The investigation was aimed at identifying indicators of the Covid-19 pandemic impact on the sphere of physical culture and sports in a heterogeneous array of statistical indicators. The authors used official governmental statistics and Internet statistics reflecting thematic online activity of the population and various aspects of the state of organizations operating in the field of physical culture and sports. Despite of a significant reduction in cash receipts from the services provided in this area, specialized organizations are overcoming the consequences of the pandemic. New forms of inde-pendent and online physical education and sports, which became widespread during the strict quarantine restrictions, remain popular among the population. Quantitative evidence of that statement was worked out: the values of statistical indicators of consumption by the population of physical culture and sports services, demography of organizations operating in the field of sports, by the fall of 2020, began to return to pre-crisis values. Indicators of the demand for physical culture and sports services in online formats included attendance of thematic sites and public pages in social networks, as well as the number of thematic search queries. It was found that such an indicator as the number of visits to the online training site continued to increase even after the quarantine restrictions were lifted. One of the directions of scientific research in that area can be the development of methods for collecting, aggre-gating and data mining, allowing to assess the degree of adaptation of physical culture and sports organizations to the conditions of restrictive measures by using the capabilities of the digital economy.

Sentinel-2 (S2) multi-spectral instrument (MSI) images are used in an automated approach built on fuzzy set theory and a region growing (RG) algorithm to identify areas affected by fires in Mediterranean regions. S2 spectral bands and their post- and pre-fire date (Dpost-pre) difference are interpreted as evidence of burn through soft constraints of membership functions defined from statistics of burned/unburned training regions; evidence of burn brought by the S2 spectral bands (partial evidence) is integrated using ordered weighted averaging (OWA) operators that provide synthetic score layers of likelihood of burn (global evidence of burn) that are combined in an RG algorithm. The algorithm is defined over a training site located in Italy, Vesuvius National Park, where membership functions are defined and OWA and RG algorithms are first tested. Over this site, validation is carried out by comparison with reference fire perimeters derived from supervised classification of very high-resolution (VHR) PlanetScope images leading to more than satisfactory results with Dice coefficient >0.84, commission error <0.22 and omission error <0.15. The algorithm is tested for exportability over five sites in Portugal (1), Spain (2) and Greece (2) to evaluate the performance by comparison with fire reference perimeters derived from the Copernicus Emergency Management Service (EMS) database. In these sites, we estimate commission error <0.15, omission error <0.1 and Dice coefficient >0.9 with accuracy in some cases greater than values obtained in the training site. Regression analysis confirmed the satisfactory accuracy levels achieved over all sites. The algorithm proposed offers the advantages of being least dependent on a priori/supervised selection for input bands (by building on the integration of redundant partial burn evidence) and for criteria/threshold to obtain segmentation into burned/unburned areas.

Background: In 2018, Stellenbosch University's Ukwanda Centre for Rural Health led a faculty initiative to expand undergraduate health professions training to a new site, 9 hours drive from the health sciences campus in the sparsely populated Northern Cape Province of South Africa in the town of Upington. This is part of a faculty strategy to extend undergraduate health sciences training into an under-resourced part of the country, where there is no medical school. During 2019, the first year of implementation, four final year medical students undertook a longitudinal integrated clerkship at this site, while final year students from other programmes undertook short 5-week rotations, with plans for extending rotations and including more disciplines in 2020. The aim of this study was to understand stakeholder perceptions regarding the development of Upington as a rural clinical training site and how this influenced existing services, workforce sustainability and health professions education.Methods: An iterative thematic analysis of qualitative data collected from 55 participants between January and November 2019 was conducted as part of the case study. A constructivist approach to data collection was utilized to explore participants' perceptions, experiences and understanding of the new training site. Triangulation of data collection and reflexive thematic analysis contributed to the trustworthiness of the data and credibility of the findings.Findings: The perceptions of three key groups of stakeholders are reported: (1) Dr. Harry Surtie Hospital and Academic Programme Managers; (2) Supervising and non-supervising clinical staff and (3) Students from three undergraduate programs of the Faculty. Five themes emerged regarding the development of the site. The themes include the process of development; the influence on the health service; workforce sustainability; a change in perspective and equipping a future workforce.Discussion: This case study provides data to support the value of establishing a rural clinical training platform in a resource constrained environment. The influence of the expansion initiative on the current workforce speaks to the potential for improved capacity and competence in patient management with an impact on encouraging a rural oriented workforce. Using this case study to explore how the establishment of a new rural clinical training site is perceived to influence rural workforce sustainability and pathways, may have relevance to other institutions in similar settings. The degree of sustainability of the clinical training initiative is explored.

