Background: Temporomandibular joint disorder or dysfunction (TMD) are considered to be a subclass of the musculoskeletal disorders, so requires physiotherapy treatment. Till now very few studies have been done show the effectiveness of Rocabado approach and conventional physiotherapy, so the research aims to compare the effects of same in patients having mild to moderate Temporomandibular joint disorder. Methods: Subjects (n = 60) with TMJ dysfunction were selected for a comparative study. The participants were randomized into (1) Group A, and (2) Group B. Participants of Group A received Rocabado approach while Group B received the conventional physiotherapy along with home exercises for a period of 8 days immediately following baseline assessment. Discussion: The aim of the study was to compare the effectiveness of Rocabado approach and TENS in the patients having mild to moderate Temporomandibular joint disorder. To conclude, we can say that that the current study found evidence to justify the application of Rocabado’s technique to TMJ mobility. It helps patients with TMJ problems having mild to moderate dysfunction to improve their discomfort, mouth opening and quality of life.

Background/Aims Stroke is a common, serious and disabling condition. There is a need for early rehabilitation to cut the long-term ill effects of stroke and to maximise functional recovery. This study aimed to assess the effect of Erigo tilt table training on muscle strength and quality of life in individuals who have survived a stroke. Methods A total of 133 patients were recruited and randomly assigned to receive conventional physiotherapy (group A) or Erigo tilt table training (group B). Both groups underwent an intervention programme lasting 30 days. Quality of life and muscle strength were assessed at baseline (day 0), at the end of the intervention (day 30) and at follow up (day 90). Results Overall, 110 patients completed the study: 55 in group A and 55 in group B. Quality of life and muscle strength significantly improved between baseline and follow up with both interventions. Group A's quality of life and upper and lower muscle strength scores increased from 75, 0.57 and 1.0 at baseline to 89, 3.0 and 3.5 at follow up, respectively; while group B's scores increased from 75, 1.35 and 1.43 at baseline to 102, 3.0 and 3.64 at follow up. The Erigo tilt table resulted in significantly greater improvements than conventional physiotherapy (P<0.01). Conclusions The Erigo tilt-table could be valuable tool in the early rehabilitation of patients with acute hemiplegia as it improves muscle strength and quality of life to a greater extent than conventional physiotherapy.

Objectives: (1) The objectives of this study were to determine the effectiveness of lifestyle modification on weight loss and the quality of life in obese women with the polycystic ovarian syndrome and (2) to determine the effectiveness of conventional physiotherapy on weight loss and the quality of life in obese women with polycystic ovarian syndrome. Methods: Ethical clearance was obtained from the Institutional Ethical Committee. A total of 40 obese women with the polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) were selected and divided into two groups, Group A (N=17) received conventional physiotherapy alone, and Group B (n=15) received lifestyle modification along with conventional physiotherapy. The preassessment of body weight is measured by body mass index (BMI); the waist-hip ratio (W-H ratio) and body fat percentage and the quality of life were scored as per the PCOS questionnaire (PCOSQ); and postinterventional assessment was taken for the same after 9 months.Result: Intergroup statistical analysis for BMI revealed extremely significant in postintervention for Group B (P<0.0001). W-H ratio and PCOSQ were extremely significant for Group B (P<0.0001). While postintervention analysis showed extremely significant difference between Group A and Group B (P<0.0001). Group B treated with lifestyle modification, and conventional physiotherapy was extremely significant. Conclusion: Lifestyle modification with conventional physiotherapy helped in reducing weight and showed the increased quality of life in women with PCOS.

Occlusal splint plays a great role in the treatment of internal derangement of temporomandibular joint. Temporomandibular disorders affect 25 % of the population of the world. The purpose of the study was to elucidate the effectiveness of occlusal splint in reduction of pain, increase mouth opening, elimination of clicking sound. This randomized controlled clinical trial was done on 26 patients in two groups. Group A received occlusal splint and Group B received medications with supportive care.    Monthly follow-up was done for a period of four months. In Group A and Group B, preoperative mean of mouth opening were 36.31 mm; and 39.77 mm. pain score 4.54 cm, clicking in 76.9% and 84.6% patients respectively. After 4 months of follow- up mouth opening 50.69 mm and 43.15 mm, pain score 0.154 cm and 0.69 cm, clicking 30.8% and 76.9% patients in both groups respectively. It may be conclude that the occlusal splint is highly efficient than medication and supportive care for managing of internal derangement of temporomandibular joint.

The purpose of the study was to compare 2 techniques of arthrocentesis, to find out the efficacy of one over the other at various parameters, and to contribute to the scarce literature of these 2 techniques. Forty patients reported with a chief complaint of pain in temporomandibular joint (TMJ), clicking in TMJ, and restricted mouth opening were included in this study. Twenty patients were divided into 2 groups, all reporting with temporomandibular disorders. Group A was treated with 2-needle technique of arthrocentesis, while group B underwent concentric needle technique of arthrocentesis under local anesthesia with Ringer’s lactate solution. The operating time was found to be less in concentric needle technique (mean: 25.36 minutes) compared to 2-needle technique (mean: 42.82 minutes), and the difference was found to be statistically significant. Concentric needle technique proved to be a better alternative for TMJ arthrocentesis as it has quite a lot of advantages over 2-needle technique.

Background: Madhumeha has become a burning issue in day today life. The term Prameha has broader connotations indicating the increased quantity and quality of urination. Where as Madhumeha, is the condition where patient passes urine like honey. Madhumeha vis-à-vis Diabetes mellitus is a group of metabolic disorder characterized by Hyperglycaemia resulting from defects in Insulin secretion or its Action. In classics the prime importance has been given to Basti among Panchakarma and even termed as Ardhachikitsa or complete Chikitsa, as it produces multi-dimensional effect. Objectives: To evaluate the efficacy of the Vasti in Trio-vasti pattern and also to evaluate the efficacy of the Avapadravya in Vasti in Madhumeha, Methodology: 30 patients were selected for the study and equally divided in three groups. Group-A: 10 patients received Somavalka Kashaya Niruha Yoga Basti. Group-B: 10 patients received Somavalka Kashaya with Aavapa Dravya Niruha Yoga Basti. Group-C: 10 patients received Somavalka Kashaya Niruha Yoga Basti in Trio-vasti pattern. Results and Conclusion: After proper administration of Somavalka Kashaya Yogabasti in all the groups the results were noted that, it gives immediate and lasting results, both symptomatically and in sugar levels. Among 30 patients, 7 patients (23.33%) showed mild response, 12 Patients (40%) showed moderate response, 11 patients (36.66%) showed marked response. In mild and moderate type of Madhumeha patients, Somavalka Kashaya given in Trio-Basti helps to control it. Along with Bastikarma, administration of Patya Aahara- Vihara and Shamanoushadis may give better effect.
