AbstractFrom the industrial revolution to the present, scholars, consultants and experts in different disciplines have tried to answer the fundamental question: What is a business? In this chapter, we structure these historical perspectives in the following groups: Mechanical, Organic and Cultural. The mechanical perspective provides the “rational logic” of planning and supervision. The organic perspective adds creativity and initiative. Finally, the cultural perspective promotes internal unity through a common purpose that harnesses the commitment and engagement of the company’s members. From the combination of the three perspectives, we introduce the “Integrated Organizational Model” as the conceptual foundation of management by missions (MBM).

ABSTRAKDalam dunia  pendidikan, school bullying merupakan salah satu masalah sosial yang cukup memprihatinkan karena terjadi hampir disemua tingkat kelas dan diseluruh dunia. Banyak faktor  internal maupun eksternal yang  berkontribusi pada school bullying. Pemahaman atas hak-hak anak serta implementasinya dalam Sekolah Ramah Anak merupakan salah satu solusinya. Pengabdian masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk memberikan pelatihan dan modelling tentang Sekolah Ramah Anak. Diharapkan para peserta memiliki landasan konseptual yang komprehensif tentang Sekolah Ramah Anak dan dapat mengimplementasikannya di sekolah masing-masing. Pelatihan dan modelling dilaksanakan melalui aplikasi Zoom, Schoology dan Whatsapp. Setelah pelaksanaan pelatihan, para peserta memiliki pemahaman dasar konseptual yang lebih komprehensif tentang Konvensi Hak-Hak Anak dan implementasinya dalam Sekolah Ramah Anak. Sehingga, mereka mampu berimaji membuat rancangan program implementasi Sekolah Ramah Anak di sekolah masing-masing. Kata kunci: hak-hak anak; sekolah ramah anak; student well-being. ABSTRACTIn the education world, school bullying represents a social problem that needs excellent attention because it occurs in almost all grade levels across the globe. Many internal and external factors contribute to school bullying. Understanding children's rights and their implementation in Child-Friendly Schools is one of the solutions for the problem. This community service aims to provide training and modelling on Child-Friendly Schools. It is hoped that the participants gain a comprehensive conceptual foundation on Child-Friendly Schools and implement it in their institutions. Training and modelling are carried out through the Zoom, Schoology and Whatsapp applications. The result of the activity indicated that the participants had a more comprehensive conceptual, basic understanding of the Convention on the Rights of the Child and its implementation in Child-Friendly Schools. In addition, they could design programs to implement Child-Friendly Schools in their institution. Keywords: children's rights; child-friendly schools; student well-being.

This article illustrates the stagnation of classical theology and the possibility of constructing prophetic Islamic theology with the social prophetics foundation is built by Kuntowijoyo. The stagnation of classical theology is the main reason for the importance of developing scientific theories, especially social prophetics to answer the problems faced by Muslims. The Kuntowijoyoan Social Prophetics as the conceptual foundation has a humanization, liberation and transcendence orientation. The aiming of this article is to review the philosophical foundations of social prophetics that have a very deep philosophical foundation ranging from philosophy, theology and classical Sufism in Islam as the Indonesian Muslim intellectual ideology today

Reason of state understood as the reason for its existence and expressed by a synthesis of the normative as well as the political, including its normative and empirical, universal and particular, abstract and concrete dimensions requires a justification by political philosophy. Yet, in the output of the main body of Western political philosophy, including the Aristotelian, Marxist, and liberal traditions, the reason of state lacks any validation. In those traditions, there is no distinction between the elements to be found in all states and those present only in some of them. In fact, both in Aristotle and Marx, the normative in the conduct of all states sets the limits of the empirical which expresses their real behavior. The normative of general principles outlines the political of concrete states. The normative supervises the political and the political is to confirm the normative. Thus, in Aristotle and Marx, the political is to indicate the necessity of the normative, its power of influence and complex character. In turn, the modern as well as contemporary liberals, especially contractarians, completely deprive their normative argument of any empirical confirmation. Thus, they consciously and purposefully give it exclusively a normative dimension. Accordingly, the normative fully replaces the empirical which leads to the elimination of the political. In his concept of public reason, Rawls goes even further and considers the empirical identical with the normative, and consequently the political with the normative. For some of his followers, the irrevocable character of the connection between the normative and the empirical in the notion of public reason is to be guaranteed by elimination of the political. This is to be achieved by the abolition of the state itself and thus the deprivation of the idea of reason of state of any conceptual foundation. However, both in Montesquieu and Burke, there is a strong distinction between what characterizes all states and what distinguishes each of them. Such a distinction results from the difference between what is common to their subjects or citizens and the societies they create, and what distinguishes them from themselves and their societies. At the same time, Montesquieu’s liberalism and Burke’s conservatism offer an equilibrium of the normative and the political which in turn constitutes a doctrinal support for the concept of reason of state beyond the main traditions of western political philosophy.

There is now a growing understanding that translational research must be co-created in collaboration with community partners and that solutions to real-world social problems require stepping outside the academic silo. Fewer than half of psychology programs in Canada, however, offer courses in community-based research or evaluation, leaving a gap in skill development amongst the next generation of scholars. In an effort to partially fill this learning gap, the current paper provides insights into lessons learned from the perspectives of researchers and community partners alike, who have been mutually engaging in community-based research over the last 25 years. Ultimately this paper seeks to provide a roadmap for conducting community-based research and illustrates why it should be a central component to research seeking to answer critical questions in psychological science. First, we provide a conceptual foundation of community-based research. Next, using three specific community-based research projects as examples, we share the challenges and benefits of conducting research in the community context. Finally, we highlight future directions for increasing the uptake of community-based research in Canada.

