<p>With the development of the society and the progress of the time, the pace of China's education reform is more and more steady. The development of the education system is gradually perfect. Music teaching is an indispensable part of the teaching system of colleges and universities, which has a positive impact on the improvement of students' music literacy. However, due to the interference of various factors, the national music culture has not been well inherited and developed, leading to the increasingly westernized development of music in China. This paper analyzes and discusses the relationship between university music teaching and national culture in detail, and puts forward a series of strategies and programs that are conducive to the inheritance of national music culture, which plays a role of reference and reference for university music teaching.</p>

One of the outcomes of the National Music Administrators' Conference held in Brisbane, Australia, in 1980 was a ‘Rationale for Music Education’ in Australian schools. This paper uses this Rationale as a stimulus for the discussion of the role of music in the curriculum. The issues raised here are neither new nor distinctively Australian. However, an attempt has been made to evaluate critically what Eisner would categorise as the ‘contexturalist’ and ‘essentialist’ justification for music in education. In an age of accountability and timetable restraints, teachers and administrators must explain their curricula to different audiences. Therefore, the ability to justify music in the curriculum must become part of the teacher's professional equipment.

The main objective of this research was to define the potential of Ukrainian popular music as a means of national identity formation on the commercial radio. The methodology of the research included an analysis of scientific data about the main problem of the study to define its conception; a comparative analysis aimed to characterize the Ukrainian and European legislation in media, especially the effective means of supporting national music; interpretation of sociological data allowed to define the role of the radio in the process of national identity formation; monitoring of commercial radio stations uncovered the efficacy of their musical policies. The main conclusions of the study indicate that the Ukrainian radio listeners mainly underestimate the role of domestic culture and music for the process of national identity. It is peculiar to the post totalitarian societies. The attitude of the Ukrainians to the national culture, particularly to music, depends on the attitude to Ukrainian language. The sociolinguistic data demonstrate the correlation between a positive attitude to Ukrainian language and the same attitude to the national culture. People who speak Ukrainian have a higher interest to the national culture and music than people who speak Russian. The monitoring has uncovered that the music in Russian language considerable prevails on the Ukrainian commercial radio stations, but the demand for Ukrainian music is very high. The owners of the Ukrainian media holdings opposed the attempt of the state to increase the quota of national music on the radio, especially in Ukrainian language. At the same time, active communities and Ukrainian musicians continue to defend the right of the Ukrainians to use domestic music in the process of national identity formation.

This article examines on the role of Lokananta in disseminating Javanese performing arts of Surakarta during 1956-1990. It is focused on records production either in vinyl or tape cassettes and its distribution. This article composed using historical method and utilize wide range of historical sources, such as archives, newspapers, vinyl and cassette covers, articles, books, and oral history. The results showed that during 1957-1971, Lokananta has produced vinyl records which were classified into National Music, Regional Entertainment, and Regional Theatre Music. In that period, Lokananta production was dominated by recording of National Music and Music-Theatre of Central Java. During 1971-1985 Lokananta produced many music and theatre records of Central Java printed into cassette tape. In 1985-1990’s, Lokananta produced and made reproduction on cassette recordings. Quantitatively, production and reproduction recording number has drastically decreased compared to the previous period. Records vinyl and tape cassettes sale, as well as the distribution via Radio Republik Indonesia and private broadcasts, proved that Lokananta has been instrumental in disseminating Javanese performing arts of Surakarta.

This article discusses the role of Radio Republik Indonesia (RRI, The Radio of Republic of Indonesia) Surakarta in the period 1945-1960s. In that period RRI Surakarta had two roles in the context of decolonization. In the period 1945-1949, RRI Surakarta had a role in the effort to maintain the independence of Indonesia. The RRI Surakarta employees struggled to maintain the existence of RRI Surakarta with rescuing the station and transmitter so that the struggle of the Indonesian nation in defending the independence of Indonesia could be broadcasted to various parts. In the period 1950-1960s RRI Surakarta participated in efforts to the formation a national culture. When the discourse of national culture continued to be discussed by the elite of Indonesia, the Bureau of the Radio of the Republic of Indonesia had the establishment and set choice of ways to build a national culture since 1950. In this connection, RRI should be directed to build a national culture. Based on the policy of the Bureau of Radio of the Republic of Indonesia, RRI Surakarta realized that idea by organizing Javanese art broadcasts (gamelan, wayang wong, kethoprak, and shadow puppets), “local entertainment” and national music, and organizing Radio Star Competition. RRI Surakarta Radio Star made an important role in the creation of popular music in Indonesia.

Education and cultural inheritance bring out the best in each other. Music education in school is an important means to promote national music culture. Music college is the main position of national music culture, so this paper focuses on discussing the significance and role of promoting national music culture in university music education and puts forward specific implementation methods and means.</p>

AbstractWhitehouse adapts insights from evolutionary anthropology to interpret extreme self-sacrifice through the concept of identity fusion. The model neglects the role of normative systems in shaping behaviors, especially in relation to violent extremism. In peaceful groups, increasing fusion will actually decrease extremism. Groups collectively appraise threats and opportunities, actively debate action options, and rarely choose violence toward self or others.
