PurposeThrough a two-stage survey, this paper examines how researchers judge the quality of answers on ResearchGate Q&A, an academic social networking site.Design/methodology/approachIn the first-stage survey, 15 researchers from Library and Information Science (LIS) judged the quality of 157 answers to 15 questions and reported the criteria that they had used. The content of their reports was analyzed, and the results were merged with relevant criteria from the literature to form the second-stage survey questionnaire. This questionnaire was then completed by researchers recognized as accomplished at identifying high-quality LIS answers on ResearchGate Q&A.FindingsMost of the identified quality criteria for academic answers—such as relevance, completeness, and verifiability—have previously been found applicable to generic answers. The authors also found other criteria, such as comprehensiveness, the answerer's scholarship, and value-added. Providing opinions was found to be the most important criterion, followed by completeness and value-added.Originality/valueThe findings here show the importance of studying the quality of answers on academic social Q&A platforms and reveal unique considerations for the design of such systems.

Supervision is not just a mere supervision, especially if it's just to find fault. Supervision starts from planning, implementing, reporting and finally follow up from the results of supervision. This research was conducted to analyze the Follow-up of Supervision Results conducted by the Regional Inspectorate of Indramayu Regency. Follow-up to Supervision Results are reviewed from the APIP policy aspects of the implementation of completion of Oversight Results Follow-up, audited responses to audit findings, causes of audit findings, audited responses to delays in Follow-up Monitoring Results. More in this study wants to examine the steps of policy makers in completing the findings of the Audit Results Report. The Examination Result Report contains findings, conditions, causes, consequences and recommendations for recommendations that must be followed up by the Regional Work Unit (SKPD) which is examined to correct errors in the implementation of the administration of the general government and government implementation affairs that occur in the SKPD examined. The follow-up itself aims to improve and improve the quality of good and clean governanceFactors that cause low or not yet achieved completion of follow-up include lack of leadership commitment or change of leadership in the work unit / work unit, so that new leaders are less concerned about the follow-up of the results of supervision because they feel it is not their responsibility. The cause of the findings (disobedience to the legislation and the weakness of the internal control system) and the delay in following up on the findings of the examination include internal factors and external factors. Internal factors include leadership and subordinate human resources, lack of subordinate human resource capabilities and leadership managerial abilities. An external factor is the third party's lack of discipline regarding the findings of the examination and the existence of social problems in the community. In order to resolve the follow-up to the audit results, it is necessary to conduct direct monitoring efforts, namely by reviewing directly to the audited work unit / work unit accompanied by a value test of the findings of the audit completed with the Follow-Up Update Minutes. While the indirect update is carried out based on a value test of supporting documents / evidence submitted by the work unit / work unit as a follow-up to the auditor's recommendations.

Background: Effects presented on the use of assistive devices such as prosthesis are often based on laboratory findings (i.e. efficacy). Objectives: To summarise and evaluate findings from studies on effectiveness of lower limb prostheses for adults in real life contexts, primarily in terms of activity, participation, and quality of life (QoL) and secondarily in terms of user satisfaction, use/non-use, and/or cost-effectiveness. Study Design: Systematic review. Methods: We included controlled studies and non-controlled follow-up studies including both baseline and follow-up data. Using 14 different databases supplemented with manual searches, we searched for studies published from 1998 until June 2009. Results: Out of an initial 818 identified publications, eight met the inclusion criteria. Four studies reported on the effectiveness of a microprocessor-controlled knee (MP-knee) compared to a non-microprocessor-controlled knee (NMP-knee). Results were inconsistent except for quality of life and use/non-use, where the authors reported an improvement with the MP-knee compared to the NMP-knee. The remaining four studies included a diversity of prosthetic intervention measures and types of endpoints. Conclusions: Overall, there was an inconsistency in results and study quality. This review highlights the need for high-quality research studies that reflect the effectiveness of different prosthesis interventions in terms of users’ daily living and QoL. Clinical relevance Clinical guidelines are important to every practitioner. Information on expected effectiveness from assistive devices should be well founded and contain both facts about the device quality and its contribution to users’ daily lives. Thus, studies based on users’ experiences from prosthetic use in everyday life activities are of great importance.