<p><b>Conflict between parents has been widely studied and its detrimental consequences for children have been documented across domains of psychological functioning, academic performance and social adjustment. Research has focused on the verbal and physical expressions of interparental conflict, however, when tested for, strong indications have been emerging that its non-verbal non-physical forms have similarly serious implications for the young people‟s wellbeing as the overt ones. The scarceness of findings related to covert forms of interparental conflict provided impetus for qualitative research with parents and adolescents (Kielpikowski & Pryor, 2008; Pryor & Pattison, 2007). The research has resulted in proposing a construct of silent interparental conflict (SIC) and provided the conceptual foundation for this thesis. Adopting a systemic approach to the functioning of families characterised by interrelatedness and reciprocity of influences among the members, this thesis investigated processes related to silent interparental conflict through a series of empirical studies with New Zealand families.</b></p> <p>The need for developing the Silent Interparental Conflict Scale (SICS) for parents was rationalised following a review of a comprehensive assembly of representative instruments for measuring couples‟ conflict. The items were derived from the qualitative data corpus (Kielpikowski, 2004). A three factor structure was established and supported by confirmatory factor analyses using data from two samples of parents (Ns = 108 and 260). The SICS demonstrated excellent psychometric qualities and stability over time.</p> <p>The modus operandi of SIC was hypothesises and tested from the perspectives of parents and adolescents. Drawing from multidisciplinary scholarship, predictors and psychological outcomes of SIC for parents were hypothesised. Theoretical models were tested concurrently and after a lapse of one year utilising data from 115 parental dyads. The findings suggested divergent processes for mothers and fathers. The hypothesised links between the incidence and the Costs of SIC and psychological maladjustment were supported concurrently. Additionally, uniquely for mothers, their perception of the Benefits of silent conflict resulted in reduced maladjustment over time. SIC for fathers was consistently predicted by own avoidance of conflict both concurrently and over time. For mothers the consistent concurrent and longitudinal predictor of SIC was the perceived hostility from partner. Protectiveness towards children acted as a concurrent predictor of SIC for mothers and fathers, for whom additionally it predicted SIC over time. Tests for reciprocal influences using the Actor Partner Interdependence Model (Kenny, Kashy, & Cook, 2006) indicated a significant Partner effect from fathers‟ own avoidance to mothers‟ perceptions of SIC. Parents differed significantly on Actor effects with path coefficients higher on conflict avoidance for fathers and on partner‟s hostility for mothers.</p> <p>The impact of SIC on the wellbeing of adolescents was hypothesised within the cognitive contextual framework (Grych & Fincham, 1990) and the spillover hypothesis (Erel & Burman, 1995). Adolescents‟ adjustment was conceptualised as consisting of internalising and externalising problems measured with items from the SDQ (Goodman, Melzer, & Bailey, 1998), and of positive expectations of the future measured with a scale designed for the study. Threat, self-blame and parental SIC-related spillover behaviour represented by hostility towards the adolescents were posed as mediators of the effects of SIC on adolescents‟ adjustment. Separate models were tested for boys and girls and for the parent-child gender constellations. Over time the effect of SIC on boys‟ internalising problems was fully mediated by father‟s hostility. In contrast, the longitudinal effect of SIC on girls‟ internalising problems was fully mediated by the appraisal of threat and the effect on their expectations of the future was fully mediated by mother‟s hostility. Analyses of longitudinal familywide models revealed that fathers‟ perceptions of SIC differentially influenced the boys‟ and girls‟ processes.</p> <p>The findings advance our understanding of the functioning of SIC and highlight the relatedness and the uniqueness of associated processes for family members depending on their gender and role within the family system.</p>

A great deal of operational information exists in the form of text. Therefore, extracting operational information from unstructured military text is of great significance for assisting command decision making and operations. Military relation extraction is one of the main tasks of military information extraction, which aims at identifying the relation between two named entities from unstructured military texts. However, the traditional methods of extracting military relations cannot easily resolve problems such as inadequate manual features and inaccurate Chinese word segmentation in military fields, failing to make full use of symmetrical entity relations in military texts. With our approach, based on the pre-trained language model, we present a Chinese military relation extraction method, which combines the bi-directional gate recurrent unit (BiGRU) and multi-head attention mechanism (MHATT). More specifically, the conceptual foundation of our method lies in constructing an embedding layer and combining word embedding with position embedding, based on the pre-trained language model; the output vectors of BiGRU neural networks are symmetrically spliced to learn the semantic features of context, and they fuse the multi-head attention mechanism to improve the ability of expressing semantic information. On the military text corpus that we have built, we conduct extensive experiments. We demonstrate the superiority of our method over the traditional non-attention model, attention model, and improved attention model, and the comprehensive evaluation value F1-score of the model is improved by about 4%.

Narrative analysis represents the cutting edge in various domains of political communication research and has recently made its way into populism studies. Nevertheless, despite the growing academic interest in populist storytelling and populist narratives, a conceptual foundation of these phenomena remains scarce. Situated at the intersection of political communication and literary studies, the article fills this gap by proposing a systematized concept of a populist narrative. Building upon the minimum definitions of the background concepts, the study identifies a set of necessary attributes shared by populist narratives. It further discusses the effectiveness of populist narratives with the focus on four dimensions: archetypal structure, emotionality, suspensefulness, and ability to facilitate identification. Against the backdrop of the increasing role of storytelling in contemporary politics, the article facilitates a more coherent and meaningful examination of populist narratives.
