At the background of increased attention towards a psychological interpretation of content-based linguistic phenomena, aiming to relate them to the mentality of different peoples, the article calls on to avoid positing the direct, proximate dependence of language features on those of ethnic mentality. Along with the search in this direction, one should also bear in their mind the possible effects of general mental activities of people (regardless of their ethnicity), of the general structural specificity of the language at its various levels, as well as particular features of formation and development of the literary (standard) form of the national language. The material for a more specific analysis were some phenomena of the Ukrainian language that arouse great interest what concerns the features of Ukrainian mentality being [allegedly] mirrored in them: diminutives with hypocoristic connotations, the category of passive voice, “positivity” of Ukrainian vocabulary inner form, abundance of Ukrainian synonyms.

AbstractPhenomenologically grounded research on pregnancy is a thriving area of activity in feminist studies and related disciplines. But what has been largely omitted in this area of research is the experience of childbirth itself. This paper proposes a phenomenological analysis of childbirth inspired by the work of Merleau-Ponty. The paper proceeds from the conviction that the concept of anonymity can play a critical role in explicating the affective structure of childbirth. This is evident in at least two respects. First, the concept of anonymity gives structural specificity to the different levels of bodily existence at work in childbirth. Second, the concept of anonymity can play a powerful explanatory role in accounting for the sense of strangeness accompanying childbirth. To flesh these ideas out, I focus on two attributes of birth, sourced from first-person narratives of childbirth. The first aspect concerns the sense of leaving one’s body behind during childbirth while the second aspect concerns the sense of strangeness accompanying the first encounter with the baby upon successful delivery. I take both of these aspects of childbirth seriously, treating them as being instructive not only of the uniqueness of childbirth but also revealing something important about bodily life more generally. Accordingly, the paper unfolds in three stages. First, I will critically explore the concept of anonymity in Merleau-Ponty; second, I will apply this concept to childbirth; finally, I will provide an outline of how childbirth sheds light on the broader nature of bodily life.

AbstractSingle-cell analysis is critical to revealing cell-to-cell heterogeneity that would otherwise be lost in ensemble analysis. Detailed lipidome characterization for single cells is still far from mature, especially when considering the highly complex structural diversity of lipids and the limited sample amounts available from a single cell. We report the development of a general strategy enabling single-cell lipidomic analysis with high structural specificity. Cell fixation is applied to retain lipids in the cell during batch treatments prior to single-cell analysis. In addition to tandem mass spectrometry analysis revealing the class and fatty acyl-chain for lipids, batch photochemical derivatization and single-cell droplet treatment are performed to identify the C=C locations and sn-positions of lipids, respectively. Electro-migration combined with droplet-assisted electrospray ionization enables single-cell mass spectrometry analysis with easy operation but high efficiency in sample usage. Four subtypes of human breast cancer cells are correctly classified through quantitative analysis of lipid C=C location or sn-position isomers in ~160 cells. Most importantly, the single-cell deep lipidomics strategy successfully discriminates gefitinib-resistant cells from a population of wild-type human lung cancer cells (HCC827), highlighting its unique capability to promote precision medicine.

A dogmatic is a short chant of dogmatic content devoted to the Holy Virgin. According to the orthodox tradition, the author of dogmatics is considered reverend John Damaskin (VII cent.). Due to their poetic style and form, structural specificity and contents dogmatics are the best proof that our church hymn writing is a church confession of our dogmata, our teaching of faith and morality. Listening to these enlightening chants dur-ing church service plunges Christians into the impenetrable depth of our faith.
