I did my internship in Petra Language Center. The Products of PLC are English Language Center, Mandarin Language Center, Japanese Language Center, French Language Center, and Dutch Language Center. For English Language Center, it has other courses and it will be explained in Creative Thesis. The target market is children, teenagers, and general adults who want to enhance their foreign language skill. The competitors of PLC are Ubaya Language Center and Unesa Language Center.  The main problem of PLC is that the customers do not know where to go to get the information. The solution to this problem is to make a website. Website is a right tool for PLC because it is accessible and it provides the specific information about courses in PLC. The benefits of PLC website are to increase sales and profit, to expand its market, and to build the relationship with the customers. Keywords : promotional tool, website, unique selling point

The trend for eco-linguistics, which has been dynamically developing in the English-language literature since the 1970s, proposes a change in the perception of the relationship between language, nature, and culture, in a sense making language a link which brings together nature and culture, rather than separating them as is traditional. This approach poses important questions: How do languages ​​work in the ecosystem created by the language environment of all users of a given language context? What relationships can they enter into? How should one perceive the development of multilingualism in such an ecological approach, in which not only does "strong" affect the "weak" but “weak” reciprocates? "Weak" has an important place in the language ecosystem, which risks serious changes due to excessive weakening of one of its components. This paper aims to examine the possible inspirations that eco-linguistics offers Foreign Language Teaching (FLT), highlighting the role of each language and sensitizing the reader to the relationships that arise between languages ​​and their users in a given environment. From this perspective Claire Kramsch (2008) postulates a change in the perception of the main function of the teacher from the "teacher of a code" to the "teacher of meaning", which has specific didactic consequences in how language activities are approached. Is the school classroom a place for activities which have their origin in the trend for eco-FLT?

In this study, the relationship between fluid and crystallised intelligence and vocabulary size was investigated among Iranian students learning French as a foreign language. Studies emphasised on the importance of vocabulary size and language comprehension and tried to discover mental and intelligence factors related to this issue. To administer the present quantitative study, the Persian Adaptation of Baddeley’s (1968) Grammatical reasoning Test for Fluid Intelligence, Persian Test of Baghaei & Tabatabaee (2015) for Crystallised intelligence, and Nation’s (2012) Test of Vocabulary Size were instrumented. Population of the study was 100 intermediate learners of French language from three branches of Safir institute in Tehran. Data was analysed using SPSS and correlational tools to specify the variables correlation. Result showed that there is a significant relationship between crystallised intelligence and size of vocabulary (p<0.1), while there was no significant relationship between fluid intelligence and vocabulary size (p>0.5). It was concluded that fluid intelligence does not predict learners’ vocabulary size, but crystallised intelligence as grows gradually determines learners’ vocabulary size.

This paper addresses the issue of the development of the English language reading skills and subskills using the Braille System as the fundamental tool for visually impaired people. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between the use of the Braille System and the reading skill competence. This research was applied to 21 pupils with different blindness conditions and from 10 to 32 years old who belong to the Special Education School “Julius Dophner” in the city of Ambato, Ecuador. This preliminary study was carried out using a quasi-experimental design, where pre-tests and post-tests were applied during a three-week period. Pupils took active part in the reading of the different primers at the beginning and after the treatment process. A t-test was used to examine the hypothesis. The results revealed that the improvement in the English language reading for specific information subskill through the Braille system was meaningful. Additional testing should be done to validate the scores obtained by visually impaired students with the use of this tool. Pupils showed a positive and very enthusiastic attitude about the learning process of the English language through this tool with which they are familiar.

This paper aimed to study the relationship between the socioeducative factors from Attitude Motivation Test Battery, (AMTB, Gardner R.C. 2004) for learning English as a foreign language in high schools in Albania and the pupils` achievement, the final grades in English course. The study found that the correlation with Spearman Rho coefficient was significant at p"smaller than".05 and the grades in English course were moderately related with four variables: first, the integrative language role r=.404, p"smaller than"0.001, second, motivation r=.361, p"smaller than"0.001, third, parental support r=.313, p=0.001, and fourth, instrumental language orientation r=.305, p"smaller than"0.001. It was found a smaller correlation value between grades and pupils’ attitudes towards the English learning context at the value: r=.164, p"smaller than"0.001. A small negative, but significant correlation was found between pupils` anxiety to learn the language and the grades in English course: r=-.130, p"smaller than"0.001.

Recent studies have shown that there is a positive attitude and an increase motivation in the learning of English language by Chadian learners. Despite this, the learners’ linguistic performances remain poor especially in their written productions which are often characterised by grammatical deviances and incomprehensible sentences. This study investigates several kinds of deviances that occur in the structure of English sentences produced by Chadian learners of English as Foreign Language (EFL). The study was carried out using corpora as the method for data collection. Thus, data were drawn from 175authentic narrative paragraphs written by 175Terminale A4 students from Lycée Adoum Dallah, Moundou in Chad. The analyses were based on Interlanguage and Error Analysis Theories. Findings revealed that miss elective errors were the widespread errors committed by Chadian learners of EFL as this category represents 39.17% of deviances.  The results also indicate that sentences produced by Chadian learners of EFL were frequently affected by additive errors (27.76%) and omissionerrors (26.47%). Lastly, the study equally found that misordering errors were less committed as this category of errors represents a small proportion (6.58%) of deviances. These categories of errors were attributed to French language influences and intralingual factors.

