A Field experiment was conducted on effect of various levels of potassium application on soil potassium fractions and sugarcane yield at Regional Agricultural research station, Anakapalle, Andhra Pradesh. The experiment comprised six treatments and four replications in Randomized Block Design. The treatments comprised of T1:Control (0 K), T2:50% Recommended dose of Potassium (60 kg K/ha),T3:75% Recommended dose of Potassium (90 kg K/ha),T4:100% Recommended dose of Potassium (120 kg K/ha),T5:125% Recommended dose of Potassium (150 kg K/ha) and T6:150% Recommended dose of Potassium (180 kg K/ha). Results revealed that number of milliable cane, cane yield (t/ha) and sugar yield (t/ha) was found to be significantly high with treatment receiving 150% recommended dose of fertilizers (79855, 82.12 t/ha and 12.04 t/ha respectively), however, it was statistically on par with the treatments receiving  125% recommended dose of potassium fertilizers(79855,82.12 t/ha and 12.04 t/ha respectively) and 100% recommended dose of potassium fertilizers application (79315,81.86 t/ha and 11.57 t/ha respectively). Increasing levels of K significantly increased all the K fractions. However, highest value of water soluble K (29.5 mg kg-1 at 0-15 cm depth and 31.6 mg kg-1 at 15-30 cm ) exchangeable K (205 mg kg-1 at 0-15 cm depth and 228 mg kg-1 at 15-30 cm depth) non-exchangeable K (854 mg kg-1 at 0-15 cm depth and 971 mg kg-1 at 15-30 cm depth), lattice K (2110and 2381 mg kg-1 at 0-15 and 15-30 cm ) and total K (3267 and 3718 mg kg-1) were recorded with the application of with the application of 150% recommended dose of potassium application (180 kg ha-1) followed by application of 125% recommended dose of potassium application (150 kg ha-1) . The sequential order of dominance of different fractions of K were lattice K>nonexchangeable K> exchangeable K and water soluble K. The per cent contribution of different fractions of K to total K were followed in the order of lattice K (64.02 to 74.94% at 0-15 and 15-30 cm depth), non-exchangeabl K (15.46 to 17.79% at 0-15 and 26.4 to 27.43 % 15-30 cm depth), exchangeable K (6.32 to 8.39% and 5.60 to 7.69% at 0-15 and 15-30 cm depth), and water soluble K (0.81-0.90% and 0.69 to 0.85% at 0-15 and 15-30 cm depth) There exists positive and significant correlation among various K fractions indicating dynamic equilibrium.

Field studies were carried out in 2014-15 rabi season and 2015 kharif season at central farm of OUAT, Odisha, India to evaluate different fractions of potassium at different soil depth at different stages of rice crop. The experiment was laid out in randomized block design with 12 treatments and 4 replications. The study revealed that water soluble K, exchangeable K and non exchangeable K content was highest in 100%NPK+FYM+Lime.Watersoluble K decreased from tillering to harvesting for all the treatments in both the seasons. Exchangeable K decreased in rabi season but increased in kharif season through the stages of growth. Non exchangeable K increased from tillering to harvesting in both seasons. Lime application has increased three forms of potassium over 100%NPK treatment. There was decrease in potassium content with depth. Potassium content in kharif season is less than rabi. The correlation between grain yield is highest with non exchangeable K in rabi and exchangeable K in kharif. The K uptake is best correlated with non exchangeable K in rabi and water soluble K in kharif season.

Nanoscience coupled with nanotechnology emerged as possible cost-cutting approach to prodigal farming and environmental clean-up operations. Hence there is a need for a more innovative fertilizer approach that can increase the productivity of agricultural systems and more environmental friendly than synthetic fertilizers. The trial was laid out in randomized complete block design with 11 treatments in three replications. The field experiment was carried out at Main Agricultural Research Station, University of Agricultural Sciences, Raichur during Kharif seasons of 2019 and 2020. In this research, we studied the recent development and potential benefits derived from the use of nanofertilizers (NFs) in modern agriculture. Nanofertilizers facilitate slow and steady release of nutrients, thereby reduce the loss of nutrients and enhance the nutrient use efficiency. In the present study, the nanofertilizers such as IFFCO nanonitrogen (nano N), IFFCO nanocopper (nano Cu), IFFCO nanozinc (nano Zn) and IFFCO sagarika were sprayed to the maize crop in different combinations with recommended dose of fertilizers. Among the different combinations of nanofertilizers with recommended dose of fertilizers the treatment T11 [50% N, 100% PK, 0% Zinc + 2 sprays of IFFCO nano N (4ml/l) mixed with IFFCO Sagarika (2 ml/l)] showed significant effect on the growth and yield parameters with maximum yield of 58.90 q/ha and highest B:C of 2.99. Whereas, treatment T10 [50% N, 100% PK, 0% Zinc + 2 sprays of IFFCO nano N (4ml/l) mixed with nano Zn (2 ml/l) and IFFCO nano Cu (2ml/l)] was found superior with regard to management of Turcicum leaf blight disease with minimum of 18.20 per cent severity.

