Elimination of Acid Red 88 by Waste Product from the Phosphate Industry: Batch Design and Regeneration

Waste regenerated after washing of rock phosphate and phosphogypsum has been proposed as removal agents of Acid Red 88 (AR 88)) from artificially contaminated solution. Natural phosphate (PN) was also studied for comparison. These materials were characterized beforehand, as is intended for the removal tests, by chemical analysis, powder X-ray diffraction, Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy, thermogravimetric analysis– differential thermal analysis, scanning electron microscopy, and N2 adsorption isotherms. The conducted experiments show that among the different materials, the PWR has the highest retention capacity of the dye (123.4 mg g−1) of AR-88. Upon calcinations, the removal capacities reduced by 60 to 70%. We take note also that a decrease in the amount of removed AR 88 dye occurs with an increase in pH. The kinetics data on the reaction between AR 88 and the materials are described well by a pseudo -second-order model. The Langmuir model is successfully applied to the experimental data of the removal of acid red 88. The removal process is exothermic.

Sebuah penelitian tentang sistem dispersi padat dari asiklovir dengan poloxamer 188 telah dilakukan formulasi dengan pencampuran secara fisika dengan rasio 1 : 1, 1 : 3, 1 : 5 dan dispersi padat 1 : 1, 1 : 3, 1 : 5 dan penggilingan 1:1 sebagai pembanding. Dispersi padat dibuat menggunakan metode pencairan (fusi), yang digabung dengan poloxamer 188 pada hotplate kemudian asiklovir dimasukkan ke dalam hasil poloxamer 188 lalu di kocok hingga membentuk masa homogen. Semua formula yang terbentuk termasuk asiklovir poloxamer 188 murni dianalisis karakterisasinya dengan Differential Thermal Analysis (DTA), X-ray Diffraction, Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), dan Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR), kemudian pengambilan dilakukan  (penentuan kadar) mengunakan spektrofotometer UV pada panjang gelombang 257,08 nm dan uji laju disolusi dengan aquadest bebas CO2 menggunakan metode dayung. Hasil pengambilan  (penentuan kadar) menunjukkan bahwa semua formula memenuhi persyaratan farmakope Amerika edisi 30 dan farmakope Indonesia edisi 4 yaitu 95-110%. Sedangkan hasil uji laju disolusi untuk campuran fisik 1: 1, dan dispersi padat 1: 1, dan penggilingan 1: 1 menunjukkan peningkatan yang nyata dibandingkan asiklovir murni. Hal ini juga dapat dilihat dari hasil perhitungan statistik  menggunakan analisis varian satu arah  SPSS 17.

The reaction mechanisms observed when sintering loose Cr2O3–CaF2 powder mixtures were analyzed, and the influence of the sintering parameters on the reaction behavior is presented. Using x-ray diffraction (XRD), energy-dispersive spectroscopy (EDS), and differential thermal analysis (DTA) measurements, CaCrO4 was shown to be the reaction product when sintering in air. The reaction occurs in two steps: CaF2 transforms to CaO at the Cr2O3–CaF2 interface, followed by a CaO–Cr2O3 interaction, which creates the reaction product. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and x-ray fluorescence (XRF) analysis showed an increasing loss of CaF2 with increasing sintering temperature and heating rate, while an opposite evolution of the amount of reaction product was observed.

Copper ferrite powders were successfully synthesized by sonochemical method. The resultant powders were investigated by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), FT-IR, differential thermal analysis-thermal gravimetric (DTA-TG), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and VSM. The particle saturation magnetization (Ms) is 66 emu/g and an intrinsic coercive force (iHc) is 2100 Oe when the precursor calcined at 950 °C for 15 h.

The main objective of this paper was to investigate the addition of iron tailing sintering brick production, in the presence of clay, coal refuses and bentonite. Mixtures containing raw materials of sintering brick and iron tailings were prepared at different proportions (up to 55 wt %), fired at 980°C. Freeze/thaw durability, drying and firing shrinkages were investigated as well as the loss on ignition, bulk density and compressive strength of the fired samples. Their mechanical and microstructure properties were also investigated by differential thermal analysis (DTA/TG), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and X-ray diffraction (XRD). The results showed that compressive strengths of the brick samples are higher than that required by the standards MU15 of GB5101-2003, up to 21.79Mpa with 40% iron tailings corresponding to its higher bulk density completely. Moreover, the results showed that it has such advantages as no lime blowing, uniform color, good freeze/thaw resistance and slight universal frost.

This work was aimed at studying the tribological properties of nanolamellar tungsten and molybdenum disulfides produced from nanosized W and Mo nanopowders by self-propagating high-temperature synthesis. The prepared WS2and MoS2powders were examined by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), and differential thermal analysis (DTA). For tribological tests, oil-based lubricants added with nanolamellar tungsten and molybdenum disulfides were prepared. The tribological tests show that the friction coefficient of the nanolamellar powders is lower than that of commercial powder(μmin=0.024and 0.064, resp.). It is also found that the oil-based lubricants with nanolamellar disulfide additives display higher antifriction and antiwear properties compared to commercial powder.
