Politische Soziologie
Political sociology examines politics as a part of society. It poses the question of how political phenomena are related to other social structures and to what extent they are enabled and shaped by them. Political problems arise in all societies, but only in the course of societal development does a political system emerge that specialises in the preparation, legitimisation and implementation of collectively binding decisions. Despite its great importance for the self-description of modern society, politics must acknowledge that its influence is limited. The sociology of politics, the foundations of which are presented in the second edition of this book in a concise and easily understandable manner, provides the conceptual means with which to understand the historical development of politics and its position in modern society better.