A field experiment was conducted at Main Agricultural Research Station (MARS), University of Agricultural Sciences, Dharwad, to know the effect of water soluble fertilizers on growth, yield and oil content of groundnut (Cv TAG 24).  The experiment was conducted in a Vertisol with ten treatment combinations consisting of FYM and different doses of recommended NPK as basal soil application and foliar spray of water soluble fertilizers at 30, 45 and 60 days after sowing in a Randomized complete block design with three replications. Application of FYM + 100% RDF + foliar spray of fertilizers at 30, 45 and 60 DAS showed higher pod yield (5615 kg/ha) which was 22% higher over application of 100% RDF alone (4601 kg/ha). But the crop was equally responsive in increasing the pod yield, when RDF was reduced by 15% along with foliar application of water soluble grade fertilizer. The yield components, kernel yield (3892 kg/ha), haulm yield (8916 kg/ha), total number of pods plant-1 (33.80), =sound mature kernels (88.67) and oil yield (1858 kg/ha) were highest in the treatment of FYM + 100% RDF + foliar spray of fertilizers over rest of the treatments. But the highest Benefit cost ratio (4.40) was found in the treatment of FYM + 85% RDF + foliar application of fertilizers followed by the treatment of FYM + 100% RDF + foliar application of fertilizers (4.36) whereas the lowest B: C ratio (3.91) was observed in control.

A field trial was conducted during two consecutive summer seasons of2012 and 2013 at ICAR-Central Potato Research Station, Shillong, Meghalaya to evaluate the integration of nutrient sources on productivity and soil health under rainfed potato cultivation in north eastern hill region of India. There were six treatments of integrated nutrient management viz., 100% Recommended dose of fertilizers,75% RDF through synthetic fertilizers and 25% recommended dose of nitrogen (RDN) through FYM, 50% RDF and 50% RDN through FYM, 25% RDF and 75% RDN through FYM, 100% RDN through FYM and control (no application of any sources of nutrients). The experiment was laid out in randomized block design with four replications. Nutrient management practices showed the significant improvement on growth and yield attributes of potato over control plot. Highest productivity of potato tubers (t/ha) was noticed with application of 75% RDF through synthetic fertilizers along with 25% RDN through FYM. Similarly, the maximum net return was associated with application of 75% RDF and 25% RDN through FYM under investigation. Application of 75% Recommended dose of nutrients through synthetic fertilizers in combination with 25% Recommended dose of nitrogen through FYM was more profitable for sustainable production of potato in the north eastern hill region of India.

Abstract In order to evaluate the effects of some cover crops on extinction coefficient and weed cover percentage in sunflower, a field experiment was conducted based on a randomized complete block design with nine treatments and three replicates at the Agricultural Research Station, Tabriz University of Iran, during growing season 2012-2013. Treatments were triticale, hairy vetch, rapeseed, triticale + hairy vetch, triticale + rapeseed, hairy vetch + rapeseed, application of trifluralin herbicide, and controls (weed infested and weed free without planting cover crop). Result indicated than once established, living mulches can rapidly occupy the open space between the rows of the main crop and use the light that would otherwise be available to weeds. In the all cover crops treatments, the light extinction coefficient was increased and weed cover percentage was reduced. Highest reduction in total weed species was observed in hairy vetch + rapeseed and triticale + rapeseed cover crop 61.92% and 61.43 %, respectively, compared to weed infested, so this treatment was better than trifluralin application. It concluded that cover crops could be considered as integrated strategies for weed sustainable management.

Two pots experiments were conducted at the Experimental Farm of El-Qassasin Horticultural Research Station, Agricultural Research Center, Ismailia Governorate, Egypt, during two successive seasons of 2016/2017 – 2017/2018, to investigate the effect of potassium silicate at (0, 4, 6, and 8 cm3/l) as a foliar spray under different levels of water salinity (tap water, 1000, 2000 and 3000 ppm) on Calendula officinalis L. plant. The experiment was performed in complete randomized block design as factorial experiment with 3 replicates. The obtained results cleared that using salinity levels decreased growth parameters (plant height, number of branches/plant, fresh and dry weights of herb/plant), flowering parameters (flower diameter, number of flowers/plant, fresh and dry weight of flowers (g/plant) during eight cuts and fresh and dry weight of flowers (g/plant/season)) and chemical constituents (chlorophyll a, chlorophyll b, carbohydrate and carotenoid contents) compared to control. Moreover, the highest values in these parameters were registered by potassium silicate at 8 cm3/l concentration. Proline content increased in leaves with using saline water at 3000 ppm + potassium silicate at 8 cm3/l. Generally, it could be concluded that potassium silicate at 8 cm3/l, showed a uniform impact in alleviating inhibition of Calendula officinallis L. plant growth and productivity under moderate salinity stress condition.

