the emotional intelligence of leaders has become an exceptionally popular enterprise. However, the empirical research conducted by practitioners to date does not provide convincing evidence of the effectiveness of emotional intelligence development interventions. Robust and informative research on the effectiveness of coaching to develop the emotional intelligence of leaders is lacking.Aim: The purpose of this study was to determine, describe and evaluate the impact of a theoretically substantiated coaching intervention on the emotional and social intelligence competencies of leaders in a financial services company.Setting: The setting of the study is a financial services company in South Africa.Methods: A mixed method approach using a quantitative and qualitative research design was considered appropriate. The quantitative research method consisted of a quasi-experimental design using a non-equivalent pre- and post test control group to measure the impact of the coaching intervention on a sample of 30 leaders. The Bar-On EQ-i scale was selected as a reliable and valid measure of emotional and social intelligence competencies. Wilcoxon’s statistic was calculated to determine the statistical significance of score differences between the experimental (N = 30) and control (N = 30) groups. The qualitative research method was comprised of semi-structured interviews with six of the leaders and their supervisors.Results: The statistical results indicated that coaching significantly impacted the emotional and social intelligence competencies of leaders in terms of their overall emotional quotient (EQ), intrapersonal competency, interpersonal skills, stress management, self-regard and empathy. The semi-structured interviews provided rich descriptive themes and evaluations that corroborated the quantitative findings.Conclusion: This research provided convincing empirical evidence of the positive impact of a long-term, spaced and goal-focused coaching intervention on the emotional and social intelligence competencies of leaders in a financial services institution. The finding suggests that a theoretically well substantiated coaching intervention and a robust empirical study can be effective in demonstrating the impact of coaching on the emotional and social intelligence competencies of leaders. However, the implications of the limitations pointed out in this study could have influenced the findings, and future research aimed at improving relevant research models should take these into account.
