Context: The mobile app market is continually growing offering solutions to almost all aspects of people’s lives, e.g., healthcare, business, entertainment, as well as the stakeholders’ demand for apps that are more secure, portable, easy to use, among other non-functional requirements (NFRs). Therefore, manufacturers should guarantee that their mobile apps achieve high-quality levels. A good strategy is to include software testing and quality assurance activities during the whole life cycle of such solutions. Problem: Systematically warranting NFRs is not an easy task for any software product. Software engineers must take important decisions before adopting testing techniques and automation tools to support such endeavors. Proposal: To provide to the software engineers with a broad overview of existing dynamic techniques and automation tools for testing mobile apps regarding NFRs. Methods: We planned and conducted a Systematic Mapping Study (SMS) following well-established guidelines for executing secondary studies in software engineering. Results: We found 56 primary studies and characterized their contributions based on testing strategies, testing approaches, explored mobile platforms, and the proposed tools. Conclusions: The characterization allowed us to identify and discuss important trends and opportunities that can benefit both academics and practitioners.

Automation testing is a methodology that uses an application to implement the entire life cycle of the software in less time and provides efficiency and effectiveness to the testing software. In automation testing, the tester writes scripts and uses any suitable application software to test the software application. Automation is basically an automated process that is comprised of lots of manual activities. In other words, automation testing uses automation tools like Selenium, Sikuli, Appium, etc., to write test script and execute test cases, with no or minimal manual involvement required while executing an automated test suite. Usually, automation testers write test scripts and test cases using any of the automation tool and then groups test several cases. Here, we will discuss a neat case study explaining the automation testing using a hybrid test script.

The 21st-century economy is increasingly built around data. Firms and individuals upload and store enormous amount of data. Most of the produced data is stored on private servers, but a considerable part is made publicly available across the 1.83 billion websites available online. These data can be accessed by researchers using web-scraping techniques. Web scraping refers to the process of collecting data from web pages either manually or using automation tools or specialized software. Web scraping is possible and relatively simple thanks to the regular structure of the code used for websites designed to be displayed in web browsers. Websites built with HTML can be scraped using standard text-mining tools, either scripts in popular (statistical) programming languages such as Python, Stata, R, or stand-alone dedicated web-scraping tools. Some of those tools do not even require any prior programming skills. Since about 2010, with the omnipresence of social and economic activities on the Internet, web scraping has become increasingly more popular among academic researchers. In contrast to proprietary data, which might not be feasible due to substantial costs, web scraping can make interesting data sources accessible to everyone. Thanks to web scraping, the data are now available in real time and with significantly more details than what has been traditionally offered by statistical offices or commercial data vendors. In fact, many statistical offices have started using web-scraped data, for example, for calculating price indices. Data collected through web scraping has been used in numerous economic and finance projects and can easily complement traditional data sources.

The creation of modern high-performance machines often involves design of details with complex surfacese and made with high precision. At the stage of design and preparation of production, project work is carried out using automation tools and modern information and computer technologies. The process of creating a project is accompanied by the preparation of appropriate documentation, sufficient to solve all possible questions, starting with the formation of a design task and disposal of the product at the end of its operation. According to statistics, most details in mechanical engineering are simple in shape, relatively technological in production, and their surfaces are most often described in the drawings by a set of lines and circles (radius of curvature). This approach is economically justified and will ensure the reliable operation of the product during operation. Significant difficulties arise when it is necessary to design parts with surfaces of complex geometric shape, when the geometric parameters are set by coordinate points. The accuracy of surface description depends on the number of such points and the accuracy of numerical data. Typical examples include turbine impellers, parts with aerodynamic surfaces that are used, for example, in the aerospace or rocket industries. The process of manufacturing such parts is accompanied by overcoming specific difficulties in describing complex surfaces at the stages of design and technological preparation, as well as directly in the manufacture of parts on technological equipment, intermediate and final control of geometric accuracy. An option for an effective solution of such problems is to record complex smooth surfaces, predefined by a set of coordinate points, splines. Modern design automation tools make it possible to use this mathematical method for modeling complex geometric objects and use it to calculate the trajectories of the forming tool on CNC machines. On the example of parts from production, which has a complex surface, using computer-aided design systems considered options for making design and technological design decisions for production preparation, equipment design, control the accuracy of shaping when machining on CNC machines.

Despite rapid adaptation of micro-electron diffraction (MicroED) for protein and small molecule structure determination to sub-angstrom resolution, the lack of automation tools for easy MicroED data processing remains a challenge for expanding to the broader scientific community. In particular, automation tools, which are novice user friendly, compatible with heterogenous datasets and can be run in unison with data collection to judge the quality of incoming data (similar to cryosparc LIVE for single particle cryoEM) do not exist. Here, we present AutoMicroED, a cohesive and semi-automatic MicroED data processing pipeline that runs through image conversion, indexing, integration and scaling of data, followed by merging of successful datasets that are pushed through phasing and final structure determination. AutoMicroED is compatible with both small molecule and protein datasets and creates a straightforward and reproducible method to solve single structures from pure samples, or multiple structures from mixed populations. The immediate feedback on data quality, data completeness and more parameters, aids users to identify whether they have collected enough data for their needs. Overall, AutoMicroED permits efficient structure elucidation for both novice and experienced users with comparable results to more laborious manual processing.

The automation of business processes and operations is a global trend. Automation is software or mechanical self-fulfilling process without or with a minimal human intervention and control. In specific processes and parts of the energy transport the automation is already happening. It can replace significant part of human labour or just to take and reduce the routine physical or repeating mental efforts of the jobs. Automation tools and systems in the energy transport are strongly dominated by open-source software automation tools. Therefore, a part of professional skills required before automation will not be useful in the future, but to handle automation trend, many new skills and knowledge will be needed by the human jobs of the future.
