In this paper, we give an update on divergent problems concerning the radiative corrections of quantum electrodynamics in (3[Formula: see text]+[Formula: see text]1) dimensions. In doing so, we introduce a geometric adaptation for the covariant photon propagator by including a higher derivative field. This derivation, so-called generalized quantum electrodynamics, is motivated by the stability and unitarity features. This theory provides a natural and self-consistent extension of the quantum electrodynamics by enlarging the space parameter of spinor-gauge interactions. In particular, Haag’s theorem undermines the perturbative characterization of the interaction picture due to its inconsistency on quantum field theory foundations. To circumvent this problem, we develop our perturbative approach in the Heisenberg picture and use it to investigate the behavior of the operator current at one-loop. We find the two- and three-point correlation functions are ultraviolet finite, electron self-energy and vertex corrections, respectively. On the other hand, we also explain how the vacuum polarization remains ultraviolet divergent only at [Formula: see text] order. Finally, we evaluate the anomalous magnetic moment, which allows us to specify a lower bound value for the Podolsky parameter.

Abstract We calculate the one-loop correction to the static potential induced by γ, W and Z-exchange at tree-level for arbitrary heavy standard model multiplets. We find that the result obeys a “Casimir-like” scaling, making the NLO correction to the potential a “low-energy” property of the electroweak gauge bosons. Furthermore, we discuss the phenomenology of the NLO potentials, the analytically known asymptotic limits and provide fitting functions in position space for easy use of the results.

An influence function filtering method (IFFM) is presented to improve the wavefront correction capability in laser systems by curbing the correction performance degradation resulted from the IF measurement noise. The IFFM is applied to the original measured IF. The resulting filtered IF is then used to calculate the wavefront control signal in each iteration of the closed-loop correction. A theoretical wavefront correction analysis model (CAM) is built. The impact of the IF measurement noise as well as the improvement of the IFFM on the wavefront correction capability are analyzed. A simulation is set up to analyze the wavefront correction capability of the filtered IF using Zernike mode aberrations. An experiment is carried out to study the effectiveness of the IFFM under practical conditions. Simulation and experimental results indicate that the IFFM could effectively reduce the negative effect of the measurement noise and improve the wavefront correction capability in laser systems. The IFFM requires no additional hardware and does not affect the correction speed.

In this paper, Radiative Correction (RC) to the Casimir energy was computed for the self-interacting massive/massless Lifshitz-like scalar field, confined between a pair of plates with Dirichlet and Mixed boundary conditions in 3 + 1 dimensions. Moreover, using the results obtained for the Dirichlet Casimir energy, the RC to the Casimir energy for Periodic and Neumann boundary conditions were also draw outed. To renormalize the bare parameters of the Lagrangian, a systematic perturbation expansion was used in which the counterterms were automatically obtained in a position-dependent manner. In our view, the position dependency of the counterterm was allowed, since it reflected the effects of the boundary condition imposed or the background space in the problem. All the answers obtained for the Casimir energy were consistent with well-known physical expects. In a language of graphs, the Casimir energy for the massive Lifshitz-like scalar field confined with four boundary conditions (Dirichlet, Neumann, Mixed, and Periodic) was also compared to each other, and as a concluding remark, the sign and magnitude of their values were discussed.

Abstract We compute the albedo (or reflectivity) of electromagnetic waves off the electron-positron Hawking plasma that surrounds the horizon of a Quantum Black Hole. We adopt the “modified firewall conjecture” for fuzzballs [1, 2], where we consider significant electromagnetic interaction around the horizon. While prior work has treated this problem as an electron-photon scattering process, we find that the incoming quanta interact collectively with the fermionic excitations of the Hawking plasma at low energies. We derive this via two different methods: one using relativistic plasma dispersion relation, and another using the one-loop correction to photon propagator. Both methods find that the reflectivity of long wavelength photons off the Hawking plasma is significant, contrary to previous claims. This leads to the enhancement of the electromagnetic albedo for frequencies comparable to the Hawking temperature of black hole horizons in vacuum. We comment on possible observable consequences of this effect.

In view of the large calibration workload of existing models, this paper proposes a compound correction method based on the principle of compound correction control; this method takes open-loop correction as the main body, which represents the driver’s mastery of vehicle dynamics characteristics; on this basis, a closed-loop correction is added to describe driver’s compensation and correction capabilities. Considering the complexity of the longitudinal force of the vehicle, based on the analysis of the longitudinal force of the vehicle, considering the actual situation of the actual driver’s foot switching between the accelerator pedal and the brake pedal, a longitudinal dynamics split-phase correction method is proposed. In addition, this paper proposes a fast calibration method of the inverse model of the main characteristics of vehicle dynamics, which mainly studies the fast calibration method of the main characteristics of braking dynamics and lateral dynamics in order to reduce the time cost. The simulation shows that the compound correction model proposed in this paper not only has a small calibration workload and high control accuracy, but also has a certain adaptive ability to the nonlinear characteristics of vehicle dynamics; the main characteristics of braking dynamics and lateral dynamics proposed in this paper has high accuracy.

Abstract We examine in detail the structure of the Regge limit of the (nonplanar) $$ \mathcal{N} $$ N = 4 SYM four-point amplitude. We begin by developing a basis of color factors Cik suitable for the Regge limit of the amplitude at any loop order, and then calculate explicitly the coefficients of the amplitude in that basis through three-loop order using the Regge limit of the full amplitude previously calculated by Henn and Mistlberger. We compute these coefficients exactly at one loop, through $$ \mathcal{O}\left({\upepsilon}^2\right) $$ O ϵ 2 at two loops, and through $$ \mathcal{O}\left({\upepsilon}^0\right) $$ O ϵ 0 at three loops, verifying that the IR-divergent pieces are consistent with (the Regge limit of) the expected infrared divergence structure, including a contribution from the three-loop correction to the dipole formula. We also verify consistency with the IR-finite NLL and NNLL predictions of Caron-Huot et al. Finally we use these results to motivate the conjecture of an all-orders relation between one of the coefficients and the Regge limit of the $$ \mathcal{N} $$ N = 8 supergravity four-point amplitude.

Abstract We study the stress tensor multiplet four-point function in the 6d maximally supersymmetric (2, 0) AN−1 and DN theories, which have no Lagrangian description, but in the large N limit are holographically dual to weakly coupled M-theory on AdS7× S4 and AdS7× S4/ℤ2, respectively. We use the analytic bootstrap to compute the 1-loop correction to this holographic correlator coming from Witten diagrams with supergravity R and the first higher derivative correction R4 vertices, which is the first 1-loop correction computed for a non-Lagrangian theory. We then take the flat space limit and find precise agreement with the corresponding terms in the 11d M-theory S-matrix, some of which we compute for the first time using two-particle unitarity cuts.
