PURPOSE: The purpose of this study was to conduct a comparative analysis of knowledge management (KM) initiatives in small, medium, and large enterprises operating in Ukraine, and to highlight the specific characteristics of KM policies, as well as the scope and intensity of KM tools application in these categories. In particular, the study focused on the consistency between the awareness of knowledge/KM importance and KM policies, and the scope and intensity of the application of both human-centered tools and information communication technology (ICT) tools. METHODOLOGY: The concept of the study was developed on the basis of an integrative socio-technical perspective. The empirical data were obtained through a questionnaire survey among 90 managers of small, medium, and large Ukrainian enterprises and were analyzed statistically. FINDINGS: Both common and distinctive characteristics of these categories in terms of KM were highlighted. Although all enterprises, regardless of their size, showed a high awareness of knowledge/KM importance for their business, significant distinctions between small and large enterprises were found with regard to their KM policies, the scope of advanced KM tools application, and the intensity of some traditional and advanced KM tools application. In all cases, large enterprises showed higher levels of these characteristics compared to small enterprises, whereas medium enterprises were more similar to large enterprises. In contrast to the common view on SMEs as a homogeneous sector in terms of KM, the study shows its heterogeneity in terms of KM initiatives. According to a number of indicators studied, significant differences were observed between small and large enterprises, whereas the distinctions between medium and large enterprises were much less obvious. IMPLICATIONS FOR THEORY AND PRACTICE: The theoretical contribution of this study was the provision of SMEs sector heterogeneity evidence based on a number of KМ characteristics. This finding allows us to deepen our knowledge of conceptual differences in KM approaches, applied by different enterprise categories. From a practical perspective, an enterprise size should be taken into account while designing specific KM policies, programs and tools to meet enterprises’ needs to a greater extent. The larger the enterprise is, the more structured, deliberate, and conscious the KM approach that should be applied is. ORIGINALITY AND VALUE: No empirical research that addresses the comparative analysis of KM initiatives in small, medium, and large enterprises operating in Ukraine, as well as in other transition economies of post-Soviet states, has been previously performed, and this study fills the gap.

The chapter aims to explore the dynamics of knowledge management (KM) in terms of information and communication technologies (ICT) and KM tools in higher education institutions (HEIs). The various KM and ICT tools and their applicability are discussed in detail in two public universities in Delhi, India. The chapter is the result of the literature review pertaining to the changing educational ecosystem. A comprehensive review of peer-reviewed journal articles, books, and research papers has been carried out in the area of KM, ICT tools, and education. Forty-six KM tools extracted from four KM toolkits, and 12 ICT tools were tested. A survey with the 542 students, 112 faculty, and 48 administrators was conducted (separate for each category). The findings reveal that some of the ICT and KM tools have a significant presence in universities. These tools have not only enhanced knowledge sharing but also intensified the learning experience of the users.

Knowledge Management as a new branch of modern pedagogy, education management and economics education covers a wide range of issues of management theory and practice of educational psychology and economic theory. The development of knowledge management is closely linked to e-learning. E-learning tool is included in the device management knowledge, which is widely used in businesses and schools to spread knowledge. The article examines trends in knowledge management e-learning. The analysis of knowledge management models was the basis for determining of their adapted phases for e-learning. Technologies and knowledge management tools are considered in accordance with their belonging to one of the four processes of knowledge transformation. The principles (when creating a repository), methods and levels of knowledge management in e-learning are singled out.