English serves as a bridge of communication for the people from all over the world as it plays an increasingly crucial role in the process of globalization. In accordance with English curriculum standards issued by the Ministry of Education in 2011, the ultimate goal of English language discipline is to communicate. But over these years, China&rsquo;s English education has been difficult to get out of the dilemma of &ldquo;Dumb English&rdquo;. When facing the real oral communication situations, students are still too nervous to speak with a great deal of fluency and accuracy. Therefore, the present study aims to explore the relationship between English language anxiety, gender, years of English learning and final oral English achievement by inviting 41 English major freshmen of foreign language departments of Nanchang Business College. For this purpose, this study adopts a reliable Foreign Language Classroom Anxiety Scale developed by Horwitz and Cope (1986) to measure students&rsquo; anxiety. The results reveal that anxiety levels between males and females are similar; there is also no significant difference among years of learning English; however, a significantly negative correlation between college students&rsquo; foreign language anxiety and their oral English learning achievement was found.

English pronunciation self-concept refers to self-evaluation of a person’s English pronunciation proficiency which is shaped during the time spent for pronunciation learning (Gimson, 1980). The present paper aims at investigating the possible correlation between English pronunciation self-concept and English language learning. Furthermore, the relationship between global English self-concept and classroom anxieties are examined in the Iranian context. To this end, Xiuquan zhu’s (2005) questionnaire was administrated to the total of 100 English as a foreign language (EFL) students. Moreover, to assess students general English performance and their pronunciation proficiency two kinds of tests were taken by the participants. Descriptive statistics was used to turn the raw data to the interpretable forms. The analysis revealed statistically significant correlation between English pronunciation self-concept and global English self-concept with in turn leads to efficient English language performance. However, negative correlation is obtained regarding English classroom anxiety and English pronunciation self-concept. Because of facilitating role of pronunciation self-concept in English language acquisition, the findings of the present study suggest that due attention should be paid on the English pronunciation self-concept in foreign language learning teaching-learning environments

The research addresses the issues of rendering culture specific information in amateur subtitling from the Ukrainian into the English language. The fansubbing of proper names, culture-bound common nouns, formulaic sequences, sociolects and songs by the non-professional translators for whom English is a foreign language is the main focus of this study. Thus, the comparative analysis of the Ukrainian films Chasing Two Hares (1961), Shadows of Forgotten Ancestors (1965) and Prayer for Hetman Mazepa (2001), and their English subtitles reveals the difficulties fansubbers may face, as well as discusses translations strategies and techniques employed. Moreover, the study delves into reasons underlying the choice of translation approaches by nonprofessional subtitlers, including the collaborative nature of the process, the lack of theoretical knowledge and practical skills, as well as the insufficient mastering of the target language. Therefore, being a comprehensive study of the ways to convey cultural connotations of the original text by means of a foreign language on the level of fansubs, the research gives insight into the interconnection between the translation techniques used to render cultural references and the effect a target text may have on the audience.

Abstract: The present study aims to develop a model illuminating the relationship between student personality traits and motivation towards learning Mandarin as a foreign language. A model framework consisting of five exogenous variables and one endogenous variable of motivation are examined in the present study. Sample of 260 undergraduates taking Mandarin language at public university in East Malaysia was used as respondents for the present work. The path analysis revealed that the big five personality traits significantly influence and explained 52% of the variance in students' motivation. The analysis further indicates that extraversion and conscientiousness produce the strongest correlation with students' motivation. The results inferred that students who enjoy social visibility and self-discipline are also who will be motivated to learn the Mandarin language. Findings also demonstrated that agreeableness positively influence motivation, and neuroticism, as expected, produce negative direct relations with motivation towards learning Mandarin as a foreign language. On the contrary, the present study did not find any correlation between openness and motivation. The implications of this study are also discussed and interpreted within the context of what educators could do to encourage students' motivation.   Keywords: Big five, Extraversion, Mandarin language, Neuroticism, Personality traits.

The study investigated the general state of foreign language learning anxiety and the relationship between foreign language learning anxiety and foreign language learning strategy among English major college students in Shi Jiazhuang, China. The quantitative research method was adopted in this study. The instruments were Foreign Language Class Anxiety Scale and Strategy Inventory Language Learning. The subjects were 400 English major students from Shi Jiazhuang College. The results showed that there exists a negative relationship between foreign language learning anxiety and the use of foreign language learning strategy. According to the findings of this study, it is necessary to reduce learners’ foreign language learning anxiety so as to apply more types of foreign language learning strategies efficiently, especially for those foreign language learners with high-level learning anxiety. Some suggestions were put forward for pedagogical implications, which will make Chinese learners be more successful during the process for foreign language acquisition.
