Medical and dental records of Veterinary Dental Specialties and Oral Surgery were searched to identify dogs that received full metal prosthodontic crowns on canine teeth, using a feather or knife edge preparation between 2005 and 2017. A total of 160 teeth in 84 dogs were included in the study. Current follow-up by telephone, electronic mail, or electronic messaging was conducted, in addition to thorough record review for in-person recheck examinations. Treatment was considered successful if the prosthodontic crown was in place and no further or additional injury to the tooth had occurred at the time of reexamination, owner contact, or patient death. Tooth fracture apical to the prosthodontic crown occurred in 2 (1.25%) cases, bond failure between the tooth and the cement or the cement and the crown occurred in a single case (0.625%), and one metal crown required replacement after 3 years due to wear (0.625%), for an overall failure rate of 2.5%. These results suggest that feather preparation of the margin is at least as, if not more, successful as the more commonly accepted and performed chamfer margin, and thus is a successful, practical and durable option for prosthodontic crown treatment in dog canine teeth.

COVID-19 generated new forms of student-teacher interactions, and it increased the use of virtual educational environments. Electronic messaging is one of the most widely used forms of communication between teachers and students. However, few studies on how teachers provide feedback motivate and encourage students to engage in academic activities in online learning environments. This study aims to characterize messages sent by university teachers to their students with low academic performance during the emergency remote teaching in the COVID-19 pandemic context. The electronic messages were obtained through the snowball sampling technique. The sample consisted of eighteen email threads facilitated by six universities. Ethical requirements for this type of research were met, and discourse or text analysis was used as a methodology with a qualitative approach and hermeneutic orientation. This study shows two main results. First, the necessary data to identify students with low academic performance can be mainly obtained from their teachers and third parties, like university authorities. Second, there are a number of elements to consider when creating messages to improve the engagement of underperforming students. These fundamental elements are: tone of voice, content of the message and moment in which the message is sent. Messages that are explicitly written for each student or group of students and messages that were written with anticipation, showed to be most effective in engaging students.

Objective: Ambulance services are evolving from use of paper-based recording of patient information to electronic platforms and the impact of this change has yet to be fully explored. The aim of this study is to explore how the introduction of a system permitting electronic information capture and its subsequent sharing were perceived by the ambulance clinicians using it.Methods: An online questionnaire was designed based upon the technology acceptance model and distributed throughout one ambulance service in the south east of England. Closed-ended questions with Likert scales were used to collect data from patient-facing staff who use an online community falls and diabetic referral platform or an electronic messaging system to update GPs following a patient encounter. Results: There were 273 responses from ambulance clinicians. Most participants agreed that they used tablet computers and smartphones to make their life easier (85% and 86%, respectively). Most participants felt that referring patients to a community falls or diabetic team electronically was an efficient use of their time (81% and 81%, respectively) and many believed that these systems improved the communication of confidential patient information. GP summaries were perceived as increasing time spent on scene but most participants (89%) believed they enabled collaborative working. Overall, collecting and sharing patient information electronically was perceived by most participants as beneficial to their practice. Conclusion: In this study, the ability to electronically refer patients to community services and share patient encounters with the GP was predominantly perceived as both safe for patients and an effective use of the participants’ clinical time. However, there is often still a need to communicate to GPs in real time, demonstrating that technology could complement, rather than replace, how clinicians communicate.

Workspace environment portal could be a work communication tool, “a single place for electronic messaging, tools and files.” this suggests a rapid electronic messaging system with voluminous add-ins for different work tools. The add-ins aren’t necessary to use the platform, as the main motive and functionality is all regarding talking to others. There are 2 ways of chat in the Workspace: channels (group chat), and direct message or DM (person-to-person chat). Workspace would be most useful for one to complete a project with several components working along with a team. And there were naturally several conversations at the that time. With Workspace Environmental Portal, one can create a number of channels specific to each major conversational theme, allowing us to have a number of concurrent conversations while keeping each conversation separate.

We come to realize the importance of “telehealth” during the current COVID-19 pandemic. Telehealth can be defined as providing health care, including preventive, diagnostic, and treatment services, by using information and communication technologies such as videoconferencing, electronic messaging, and telephone calls (1). With the rapid development of new treatment technology, communication, and fast speed networks, not only telehealth can provide medical services closer to home, but it also should provide the doctors and patients with additional benefits of safety, effectiveness, and satisfaction. HIFU is a new non-invasive ablation treatment for many solid tumors. This paper illustrates how the potential practice of HIFU ablation for fibroids can be modified to make it suitable for doctors in their HIFU training for treatment of fibroids and adenomyosis and for patients who need surgery using this new telehealth development.

The present study examined associations among adult romantic attachment, relationship quality, and electronic messaging frequency/preferences in 302 romantically-partnered undergraduates. Satisfaction with partner’s messaging frequency positively related to one’s own relationship quality. Anxious people desired more frequent messages than they received, whereas avoidant people desired less frequent messages than they received. Anxious people sent more messages to their partners than they received, whereas avoidant people received more messages than they sent. Additionally, anxious people took less time to respond to their partner than their partners took to respond to them, whereas avoidant people took more time to respond to their partner than their partners did to respond to them. We discuss implications for attachment theory, romantic relationship satisfaction, and electronic communication.