Esta investigación aborda la problemáticaplanteada en la formación de profesores para la Carrera de Informática y asume como problemacientífico: “¿Cómo contribuir al desarrollo de una cultura científica como base para una participaciónciudadana responsable, en la formación inicial del profesor para la ETP en la Carrera Informática?”. La metodología utilizada constituye una integración de métodos teóricos y empíricos, lo que permitióla elaboración de la propuesta. Se trabajan y sustentan los antecedentes teóricos y metodológicos delproceso de formación inicial del profesor para la Educación Técnica y Profesional. Finalmente, se brindan los resultados de la aplicación de la consulta a expertos como comprobación teórica del mismo ysu aplicación parcial en la práctica. El fundamento teórico y las relaciones sistemáticas que se establecenentre los componentes, constituyen el principal aporte teórico y novedad de la investigación.   Palabras Clave: participación ciudadana, cultura científica, formación inicial, educación técnica y profesional.   ABSTRACT   The basic formation of teachers in Technical and Professional Education (TPE) must be in correspondencewith the integration of scientific development, the accelerated development of science and technology, and the educational demands of the new generations.  This research addresses the stated problem in the formation of teachers for the Informatics Career and assumes the scientific problem: How to contribute to thedevelopment of a scientific culture as the basis of a responsible citizen participation, in the initial formation of the ETP teacher in the Informatics Career? The methodology used integrates both theoretical and empiricalmethods which helped to build up this proposal.  Historical and methodological background of the formation process are worked out and supported.  Finally, results of the application of expert consulting as averification in theory and practice. Despite numerous studies dedicated to business and entrepreneurship education, there is a lack of research dedicated to students studying creativity in entrepreneurial and business-related disciplines through knowledge management tools and practices. The objectives of the study were to determine the key factors of creative motivation for entrepreneurship among students, to build an appropriate universal practical model of learner creativeness motivation, and to create a knowledge management concept based on this model. By way of comparative, descriptive, qualitative, and quantitative analysis methods, we investigated previous research in the field of motivation, educational approaches, and methodologies, together with the data of the Program for International Student Assessment of the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development. In order to compare international experience of knowledge management in modern approaches to education, we analyzed the curricular of business and entrepreneurship programs in three higher education entities from different countries: the Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration, KIMEP University, and Al Ain University. As a result of the research, we developed knowledge management that can be used for the learner creativity and motivation model. Recommendations developed in the course of the study would allow for the ability to make business and entrepreneurship education more sustainable.

The extraordinary development of the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) allows for innovative relationships among enterprises, organised in extended networks and regardless of their location. In this scenario, Large Enterprises can re-organise their traditional supply chains (generally formed by Small and Medium Enterprises) according to VIrtual Vertical Enterprise concepts and methodology, in order to obtain: (1) better control of subcontractors activities; (2) cost and delivery time reduction; (3) decrease of subcontractors number.

To date, very few publications have been found that describe how small and medium enterprises (SMEs) are adopting knowledge management (KM). The same is true concerning attempts to develop a framework to help them implement it. To redress this, this paper presents the results of four case studies conducted in UK SMEs to examine their KM implementation effort. In addition, a new integrated framework developed by the authors was evaluated to determine its applicability in this business sector. The methodology employed to conduct the studies is described and each of the cases is then presented. The results are analysed and key lessons or findings gathered from the companies are highlighted. Comments received from the companies with respect to the integrated framework were positive and favourable. It is hoped that the information accrued from the case studies, together with the integrated framework, will help to pave the way for SMEs to accomplish KM.

This article discusses knowledge management system design for SSNFPOs. The transfer of best practice knowledge management to SSNFPOs is not easy. SSNFPOs have different strategies and ways of doing business compared to ‘for-profit' organisations. Sector reforms in disability services, aged care, and child services in Australia threaten to disrupt social value as new for-profit rivals enter and pursue economic value. In response, the case study organisation (CSO) has been working with the research team to consider how knowledge management might help it become a stronger organisation and ensure its survival and growth in the reformed sector. The research was informed by discussions involving the CSO's management and the research team over an 18 month period. A general framework for designing knowledge management for SSNFPOs was developed. It involves six theoretical platforms, along with problems associated with theory and practice, how knowledge management may address these problems, and measures of impact.

This article studies how Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) operating in emerging economies implement adaptative strategies to respond to constant changes in demand and global uncertainties, such as those stemming from the current SARS-COV2 pandemic. In this study the knowledge management capabilities used by SMEs in the craft beer sector in a region of northern Mexico are the focus of analysis. The objective is to present the competitive capabilities that craft beer sector has demonstrated in Baja California region and how small companies compete with the national industrial brewery and survive. Sources are data from a sample of companies and interviews with brewery owners, with which the analysis approaches, also, the Baja California business environment. The article highlights the routes of creativity, innovation, and symbolic capital of the companies in the region, and uses ideas from dynamic capabilities and knowledge management theoretical frameworks, to understand the craft brewery milieu. The conclusions in this article include the confirmation about the usefulness of these analytical frameworks based in the capabilities approach and the territorial knowledge. Also, the description of the existence of a complex Baja Californian milieu, where a multimodal scheme of craft beer characterized by different places of distribution and types of beer container, food-districts, at Mexicali, Tijuana, and Ensenada and a second generation of entrepreneur groups leading local business, is identified.
