The purpose of this paper is to identify factors and methods enhancing the quality of learning in a university setting. It is pointed out that an overcritical attitude towards learners’ incompetent public performance may cause anxiety and hinder their learning. However, group participation facilitates developing students’ self-expression and life skills. Traditional views on teaching are evaluated with regard to the latest pedagogical trends. The methodology of the paper relies on observation of the educational process, theoretical analysis of common and emerging frameworks for teaching English as a second language in a university setting, as well as synthesis, and generalization of research literature findings. The paper demonstrates how a traditional framework for teaching English as a second language can be modified to accommodate learners’ needs and investigates how innovative methods and technologies affect teaching of a foreign language and development of students’ foreign language competence. It is shown that lessons incorporating pre-communicative and communicative activities can be structured differently. The key to successful learning by a group of students is to take into consideration the quality of tasks and to present materials in a flexible manner to the learners. Our examples are based on fundamental principles, such as a variety of tasks, repetition and internationalization of the content. For warm-up or pre-communicative activities, we choose tasks preparing students for speaking and building their language competence. A number of “silent” activities enable learners to perform more or less simultaneously in order to lay the foundation for their internal language representation in an atmosphere free from anxiety and distraction. After completing exercises, students are expected to utilize previously learned grammar and vocabulary in their speech. In conclusion, we reiterate that successful learning takes place when external and internal factors are accounted for. Modern technologies are an effective extension of in-class learning for improving students’ pronunciation, enriching their vocabulary, and developing their speaking and writing skills.Key words: foreign and second language learning, principles of learning, approaches, technology-enhanced learning, the sequence of tasks.

The purpose of this study is to find why adult learners are unable to speak English as Foreign language (EFL) in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Moreover, it tests the pedagogy of adopting the strategy of Digital Story Telling (DST) in teaching English as a foreign language. The study is applied on Northern Boarder University as a case study. The first question raised in this study is whether the conventional methods of teaching are the reason behind their failure of speaking the English language and whether the modification in the pedagogy of teaching affects the learners' speaking skill. To this end, data are collected through a questionnaire. Furthermore, a model of a teaching program, based on using DST strategy, is improved and tested with a group of learners at the chosen university in Saudi Arabia. The findings reveal that the learners at the selected university find difficulty in speaking English, and that applying DST as a pedagogy help the students to develop their overall speaking skill. These findings assist EFL teachers in Saudi Arabia in creating a conducive atmosphere in and out their classes, which will motivate the learners a lot to speak English fluently. The conclusion of the research recommends that EFL teachers should modify their conventional methods of teaching English as a foreign language; they may apply the strategy of using DST on their students to test the competence of the hypothesis.

This review paper aims at giving a short outline regarding the examination of Teaching English Language instructing and teaching English Language as a Foreign Language (TEFL) between Indonesia and Singapore. The review based its analysis on a few elements which affect instructing and learning TEFL in the Indonesian context and Singapore, i.e., educator capabilities, teaching English language capability, homeroom size, understudies' inspiration, study hall situated learning, and restricted wellsprings of learning. The review highlighted that these are the factors which give impact on instructing and learning achievement. The review conducted its analysis under few limitations at work between language strategy and language encouraging study hall rehearsed in the two nations. This paper points out that understudies have different inspirations and foundation qualities altogether, making it hard to plan as an asset to a solitary educational program which will suit all (or at least most) understudies of the nation. Moreover, financial support for educators, resourcing, and the probability of huge class capacity in the Indonesian context appear differently in relation to Singapore. Low instructor compensations in Indonesia cause most educators to work in extra positions that lessen the time they can allot for exercise arrangement, endeavors to create practices and undertaking advancement by upgrading expert information, whereas instructors in Singapore are doing the full education time. Finally, the strategy and educational plan legislative issues have a significant impact on TEFL examination, thus understanding and correctly implementing them needs to be a requirement to language learning.

This article presents a detailed history of the development of a particular immersion program to teach English to young Polish students. The program draws support from two organizations, the Kościuszko Foundation and the Polish Scouting Organization. Kościuszko Foundation is dedicated to strengthening the ties between the United States and Poland as well as to increase knowledge of Poland’s history and culture in the United States. The cooperation of these two organizations developed an experience of immersion in language and cultural exchange. Both the teachers and the students in this program benefited from the opportunity to engage in a number of different types of language activities and cultural events through a summer camp experience. This program is, of course, unique, but the elements of context, culture and immersion could be used in other programs to develop English skills and knowledge in the context American culture.