The use of organic fertilizers in agricultural production can not only increase soil fertility but also at the same time improve soil quality. Organic fertilizer is a unique product because it can improve physical properties, chemical, and biological soil as plant growth media. These characteristics bring the organic fertilizers into a valuable product that can be used in a variety of use. Today in Indonesia, there are so many outstanding varieties of organic fertilizer products either refined or imported products. Monitoring of the quality and feasibility of organic fertilizer materials is needed, so they will not harm the farmers as consumers. Each country develops criteria standard of organic fertilizer valuing each country's interest. United States, Canada, Australia and Europe use different compost quality criteria tailored to the needs and environmental rules that apply. So far in Indonesia rules used in determining quality is Permentan No. 02/Pert/HK.060/2/2006 which was then updated with Permentan No.28/PERMENTAN/OT.140/2/2009 on Organic Fertilizers and Soil Ameliorant. Basically, the appraisal made on the maturity and quality of organic fertilizers is based on observation of physical, chemical, and biological parameters. Review of the criteria used in the Regulation of the Minister of Agriculture was necessary in considering the criteria used which are very harmful to consumers, such as if it is satated that C-organic content is approximately 12%, which is low, it means that there might exist some follow-up materials such as glass, plastic in the fertilizer about 2%. If the rules are maintained, it will be very detrimental to Indonesia because of invasion from over seas. Import organic fertilizers would be siege to Indonesian farmers. Permentan No.28/PERMENTAN/SR.130/5/2009 has also set up institutions in charge of monitoring the quality of organic fertilizers. However, the quality control must be carried out. It is not only at the level of the end product, but it must also begin from the moment of the production process by establishing a supervisory agency competent. Since organic fertilizers can be produced by large industries, small and medium-scale farmers, the level of supervision is needed with different approaches. Keywords: organic fertilizer, quality, processes and controls

To determine the level of success and effectiveness of MOOC in the learning system, it is important to measure the quality of service. The aim of this study is to measure the perceptions and expectations of MOOC users. The method of this study is the SERVQUAL model which is combined with a fuzzy approach, so that it can be measured accurately. From the calculation, the results show that Reliability dimension has the largest gap with a gap value (-13,2325), so there are needed an improvement by the university. While Assurance dimension has the smallest gap with a value of gap (-10,0025) this is considered by the user to be a better dimension than the others. From the calculation of the overall gap value obtained, the result shows a value of -57.65, which means that the quality of service received by users is not in line with expectations.

Although continued investments in nanotechnology are made, atomically precise manufacturing (APM) to date is still regarded as speculative technology. APM, also known as molecular manufacturing, is a token example of a converging technology, has great potential to impact and be affected by other emerging technologies, such as artificial intelligence, biotechnology, and ICT. The development of APM thus can have drastic global impacts depending on how it is designed and used. This article argues that the ethical issues that arise from APM - as both a standalone technology or as a converging one - affects the roles of stakeholders in such a way as to warrant an alternate means furthering responsible innovation in APM research. This article introduces a value-based design methodology called value sensitive design (VSD) that may serve as a suitable framework to adequately cater to the values of stakeholders. Ultimately, it is concluded that VSD is a strong candidate framework for addressing the moral concerns of stakeholders during the preliminary stages of technological development.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to evaluate a previously developed framework for creating so-called high performance partnerships (HPPs), which yields a competitive advantage for all firms in the partnership, in the Asian context. Design/methodology/approach The HPP framework is evaluated for a Philippine organization that produces, markets and ships bananas in Asia. The evaluation entailed conducting a questionnaire, statistically redeveloping the framework and organizing several feedback workshops with the partner firms, the latter aiming to discuss and agree to improvements that each partner could implement to achieve high performance in the value chain. Findings The results showed that the evaluated HPP framework can be used to score the quality of each partner in the chain and to yield targeted recommendations to improve the performance of each partner firm. The subsequent application of the recommendations derived from applying the HPP framework created substantial profits for the partner firms. Originality/value Originally developed in a western context and applied to a value chain of European organizations, the HPP framework was successfully applied for the first time in the Asian context, to evaluate the performance of an Asian value chain and identify areas for improvement of the Asian partner firms. As such, the results contribute both to the HPP literature, filling a gap therein, and to practice, as Asian organizations can use with confidence a framework which has been validated in their context.

PurposeAfter the identification of a novel severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) at Wuhan, China, a pandemic was widely spread worldwide. In Italy, about 240,000 people were infected because of this virus including 34,721 deaths until the end of June 2020. To control this new pandemic, epidemiologists recommend the enforcement of serious mitigation measures like country lockdown, contact tracing or testing, social distancing and self-isolation.Design/methodology/approachThis paper presents the most popular epidemic model of susceptible (S), exposed (E), infected (I) and recovered (R) collectively called SEIR to understand the virus spreading among the Italian population.FindingsDeveloped SEIR model explains the infection growth across Italy and presents epidemic rates after and before country lockdown. The results demonstrated that follow-up of strict measures such that country lockdown along with high testing is making Italy practically a pandemic-free country.Originality/valueThese models largely help to estimate and understand how an infectious agent spreads in a particular country and how individual factors can affect the dynamics. Further studies like classical SEIR modeling can improve the quality of data and implementation of this modeling could represent a novelty of epidemic models.
