A novel high speed and ultra long-haul radio-over-fiber (ROF) system based on Dual Photoelectric Arms Coherent Modulation (DPACM) and Optical Duo-Binary Coding (ODBC) is proposed, and demonstrated. The signal spectrum bandwidth, generated by ODBC based on the first order DPACM, is half of non-return-to-zero (NRZ ) signal spectrum bandwidth. The secondary order DPACM generates a 40-GHz Millimeter-wave (mm-wave) that is transmitted over fiber (ROF). The simulation results show that, the bit rate can be up to 40 Gbps and the transmission distance is over 1500 Km, based on the ROF system with a 0 dBm continuous-wave laser source, multiple stages Er-Doped Fiber Amplifier (EDFA), a standard single mode fiber (SSMF) with a dispersion of 17 ps/nm/Km and a attenuation of 0.2 dB/Km.

AbstractAlgae are the main primary producers in aquatic environments and therefore of fundamental importance for the global ecosystem. Mid-infrared (IR) microspectroscopy is a non-invasive tool that allows in principle studying chemical composition on a single-cell level. For a long time, however, mid-infrared (IR) imaging of living algal cells in an aqueous environment has been a challenge due to the strong IR absorption of water. In this study, we employed multi-beam synchrotron radiation to measure time-resolved IR hyperspectral images of individual Thalassiosira weissflogii cells in water in the course of acclimation to an abrupt change of CO2 availability (from 390 to 5000 ppm and vice versa) over 75 min. We used a previously developed algorithm to correct sinusoidal interference fringes from IR hyperspectral imaging data. After preprocessing and fringe correction of the hyperspectral data, principal component analysis (PCA) was performed to assess the spatial distribution of organic pools within the algal cells. Through the analysis of 200,000 spectra, we were able to identify compositional modifications associated with CO2 treatment. PCA revealed changes in the carbohydrate pool (1200–950 cm$$^{-1}$$ - 1 ), lipids (1740, 2852, 2922 cm$$^{-1}$$ - 1 ), and nucleic acid (1160 and 1201 cm$$^{-1}$$ - 1 ) as the major response of exposure to elevated CO2 concentrations. Our results show a local metabolism response to this external perturbation.

Abstract Article clarified the optimum fiber amplifiers length for wide band fiber system applications. Optical suppressed carrier transceiver with various fiber amplifier lengths in long haul applications is simulated by using optisystem simulation program version 13. Max. Q coefficient and min. BER can be tested for various fiber amplifiers lengths from 5 to 30 m. The optimum performance efficiency is achieved with 5 m amplifier length which the max. Q coefficient is 62.5 and bits error rate is tended to zero. Peak power amplitude level, noise signal power level, noise signal amplitude level (NSAL) and peak signal amplitude level after channel with a 45 km length for optimum fiber optic amplifier length of 5 m are measured.

AbstractThis study presents high speed optical switching gain based Erbium doped fiber amplifier model. By using the proposed model the optical fiber loss can be minimized. The system is stabilized with the power budget of 25.875 mW a long 75 km as a length of optical fiber in this study can be verified. The modulation rate of 10 Gb/s can be upgrade up to reach 30 Gb/s. The suitable power for the optical transmitter is −2.440 dBm and NRZ modulation code is verified. The receiver sensitivity can be upgraded with the minimum bit error rate and max Q factor are 1.806 e−009 and 5.899.