Field experiment was carried out during the spring and fall seasons of 2019 at the Abu Ghraib Research Station of the Agricultural Research Office/ Ministry of Agriculture, was aimed to investigate the effect of plant growth inhibitors on growth and yield of several sorghum varieties .Randomized Complete Block Design within split plot arrangement with three replications was used. The main plot consists of three growth inhibitors (Cycocel, Ethiphon, and Mebiquat), which were added at stages six and eight leaf stage, in addition to the control treatment (distilled water only), the sub plot was included three cultivars (Mabrouk, Buhooth 70 and Giza 113). The results showed in both seasons significant interaction between cultivars and growth inhibitors in most of the studied traits. The plants of the variety Giza 113 sprayed with Ethiphon recorded the lowest period of reaching physiological maturity, the highest average dry matter yield, and the highest weight of 1000 grains (89.00 days, 17.32 ton ha-1, and 39.33 gm) respectively. The same variety recorded the highest content of chlorophyll in the leaves and the highest grain yield due to the effect of Mebiquat (49.50 spad, 3.93 ton ha-1. The cultivar Buhooth 70 with the effect of Cycocel achieved the highest average of dry matter yield of 33.27 ton ha-1.

Abstract The experiment was carried out according to the randomized complete block design (R.C.B.D) and the arrangement of split-split plot with three replications, at the Field Crops Research Station of the Agricultural Research Department - Abu Ghraib during the spring season for the years 2019 and 2020. With the aim of studying the effect of amino acids, planting dates and their effect on some of the yield characteristics and its components for three varieties of maize in the spring season. Planting dates (March 15, March 25 and April 5) occupied the main plots, while amino acids and the control treatment (proline, arginine, and distilled water) occupied the sub-plot, whereas the varieties (Rabi, Baghdad 3 and Fajr 1) occupied the sub-sub-plot, and the most important results were summarized as follows:The two cultivars, Rabi and Fajr-1, achieved a significant increase in most of the yield characteristics and its components for the seasons. The addition of the amino acid proline also led to a significant increase in most of the studied traits (the number of grains in ear, weight of 500 grains, total grain and biological yield, and harvest index), planting dates also have a significant effect on most of the studied traits. The first date (15/3) recorded increase in the number of grains per ear, the weight of 500 grams, and the grain and biological yield. The plants of the Rabi variety when cultivated on March 15 th and sprayed with the amino acid proline achieved the highest average for the grain yield, which reached 7.48 ton. ha-1 for spring 2019.

To estimate genetic parameters and heritability in durum wheat (Triticum turgidum var. durum) genotypes, seventeen genotypes (16 exotic from ICARDA and local variety (Buhooth 7)) were included in this study. This experiment was conducted using a randomized complete block design with three replications at Field Crops Research Station, Abu-Graib, Office of Agricultural Research, during 2011-2012 and 2012-2013. The results revealed significant differences among genotypes for the studied characters at both seasons. The best genetic/environmental variance ratio attained for spike length (11.90) and no. of spikes. m-2 (9.22) in the first season, and grain yield (8.82) then harvest index (4.87) in the second season. High GCV observed for grain yield (15.68), no. of spikes. m-2 (15.18) in the first season, and harvest index (16.89) and grain yield (14.22) in the second season. High heritability estimates associated with high genetic advance for no. of spikes. m-2, in the first season. While, moderate h2bs estimates associated with high GA for same trait in the second season. Expected response to selection ranged from 0.93 to 84.6, also selection index ranged from 1.23 to 106.44 for grain yield and number of spikes. m-2, respectively in the first season also the same pattern was observed for value of second season. Characteristics like no. of spikes. m-2, plant height, no. of grains. Spike-1 and grain weight showed high heritability coupled with high genetic progress. Therefore, these characters should be given top priority during selection breeding in durum wheat.

Background: Pulses are leguminous crops which not only increase the soil fertility, its fitness and maintain soil health but also essential to meet the nutritional demand of burgeoning human population particularly in developing countries. Mungbean is a major pulse crop of Zone IIa (Transitional Plain of Inland Drainage Zone) of Rajasthan state. Farm profitability can also be enhanced by augmenting farm productivity. Selection of high yielding genotypes may play a vital role to achieve sustainable high agricultural yield at farmer’s field. Therefore, it is prerequisite to identify the suitable genotypes for this zone since the available varieties were not tested for its adaptability. The current study was aimed to evaluate twelve mung bean genotypes for seed yield with four checks in Zone IIa of Rajasthan.Methods: The mung bean crop was raised during Kharif 2018 and 2019 at Agricultural Research Station, Fatehpur- Shekhawati, Sikar (Rajasthan). Seed yield and its ancillary characters have been observed by following standard protocols. Present experiment was conducted in randomized block design with three replications. The material was sown in a four row plot of 4 m length with a spacing of 30 cm between rows and 10 cm between plants.Result: The performance of genotypes RMG 1098, RMG 1132, RMG 1134, RMG 1139 and RMG 1147 were superior to the zonal, state checks and other tested genotypes. The selected high yielding mung bean genotypes can increase farm output per se and farm profitability by sustaining soil health, fitness and productivity of this region.