Medical school–based pathology departments were surveyed in order to evaluate their relationship with sites providing forensic pathology training. Of 59 departments surveyed, 49 (83%) responded. Most (88%) respondents indicated that training occurs at an affiliated medical examiner/coroner office, and 78% indicated that the facility is 10 miles or less from the academic health center. The majority (61%) of respondents require 4 weeks of forensic pathology training for their residents while the others require none (3); 6, 8, or 12 weeks (2 each); and 16 weeks (3, with two having integrated forensic and medical autopsies). The majority (81%) send one resident at a time to the forensic pathology training site, and almost always (92%) the experience is dedicated to forensic pathology without mixing with other training. Two-thirds of respondents send between 1 and 5 residents per year for training. Prior autopsy experience is required by 79% of departments. Medical student rotations in forensic pathology are available to 86% of reporting departments. Almost 3 quarters of respondents indicated that a forensic pathology fellowship is available through the training site with 83% being funded by the training site. About half of departments indicated that they provide some financial support to the site. Of reporting departments, 71% indicated that they give faculty appointments to forensic pathologists at the training site, with 3 quarters being voluntary appointments. Affiliated forensic pathology training sites are a valuable asset although 6 respondents report offering such training either totally or partially within the pathology department itself.

The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of the work environment, self-efficacy, and characteristics of trainees on the transfer of training. Research conducted on the employees of PT. PJB UP MuaraTawar, a subsidiary of PLN, by taking 90 employees as research samples using purposive sampling technique. To analyze data collected using Multiple Linear Regression to prove the research hypothesis. Based on the studies conducted, the results of the analysis show that the work environment, self-efficacy, and characteristics of trainees significantly influence the direction of the training transfer. For this reason, it is suggested that the company pay attention to the work environment, self-efficacy, and characteristics of employee training participants. With the intention of employees can transfer training well and do what has been learned at the training site into work every day.

Abstract. Cloud detection for night-time panchromatic visible and near-infrared (VNIR) satellite imagery is typically performed based on synchronized observations in the thermal infrared (TIR). To be independent of TIR and to improve existing algorithms, we realize and analyze cloud detection based on VNIR only, here NPP/VIIRS/DNB observations. Using Random Forest for classifying cloud vs. clear and focusing on urban areas, we illustrate the importance of features describing a) the scattering by clouds especially over urban areas with their inhomogeneous light emissions and b) the normalized differences between Earth’s surface and cloud albedo especially in presence of Moon illumination. The analyses substantiate the influences of a) the training site and scene selections and b) the consideration of single scene or multi-temporal scene features on the results for the test sites. As test sites, diverse urban areas and the challenging land covers ocean, desert, and snow are considered. Accuracies of up to 85% are achieved for urban test sites.

It is characterized main features of landscape-geochemical structure of “Oleshkivski pisky” military range. It is analysed special aspects of military training activity influence on the of soils and plants contamination level with heavy metals. Sampling scheme for studying of heavy metals migration features, with respect to landscape structure of the territory is substantiated. Special features of heavy metals distribution in soils at different distances from firing positions within military range have been determined. It is investigated distribution and accumulation of I and II danger class heavy metals in soil and vegetational cover of the military training site. The regularities of spatial distribution of mobile and potentially accessible forms of heavy metals are determined. It was defined that content of heavy metals in three movable forms are represented in the following geochemical units, mg/kg: in acid soluble form – Mn > Zn > Pb > Cu > V > Ni > Co > Cd; in exchangeable form – Mn > Zn > Pb > V > Co = Ni > Cu > Cd; in water soluble form – Mn > Zn > Pb = V > Co > Ni > Cd > Cu. It is presented studies results on accumulation intensity and the nature of distribution of gross and mobile heavy metals forms in soil space and on their migration in the soil profile. The dominant technogenic geochemical unit was extracted: Cd > Hg > Pb > Cu > Zn > Ni > V > Co > Mn. Landscapes with maximum polyelement contamination have been identified. Landscape-geochemical map of “Oleshkivski pisky” military training site territory was drawn, relying on own field and experimental materials. Migration dynamics of Ni, Zn, Cu, V, Pb and other heavy metals mobile forms in the soil profile of soddy underdeveloped sandy soil during 2015–2019 under impact contamination levels has been determinated. The peculiarities of heavy metals mobile forms absorption in typical plant species of the military range territory during 2015–2019 vegetation periods were clarified.
