Nursing is a respect for dignity and treating every person equally. Qualifying competent and ethical nurses requires the incorporation of a professional code of ethics with clinical nursing practice. However, no study was conducted on the relationship between professional ethics and clinical nursing practice. Therefore this study aimed to determine correlation between professional ethics and pediatrics clinical practice from an achievement perspective. Accordingly, cross-sectional study design was conducted at Mizan-Tepi University using nursing students’ academic achievements at professional ethics and pediatric practice. Collected data were entered into Epi info 7. SPSS version 21.0 was used to calculate spearman’s rho correlation ( rs) and coefficient of determination ( R2) at P  < .05. A total of 316 study participants comprising of 209 (66.14%) male and 107 (33.86%) female nursing students included in the current study. Nursing students’ academic achievements at professional ethics was significantly and positively associated with achievements at pediatrics clinical practice ( rs  = 0.4-0.6), P < .001. Linear regression results revealed 25% to 26.7% coefficient determination for regular students and 18% to 22.9% for summer nursing students. To sum up, there was a significant positive association between achievements of students at professional ethics and pediatrics clinical practice. Therefore increasing students’ academic achievement in professional ethics can further improve their achievements at pediatrics clinical practice. However, academic achievement in professional ethics explained 22.35% of the variability in achievements at pediatric clinical practice. 77.65% of the variability in pediatrics clinical practice was due to other factors that deserve another study.

Introduction and Objective: Human anatomy is an essential component of the undergraduate nursing curriculum for learning the specific disciplines which deal with clinical practice. Anatomical knowledge provides assurance for the practice of clinical assessment and invasive procedures of legal competence of nurses.  The aim of the study was to analyze the correlation of the content taught in the discipline Human Anatomy with the clinical practice of undergraduate nursing students in the discipline Semiology and Semiotics in Nursing and The Care Process, as well as their assurance to start it.Methods: Quantitative descriptive study with the application of an online questionnaire to 66 undergraduate nursing students at a public education institution in the interior of São Paulo. Data analysis by number of occurrences and Chi-square test. Results: There was partial agreement about the interdisciplinarity between human anatomy and disciplines of clinical nursing practice. The students agreed to be partially assured about the procedures to start the semiological practice of different devices and to perform nursing procedures. The predominance of the superficial approach to content related to the clinical practice of the disciplines Semiology and Semiotics in Nursing and The Care Process was predominant. Conclusions: The teaching of human anatomy, along the lines offered, maintains an unsatisfactory correlation with clinical practice due to the students’ experience, interfering with learning, acting in clinical teaching and professional training.

AbstractAimTo analyze the Socio-emotional (SE) skills of the students in the Nursing Degree, and their relationship with their clinical practice in hospital centers.MethodsCross-sectional descriptive study of a sample of 91 nursing students. SE skills were analyzed through self-administered questionnaires, and the clinical practices through the instrument “Clinical Practices Evaluation Notebook”.FindingsThe students obtained medium and high scores in the SE skills and in the clinical practices. Most of the SE skills had a positive and statistically significant relationship (p < 0.05) between them. A relationship was observed between SE skills with performance in clinical practices, through a multiple linear regression.DiscussionIt is suggested that the development of the SE skills of the nursing students within the Nursing degree curriculum has an influence on their performance during their clinical practices.ConclusionThe SE skills are a potential predictor of the performance of the nursing students in clinical practices.

Background: Critical thinking concept is the important element in order delivery a quality nursing care. Learning process is designed using effective learning method to support critical thinking for students in the clinical practice environment. Concept mapping is a tool to enhance critical thinking for students by making connection between prior knowledge with new information in order to solve nursing problems. Objective: to know the effect concept mapping application in clinical learning towards quality of nursing documentation by nursing students in Profesi Ners level Karya Husada Semarang Health Science College who have clinical practice in maternity. Methode: Using quantitative research with only posttest design, with sampel were 30 nursing students in Profesi Ners level using total sampling. Data Analysis used Mann-whitney. Result: Intervention group had average grade higher was 22,90 than control grou was 8,10. Conclusion: There was effect of concept mapping in order delivery maternity nursing care for nursing students in Profesi Ners level.Key words: Concept mapping, Maternity nursing care

Background: Clinical judgment skills development of nursing professional is essential and vital during clinical education. This quasi experimental study hasevaluated the impact of standardizedIn-patient’s exposure on clinical judgment among under graduate nursing students using observational measures. Method: A single group of undergraduate students was recruited with purposive sampling at College of Nursing, Shalamar Hospital Lahore, Pakistan and Tanner’s clinical rubric model was used. A total 78 under graduate nursing students accomplished in five In-patients exposure within 45 clinical hours. Two Clinical Nursing Instructors were hired to evaluate the outcome of nursing students; clinical judgment at the end of each standardized in-patient exposure session. The inter-rater reliability ranged 0.830 to 0.90 for the session. Results: Clinical judgment outcome were improved from first in-patient exposure to last patient exposure compared with pre and post data of clinical judgement of patient second, third, fourth and fifth. The debriefing method was helpful for the undergraduate nursing students to improve their critical thinking. The undergraduate nursing students confessed that in-patient exposure has not only uplifted their clinical experience but also strengthened the critical thinking in emergency situation and improve the ability to notice, interpret, and respond suitably. The clinical nursing faculty also highlighted and valued the newly learned knowledge and commented that exposure of In-patients to under graduate nursing students is essential for clinical skills preparation. Conclusion: Standardized In-patient exposure has potential to support the undergraduate nursing student for the development of clinical judgement. No doubt, the clinical instructor has enhanced nursing professional’s intrinsic motivation but standardized in-patient presented a true picture, while learning to complete assessment skills.A difference may exist between high fidelity simulator and standardized in-patient exposure among undergraduate nursing students, so further research can explore this phenomenology.
